Any award of that type are announced several months prior to the show. Maestro Fresh Wes is the inductee in the Canadian Hall of Fame and Tegan and Sara are being presented the Humanitarian award by Elliot Page.

That’s the Canadian Music Hall of Fame I referred to. And as Del mentioned, someone else is being inducted tonight (and announced several months ago).

Celine hasn’t accepted it (yet, one would think…) The question really is why, and when she will.

It would break 25 years of absences.

Plus it’s in Halifax this year, and last time she was due to play Halifax, the show was cancelled because of negative media and public response (https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.646125)

It’s not a miracle, it’s rather real. We know that a French album has been in works. Moreover, she is still able to „sound like Celine Dion“ as she proved on songs like Ashes. It’s all a matter of the right producers

 

That was before years of debilitating muscle spasms that affect every muscle in her body including her diaphragm and vocal cords. I also feel it’s important to mention that Ashes was clearly heavily played around with because she was never once able to replicate it live the way it sounded in the studio.

I’d would hope her and her team would have put this disaster behind them and moved on. It was one article by a poorly educated journalist of a now out of business newspapers. Then those who had hoped for a rock concert announcement lost their minds. At the time I agreed with Rene about pulling the show, however after reflecting on it, he made the wrong decision as the only people it hurt were the fans that have followed her for all these years.

Taking Chances the key was just different, the first tour performance in Pretoria if you pitched it up sounds identical to the studio version. Even the 2017 attempts were very solid and faithful to the original. Ashes by contrast she basically had to shout the high notes and her tone sounded absolutely nothing like it did in the studio.

But she didn’t give as much power to the vocal on the live version of TC either. She struggled always on the high notes and the last chorus even in the lower key. The vocal approach was completely different.

I agree that there was editing done on the studio version of “Ashes” but honestly I think what she did to that song in live performances was technically more demanding and impressive. She took an otherwise vocally unimpressive (for her standards) song to new heights.

 

I was never even a big fan of “Ashes” but I came to appreciate it especially as a result of her live performances, as well as the commercial success and what it did for her. I have to admit I like the song now.

I know that, in light of his constant presence by Céline’s side in recent appearances, there’s been talk about RC potentially being her new manager but I wonder whether he could in fact be stepping into the role that Michel retired from during the pandemic. I do see a resemblance watching him accompany Céline so I think there is a case to be made.

Yeah the promotional performances were pretty crap, don’t get me wrong. But the tour performances, at least the early ones, where a whole other kettle of fish.

Question to the people from the UK: What do you guys think of the Kategate? First they posted a manipulated family photo, then a younger Kate with William from the Farmshop and finally the cancer announcement video, which is clearly AI. Can you imagine a fake/AI SPS announcement video or family photo from Celine? What do you guys think is going on in the UK and media? Edited by comingback
