I think Mariah did the best she could in the moment . . . and I don't think it's really fair to compare how Celine would react. Celine is MUCH more comfortable on stage than Mariah - always has been. Live performance has always been Celine's greatest strength and what she loves the most (in show business). Mariah, on the other hand, clearly prefers the studio, and has other strengths, like songwriting.

 

Celine has vastly more experience on stage than Mariah -- Celine's done over 1000 shows in Vegas alone, and about 750 other shows, over the course of her career, per Wikipedia. Mariah has only done about 350 shows total, over her whole career (per Wikipedia). It's just not fair to compare how they react at these things, when Celine has SO much more experience with handling the problems that arise in live performance.

 

Mostly, this was a total technical fail (do people really think any artists are singing live in 35-degree weather, in a huge space like Times Square, for a major televised event? I guarantee you Celine wouldn't have been singing live either in those conditions.) I thought Mariah handled it with relative professionalism (letting the audience sing, engaging with them, continuing to stay on stage and dance, etc) -- the criticism of her is really overdone. It should be directed more to the technical team than Mariah herself.

 

And Celine's had egregious lip-sync problems, too - -just not at any event as high profile as this. Remember this from TCOML release?

Dick Clark productions responded and said there were eight monitors on stage and she skipped rehearsal so its her fault.

dick clark productions's response mentioned how mariah's team was now changing their story. what exactly did they say initially? everything i've read since the performance basically said the in-ear monitor completely malfunctioned. though they say there were 8 monitors on stage amplifying sound, somehow in that kind of crazy crowd environment where there's noise coming from every which direction, i'm inclined to believe that wouldn't completely solve the issue. anyhow, i think stella should not promote the sabotage issue (unless there's actually solid evidence) any more.

If she couldn't hear herself, then how was she able to sing several lines from Emotions perfectly in time with the music? And I'm not talking about the pre-recorded whistles.

 

What kills me the most is walking around with the mic at her hips while the racks plays and then lipping a few more words and then dropping the arms again. Bizarre behavior.

Sure, she's got oodles of talent and what happened was unfortunate and I can see how she would understandably panic in such a situation.

But she's just so painfully trashy, I just can't handle it. The ego, the outfits...ugh. No thanks.

Maybe the attitude is just a desperate front to, as she said in her post-performance tweet last night "make headlines", in which case it's a sad situation all around.

 

Anyway, I thought they New York Times article about all this was very sane and balanced; worth a read.

She is such a.... diva. I mean: in a wrong way.

Haven't u watched her real TV show or whatever it is? the bad words she had against other artists throughout the years, her attitude etc...

I believe this is not a lipsync failed but it was actually a playback performance.

 

She meant to do it that way. Because for sure the song is the original track that has a layer by layer backing vocal track on it.

 

If she really should do the lipsync 100% perfect, for sure it is hard because the track layer is everywhere.

 

And this performance is acceptable because it is not a big concert stage scale. It is just recorded for tv production or something. It is different with Mariah's case. Same goes to the TPOL performance. We know it is a playback performance. It is not that she fooled the audience but failed.

There is still no excuse for her screwing her We Belong Together performance. She stopped mimicing the song, then started mimicing again. She is just not a professional and she doesn't care.

I can't understand why people still like Mariah. I wasn't aware that she is so "big" in other countries. In France she isn't that famous... I was asking friends and family about a song of her, and no one can even whistle a Mariah's song...

Was talking with Mariah's fans on YouTube , OMG ! They said that people in Europe are hypocritical with their "needed" of emotion bla-bla-bla.

I dont really like her, but if it happened to Céline , I would never spend all my time on Instagram or YouTube trying to defend her and critisise other artists. They don't want to admit that she is getting older, and she has almost lost her voice because of bad choices in her life.

Contrary to mariah's fans, Céline's fans admitted that she isn't as powerful as she was, but she takes care of her.

We don't love her just because of her voice, but because of her personnality , and because she is humble and care about her fanbase, us.

Céline never despised us. She has always try to give the best she could.

 

That's why I love Celine Dion and I think we should stop talking about MC .

Best seats for me is FRONT ORCH 4. axs.com choose Ultimate VIP Package NOT Team Celine!!! It's only chance, I mean, get the best seats, but price 1275. Very expensive I know, but if you big fan it's worth it 😊

Wow. $1,275 a ticket is a huge amount of money for the average person. I know it's a once and a lifetime opportunity, I totally get that. Those who have the money can feel free to pay whatever price they want, but in my opinion the $250.00 tickets can be just as good and maybe even a little better in a way, then front row seats.

 

Most people think that front row is awesome and that your getting the best seats in the house. Yes. They are amazing seats, don't get me wrong but, in my opinion though, seeing it from a little further of a vantage point gives a better overall feel of the show. At least that is how I felt from my seats. It was a perfect view. I could see all the visual effects without it being too overwhelming and I could also see Celine from all angles, at all times.

 

I would highly recommend the $250.00 level tickets. I don't know if they are still that same price now, so don't quote me because the show has changed a lot since I was last there in 2012.

 

I sat in FORCH 4, ROW HH, seat 401. Let me tell you. It was the best seat at a concert in my entire life. It was so perfect! It's seven rows back, but that's only about 20 feet away from the stage. I would highly recommend these seats. You can see everything, I promise you.

 

Anything in that section I mentioned above, or in that general area would be amazing seats for your money. I could clearly see Celine the entire time. You can see the details of each outfit it's so close. I could even hear her breathing at one point, while she was running and I could hear her heels a little as well. LOL.

 

Whatever seats you choose, I hope you have a blast!
