I don't know if this belongs here cause I don't really know him or how famous he is but he's got over 500 thousand followers and his twitter description says he's a YouTuber and rapper. The woman is his wife.

Lol it's either MHWGO or IACBTMN that is always sang to. That's Celine's repertoire. :giggle: :innocent:

ps This is not meant to be a negative post. :)

Might be tangential in this topic, but... believe this is Sia's manager?

How great this performance is? The voice, the look, the attitude. This song would have been an instant hit if sang by any of the younger pop stars back then.

Remember when Cher used to compliment Celine all the time?

It seems like that stopped after Cher's negative experience with her show at the Colosseum?

Anyone have any additional information?

They never had a negative experience. Cher just had a negative experience all by herself at the Colosseum. Cher's show at Caesars was during the 2008 recession (along with Bette's) and it did not do well. She was public about really not liking the Colosseum at all when, really, it was just bad timing. Celine was lucky to bow out of Vegas during 2008 / 2009 / 2010.

I just noticed that ever since then -- Cher has stopped talking about Celine and never mentions her in interviews like she did back in the 90s / early 2000s. Cher was a intially big advocate for Celine, always saying that she has the best VOICE in the industry.

Until this week, I've never heard Safia interviewed in English. And suddenly, she's all over English CBC. The article above, the interview on Q here, and another interview on Breakaway.

In this last one (starting at 18:30min) she talks about that meeting with Celine @ ADISQ,and says, among other things, that she celebrated Celine's 50th B-Day with a party & champagne, and that she rewarches that ADISQ video every month! :giggle: There's a bit where she says she feels Celine is more of an actress than a singer, which I thought interesting and oddly insightful.

Interesting because from all I've seen from Celine the description of her I developed was "heart of an actress, soul of a singer"

Well, that's actually a very common approach amongst interpreters of song - I've heard a lot of jazz musicians, many of whom interpret standards written by others, speak that way. Diana Krall often says interpreting a song is like acting out a little play; she picks songs that play out like movies in her head.

Celine says something similar, that she considers all singers are actors to some extent.

But I don't think all singers have the heart of an actor. For instance, I look at Beyonce and I see a performer, not an actress (even though she has acted before, but not that well), same for Mariah, or Adele. Lady Gaga though, total actress from the start, Celine is the same. She doesn't just performe a song, she becomes a character for each song. Perhaps it comes from her training/education as a singer. Also, I beleive in one documentary it was said Celine took acting/theater classes to help with her on stage presence. It's likely I am remembering wrong, but I think something to that extent was said at one point.
