The casual fans who never showed interest in Céline's early career don't know what they are missing. It's a complete little universe to discover.

Even though people would expect that the new album should be promoted with the new songs, I feel so glad that they chosed this 32 year old song that was never a hit actually. It's a very symbolic move. And I always loved the song since I discovered it on the 1997 compilation "C'est pour vivre".

I think about Céline and René in the studio in 1984 recording this song. They weren't able to imagine what journey this song would make after all these years.

 

The lyric video is nice and it shows one of my favorite places in Paris (the fontain in Jardin du Luxembourg). Also I like the idea of showing the real Place d'Italie in Paris.

 

I've always insisted on their remastering all her pre-1987 work. There are lots of gems other than the same 28 songs that have been issued on countless compilations over the last 25 years. Even if people can get their hands on the vinyls, it's not the same quality. They own the original master tapes and the rights. If they do it for Christmas and release it to itunes and other digital outlets, I'm sure they will sell many thousands. There's no better time than right now with the hype around EUS. Is there a way we can suggest it to Aldo?

I agree. Moreover I don't understand why it hasn't been done all these years. Are there maybe some legal issues? All those albums recorded before 1987 were big hits, they sold many copies in Quebec and some of them even received Félix awards for best selling album or the album of the year. They are classics and Céline was a big star even then. They should remaster them and release them all on CD, not only because we fans would love to have them, but it's also in the interest of public in Quebec who followed Céline and supported her all these years. Many of them grew with those albums and songs.

If it supposed to be a "buzz single", there's not much buzz around it

And there's no effort from Celine's team in this case either...

The song has a special meaning and it lacks the single-potential to become a radio hit. Actually EUS, PAMP, Immensite, Miracle, are not radio-friendly, at all IMO. There are special-themedeven if some of them had a good or better chart success.

I'm inclined to think Celine's audience is mainly composed of the kind of people who buy the whole album in physical format, especially in countries like France where the digital market is not that huge as in other countries like the USA or the UK,

 

They should have chosen another "buzz single" as they did in 2013 with "Somebody Loves Somebody".

It truly amazes the level of hypocrisy TeamCeline has within itself. Celine gets accolades and praise for helping keep the French language alive - for helping spread French globally. However, her team then does crap like this that goes against that very thing. Yes, banning French material from one of the largest music markets in the world, a music market Rene himself worked so hard to help break Celine into, is SOOOOOO keeping with the reasoning behind Celine helping to bring French knowledge to the world. What a joke. My God, having this lyric video unavailable in the United States, and not making it available for purchase in the U.S., is actually a hard slap to the face of Rene for everything he worked hard to accomplish with Celine. Some tribute. TeamCeline still doesn't "get it", and more than likely never will. All I can do is roll my eyes. Maybe if Celine got more involved and became a true artist of her craft, she'd SEE first-hand what kind of crap is going on. Also, they may not have as many albums sold as Celine, but I have way more respect now for artists like Gloria Estefan and Andrea Bocelli for making their non-English material so easily accessible in The States.

Bit over the top.... Even when Rene was manager there were these kinds of problems... There will be a reason for it....

 

At least you can get this album this time... Better than the last French album

Don't think it's TC per se, it's more a licensing thing...so it's more of a Sony problem. When stuff isn't available in certain areas, it always comes down to copyright and licensing deals. Why? I don't know.

I don't know if someone purchased the song on Amazon or iTunes, but on both sites they listed the length of the song 3:37. And it is the same length as the original song. The version of lyric video is 3:47, so it seems it's only slowed down there.

 

Maybe it was an error in editing the video. I remember "Parler à mon père" video had the same problem when it first came out.
