Does anyone have a very strong feeling that David Foster and Celine are working on new music together again? Interviewer Barry Avrich posted a blank shot of a recording studio booth on his insta story that said: "Waiting for Celine" and now it has been announced that this upcoming interview is about a David Foster documentary. I am getting excited guys!

I feel like she must be a decent enough player, just too shy to let us hear her!

René has mentioned this before... he thought Céline is a talented piano player and tried to get her to play more or even live (same with writing songs), but she's too humble and insecure. Someday........

I really don't think that 'someday' will come. Unfortunately.

She is talented enough and she could easily do it.

Would love to see her do some acoustic stuff of her hit songs and she playing the piano.

Ah well dreams dreams dreams

Id love for her to do a little acoustic show. Just her, Elise,Dawn and Barnev, Kevin, Scott ... maybe a few others. And do theatres... i dont know why id just love it. Unlike Mariah she wouldnt need to do theatres out of necessity it would be a choice and she’d probably need to do 3-4 shows each place lol.

I dont know why ive always loved a small, intimate acoustic show. A small segment with just her and her piano.... mabye one day she’ll have that confidence

She can do that with MTV Unplugged like Mariah did in the 90’s

The Barry Avrich doc?

I suspect it's months away from completion, and I don't think we ever heard what kind of distribution he's secured. If it's intended for theatrical, I suspect we won't hear of it until some prominent film fest - maybe Hot Docs or TIFF.

I HATE when they disable comments.

David Foster always tells the same stories about Celine- practically word for word. But i like him- he always makes me smile.

Yes this is true. Maybe they use the same script writer when they both do interviews......... :innocent: :giggle:

I've made several posts about this in the Juno thread, but it probably belongs here just as much.

Not the Barry Avrich doc, but here's the full interview with David from last night's The National (aired in conjunction with him getting the Humanitarian Juno this past weekend).

The Celine content starts at ~8:15 (though she makes a mini-cameo earlier, too):

Interestingly, it excludes the short excerpt that I posted previously, which can be seen here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/david-foster-award-career-1.5043838

very cool! thanks! I think Céline and David have been very fortunate to have worked together (successfully) so may times! Both helped each others career to tremendous heights!

Seeing those ILEMWY recordings makes me wish SO bad that they would give Unison a proper re-release with the recording sessions, the videos and a Unison concert on bonus DVD!!! :crybaby:

The chances that Céline will release a gender neutral phone case are bigger than releasing our re-releases dreams :sofunny:

You see, they have so much footage from recording sesions and behind the scenes. Why do they keep it all hidden and won’t release it? I would love to see detailed recording sessions for ANDHC and OH :)

Here's the trailer. Babs (& Tell Him clip) at ~2:50, tiny Celine excerpt right after that -

This looks really interesting in its own right - David Foster is such a fascinating character even aside from Celine. Musical genius, arrogant but so charming. . . And all those marriages! He’s in #5 now, I guess?

Oh, and I think Celine was the second “David Foster” when they were talking about his awards at the beginning.

So TIFF is up and running, and there's a press event for this on Sat AM, followed by the premiere on Mon the 9th, and another screening on Sat the 14th - for those in Toronto who may want to go check it out.

I know TIFF is going on here right now but I didn't know they were showing this at the event. Don't know if I'll be able to go but we'll see. Thanks! ^_^

"That kind of arrogance and self-congratulatory attitude permeates throughout Off the Record, rendering it almost impossible to glean any insight into the iconic Grammy-winning producer. The documentary is not so much a probing look at the life of the man who’s churned out pop hits such as Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart” as it is a 90-minute testimonial exulting his excellence. In the words of Celine Dion, “He’s one of the greatest producers of all time.” And Andrea Bocelli: “He’s the best producer on the planet.” And Quincy Jones: “You’re dealing with god.” [...]

Perhaps true to form, there’s a bit of revisionist history in play as well. Much time is devoted to the making of Dion’s first English-speaking album, Unison, in 1991, and his insistence that she cover Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself” with big notes. In reality, she recorded it for her Falling into You album when she was already an established star." [seriously?!] :wtf:

(Honestly, I'm not that surprised to read this... that's kind of how the trailer came off as well.)

I'm always so annoyed when they say Unison is from 1991 or 1989.... it's not hard to check your facts :glare:

Well i guess some of the recording / intial work on Unison did begin in 1989, but it is a 1990 album.’
