LukeD Posted December 7, 2016 at 12:11 PM Posted December 7, 2016 at 12:11 PM The best thing for me is a tour that comes about 6 months after the album release. So if the album is to be released on November 2017, then I would hope for the tour to kick off around May or June 2018. I think it is enough time to go through all the phases of exploring the album and to give it a proper place among her vast discography. 6 Quote
Javito Posted December 7, 2016 at 12:24 PM Posted December 7, 2016 at 12:24 PM (edited) Without setting a precedent, finally I agree on something with you I thought nobody would say it, but I also think that a tour in 2017 without new music released would be just premature, and the tour coming in 2018 would be better. It would also coincide with Céline's 50th birthday (!!!) so, what a better way to celebrate that special birthday than touring the world in that year? But doing the tour next year, in summer or whenever it comes, just for the sake of it, it just seems presumptuous and a money-making decision more than an artistic decision, if you know what I mean. I still don't understand why they think of tours and concerts before thinking previously on a new album release. Music should always come first for a good artist, and Céline -as well as Celine's management- should concentrate on the new album before any thought about a tour that wouldn't be ready to present new music to the public (as happened with EUS). It just doesn't make sense to me, and seems so pretentious sorry. I still have a reserved opinion about Aldo, this guy seems to know a lot about business and money-making decisions, I have no doubts about that, but I have my doubts about his knowledge about artistic imput and music direction of a singer's career. Not everything is about making money -Celine doesn't need it, precisely, I think-, and if they were artistically involved at 100%, they would give us a GREAT album first, perfectly crafted and produced, and then prepare a tour with the best songs setlist, stage production and fanfare that they want, presenting that album. Not something rushed that repeats again the formula of her past concerts, and just done to make money and milk the public. On Céline's side, there's also that feeling of her avidity and greed for mainly and mostly performing, for doing concerts and tours mechanically, but little interest in the production side, in the artistic interest of setting up the best possible show she can (how long it's been since we don't see a show with dancers and choreography, with some background or setting behind her???), and recording new music and delivering something new in her concerts. That's what concerns me. It's just about singing, and simply singing all the time. No embellishment behind, no decorations. But with a voice that is changing fast with years now, she's going to need some help behind her to keep attracting the attention and the magic of her performances (especially if she's going to sing mostly her classic songs all the time, on each and every show). It can't be just her voice forever To make it short, as much as her next album needs to deliver something powerful and new, her shows also need a twist too and turn up a notch (and I'm not talking about Vegas shows here, you know). Just my two cents on this. Maybe it's because I learnt to have patience with many things, but I just don't see the need of a tour, nor feel the excitement, if there's not a whole new album to present before and during that tour Edited December 7, 2016 at 12:44 PM by Javito 3 Quote "Hush, now... browseceline Posted December 7, 2016 at 01:03 PM Posted December 7, 2016 at 01:03 PM since they are already trying to settle this tour it will be this summer. I must promote new songs. I am afraid it will be because you loved me again and tpol, iacbtmn etc again.Again, Look at Madonna. She does not do the same songs every time and she still sells out all cities where she is performing. So please Celine, dare to skip certain songs. If people want to hear those songs, then let them go to Vegas ;-)And she should first finish that new album, let it sink in, so we know the tracks, and then do a tour in 2018. 4 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
duri Posted December 7, 2016 at 01:32 PM Posted December 7, 2016 at 01:32 PM (edited) As this will be her first english tour in Europe in 9 years I don´t expect it will be tour for new album. Look at TC world tour how many songs from TC album she was singing 5 or 6? So even if tour will be after new album is out, I don´t think there will be most songs from new album. So songs like BYLM, TPOL ... very likely will be part of tour. So I think strategy of Céline´s team si that audience didn´t see her for long time so people want to hear her hits. it´s not like Madonna who is on tour every 2-3 years with every new album. Aldo can deal with the business part, contracts etc. What she really needs is an artistic director. Somebody who would closely work with Céline the same way she works with her stylist and who would be able to balance and adjust her artistic expression. Not changing her, but to guide her through each project and to find the best approach. Especially when it comes to the new albums. 10 Quote

Daysleeper Posted December 7, 2016 at 02:28 PM Posted December 7, 2016 at 02:28 PM Well, isn't that why they hired Gilles Ste-Croix?Yes, he is named for the artistic director, that's right. But isn't he responsable for the direction of the shows? I'm talking here more about the artistic direction in the recording process and the music itself. Somebody who would be able to say: "Yes, Céline, this song is absolutely beautiful, but I doesn't really stick to the album" or something like that... 1 Quote

Unknown songs, but also known songs who always got overruled by the classics. And even if there are classic songs, if they (finally) have the guts to change or fresh them up a bit, you'll will have an incredible new show. And just like last year, 3 new songs will do the trick. Instead of hearing new song you just discovered, you will discover them live right there and then. Also, I never missed does dancers. I think it's a nice chapter in her career, the years of A New Day and her World Tour. But to me, Celine will always be a singer who doesn't need dancers (or French Canadian clowns and flying piano's)But I agree they need to keep it interesting... EUS tour had very poor visuals (and even her current Vegas show has barely anything left from the impressive beginning. The moving stages elements are cut out, the amazing artistic works by that young designers team is cut out... not even to mention the crapy opening video they recently added, that was probably made by a 12 year old son of the box office lady of Caesars) If they set the bar a little higher. Dare to choose from her amazing divers repertoire from the last 25 years, fresh up the classics a bit and put some serious effort in lightning and new visuals... we definitely don't need a new album first. dodobird Posted December 8, 2016 at 05:10 PM Posted December 8, 2016 at 05:10 PM (edited) I think we all need to have a bit more faith in Celine. We can all sit in the comfort of our homes and say what we think is best for Celine's career but we don't have the whole picture. Sony might not be releasing as much marketing material as we would have liked, the tours and album releases might not be what you and I think is best for her but truth of the matter is we are not tour managers, we are not artist managers or even creative directors and we certainly (or at least I think lol) don't work in the highest echelons of Sony to know the comings and goings of the music business in 2016. We have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus, I think Celine is smart enough to select the very best people to work with her. She is such a professional herself that she wouldn't ever accept to work with people who can't deliver. Which brings me back to "WE NEED TO HAVE MORE FAITH IN CELINE". She learned from one of the best music business minds that graced the face of this earth....Rene. I don't for a second believe that with her brain she didn't pick up anything. Rene taught her everything he knew and if there is one person (other than Celine herself of course) responsible for the legend we call Celine Dion today...well that's Rene. So as she herself says, she's now got 100% of that knowledge in her hands. Let's wait and see what wonderful things she will do with it. And let's not forget that it's not even a year since she lost the man who she has been relying on for 35 years for everything. Give her time to find her balance and we all might be pleasantly surprised Edited December 8, 2016 at 05:12 PM by dodobird 4 Quote

It can't be just her voice forever Dancers and choreography seems impossible since I'm afraid Scott and his orchestra are here to stay. I'm a bit lazy to multiple quote now, but in relation to a post below, Scott has made her include more of her own songs in the setlist. I think the right strategy would be releasing the album in early March, once the Grammy effect is over and since it's not a competitive month sales are lower and Celine can debut at #1 in the US. A number one debut will give her press coverage by itself. Then she should do a promotional tour on TV in the US and Europe in order to let people know there's a new album out (radio won't play any song). Right then, tickets should go on sale for a summer tour in arenas. A stadium tour is a risk since it's 9 years since the last time Celine toured non-Francophone Europe. Based on "My Love" and "LMBTL" sales, she could do 4 dates in London, 4 in Dublin, 2 dates in Amsterdam, 2 in Germany, 1 in Switzerland and other countries. Francophone dates shouldn't take up much space in the schedule since they got 11 shows this year. April and May 2017 are fully booked in Las Vegas. The tour could kick off in July and then do some stops in big North American cities such us Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Chicago. With the album being launched in March (with a lead single in late January or early February) and the tour starting in July, it will give the album time to grow on people so that she can include half of it in the setlist. What she shouldn't do is release the album after the tour. 4 Quote

dodobird Posted December 9, 2016 at 02:52 PM Posted December 9, 2016 at 02:52 PM (edited) She's so prone to performing covers all the time, irremediably Dear Javito, Why are you having such a difficult time understanding that she actually LIKES singing those covers??? I don't know of ANY other artist on earth (let alone of that caliber) who does SO many things FOR her fans (even if she doesn't like doing them)...she sings songs she's sick of singing just because she knows her fans are waiting to hear them. So why can't we just let her do something for herself as well? Is she not entitled to having some fun? After EVERYTHING she's done for us (her fans), why can't we just let her be her for a while and figure out where she wants to go artistically? If she wants to sing covers let her do it. She has the right to. An artist needs to be able to 'feed' that hungry beast that is called creativity and artistic expression and something tells me know you this all too well. You can't expect 'the muse' (be it your voice and singing talent or your composition talent or your acting skills or your dancing talent or whatever else you use as your means of expression) to keep giving you day in and day out unless you feed it what it wants. And in Celine's case sometimes it wants Sia or Adele or Janis Ian or whatever else. But if she doesn't give it what it wants, she's not going to be fulfilled and have fun and as a result she will stop being Celine. So what would you rather have? A happy Celine who is giving her all and having fun (even if it means disappointing her fans from time to time and singing covers) or a robotic Celine who does everything to please others but is empty inside and one day decides to call it quits and be a mom or grandma or whatever? What would happen to us if that happened??? what would we be arguing about all day long if we didn't argue about this??? Of course I'm saying this with all due respect to what you feel and want. I'm not trying to convince you that I'm right (because I'm not....last time i checked I'm human so I'm prone to be wrong from time to time lol). I'm just trying to give you a different angle on things. I want her to sing her own songs too (and finally start daring to sing songs she herself has written).
