Last week's Beauty and the Beast film premiere in Los Angeles drew countless big names: John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Matt Damon and Javier Bardem. Hell, even Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter showed up in Gucci. But, for star Emma Watson, no celebrity sighting could hold a Lumière-encased candle to Céline Freaking Dion.

Watson, who plays Belle in the live-action Disney remake, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to discuss the moment she came face to face with the legendary singer. Dion sang the "Beauty and the Beast" theme song with Peabo Bryson for the 1991 original animated film — performed by Ariana Grande and John Legend for the 2017 update — which explains her presence at the premiere. Nobody was more excited to see her than a certain former Harry Potter star.

"Then Céline Dion arrives and I’m like, holding my publicist like, ‘This is almost too much for me!’" Watson told host Jimmy Kimmel. "You have to understand, my parents do not really understand like celebrities or Hollywood or whatever else, but my mom and I used to play Céline Dion in the car, like, non-stop.

"Being able to tell her [Watson's mother] that I met her I was like, 'She’s gonna lose it. She’s gonna know who Céline Dion is," the British actress added.

Good thing Julia Roberts wasn't also at the premiere, or Mum really might have freaked out. Watson shared that, growing up, her family only owned four VHS tapes, two of which starred Roberts: Pretty Woman and My Best Friend's Wedding, plus Four Weddings and a Funeral and Private Benjamin.

According to Watson, who turns 27 next month, "Julia Roberts is Hollywood for me." She credited the Oscar winner with helping her realize that it'd "be cool" to act.

Enhancement should always be better but the new version is worst. Celine version is untouchable.

Haha thats a funny video. Celine and Peabo definitely slay the song.

 

I think the reason why the music sounds so cheap or like a demo in that new version, its because i believe the music must always live up to the voice that accompanies it...

Think about it. Lol

 

It true with both version.... it both blends in, in a certain way... imagine ariana with the 1991 orchestral version :S

It looks like the new version is not on the Hot 100 anymore. It may chart again when the movie comes out however...

This morning on my way to work my local radio station played the Ariana version and then they had people call in and just about everyone said they prefer Celine and Peabo's version. The DJ even said she wished they had re-recorded it!

I've just seen Grande/Legend video... sorryy buut... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... they can't even join for the filming.... the chromas here are so ridiculous.... if the movie trailer get my attention to finally go to theather... this music video killed it.... I'll just stay home watching and hearing the animated one... it's all so cheaply premanifactured... (i don't know if this exists in english)....

 

For the audio we heard it seems that Celine's song production is going to be much better... yeiiihhh!!! And I prefer no music video before some chroma cheap s**t like this.. hahaha

I just watched the new music video with Ariana and John Legend. The highest rated comments are rather negative. They say this version does not stand up to the original, they criticize Ariana's voice and even... her jaw. :cry: I found the music video to be rather beautiful though. I genuinely enjoyed it and I think it does the song and the movie justice. Edited by LukeD

I agree, I thought the music video was nice. I love the dancing scenes with Belle & Beast. I wish Celine and Peabo had a more theatrical video for the original but since it was an animated video there wasn't much else they could do.

 

It is true though.... that dang jaw is distracting!
