KCM Posted May 7, 2018 at 10:29 PM Posted May 7, 2018 at 10:29 PM (edited) I'm 100 percent certain that Celine sat RC down as soon as he expressed a real interest in recording music and told him that he would be held to a much higher standard than anyone his age simply by virtue of who she is and how incredibly successful she has been. She knows that any child of hers would have to compete ( no matter how unfair that might be) with her legend and icon status. It cannot be avoided. All children who follow in a successful parents' footsteps, in any profession, have to go through this, but certainly not as publicly as RC, obviously. As someone who is Celine's age and has followed her career from "Ce n'etait qu'un reve" until now and lived in Quebec at the time, I can assure you that she had her critics from the very start. The press was very hard on her. They uniformly praised her voice from the start but were very unkind about her looks. She was criticized about her teeth, the fact that she was too tall for her age which made her look gangly and awkward and the clothing she wore. As she got older and went through the 2 year break to get that makeover and learn english and started to say in interviews that she wanted an international career and be number 1 like her idol M.J she was almost laughed out of Quebec for crying out loud, because NO ONE had crossed over successfully into engliphone Canada from Quebec, let alone America or the rest of the planet. And when she became a success in America, like she said she would, they got extremely pissy, saying that she would forget Quebec and her francophone fans and they even had the nerve to say without them she would never have made it in America, after years of making fun of her for even suggesting it was possible to succeed there. And don't forget that even after selling millions upon millions of albums and winning every conceivable award, critics have always been extremely harsh about her english albums ( damn a whole book was written about it) They ALWAYS highly applauded her vocal talent but called her music everything from extremely over produced, corny and downright terrible and without emotion unlike her french albums which were highly praised because they were said to be the complete opposite. Celine has always been under estimated. Everyone said she was going to fail in Vegas and that it would be the end of her career. She has always been the butt of jokes because of her looks and fashion sense ( until Law was hired and she was turned into a fashion icon ) I believe that the trolls who say she does not belong in the vocal trinity do it because unlike Whitney or Mariah she has never been considered a sex symbol and at the peak of her career when MTV was the end all be all and female singers were showcased for their looks and sex appeal more than for their talent Celine was different but still managed to dominate without the sexualisation and that triggers the snowflake lambs because they know deep down that Mariah (especially in the last 10 years or more has used and abused her "so called" sex appeal and has turned into some sad caricature of herself while not taking care of that incredible voice) while Celine has always stayed true and for the most part, relying on her talent and has been in the biz for almost 40 years pretty much scandal free, unlike Mimi.WOW I have just digressed myself out of my own zip code. So to quote the often used words of Celine herself, "to make a long story short" or in my case to get to the damn freakin point of this overlong and bloated post. If anyone can impart wisdom about the critics and naysayers to her beloved son it is most certainly Celine herself, who had to see her own mother watch and hear some very nasty things said about her own daughter and kept her cool, down to earth Maman Dion swag. I'm not saying it won't hurt Celine to hear negative things said about her beloved RC ( because it will ) she at least has learned that all that really matters is what the fans say. RC seems to be a very mature young man who has been through a lot in the last few years and Celine surely told him that the negative is part of the deal when putting yourself out there. But if it is something he loves and is willing to work hard at then the good far outweighs the bad. If he has his mom's strength he'll be ok because as I said, Celine was only 12 when she had to confront the negative and although she had Rene and her family to shield her, she did not live in a bubble and knew the truth and survived it. I think that is why she sang "At Senenteen" with such conviction. It was her story too, almost as if in an alternate universe, Janis Ian had written it with not only herself, but a young Celine Dion in mind. She will support her son while being honest with him about the fact that it comes with the territory and that if he really wants it, he needs to be able to stand the heat so to speak. Anyways sorry about the rant and peace, love Kim Edited May 7, 2018 at 10:32 PM by KCM 6 Quote

celinelover03 Posted May 8, 2018 at 07:28 AM Posted May 8, 2018 at 07:28 AM Now this Sarah is retweeting all the comments about her. She's loving the attention. I love how she was questioning why RC made the covers of the songs the Montreal skyline and how she mentioned RC was making a reference to Celine Canadian roots acting as if RC isn’t Canadian himself, just because he was born in the states. It’s true that he is American, but he’s also definitely quebecois. He grew up with his parents, after all, and he lived in Montreal on and off for many years of his life. Quote Et je t'aime encore, comme dans les chansons banales...
celinelover03 Posted May 8, 2018 at 07:29 AM Posted May 8, 2018 at 07:29 AM Also, is anyone else mildly uncomfortavle with his name being “Big Tip”? I don’t know, it’s just a little eh... I don’t think he meant it that way, but why Big Tip? LOL. I’m trying to think of reasons why. Either way, his music is awesome and I love his style! He’s so talented. I wonder if the third song (newest one uploaded) was written by him? 1 Quote Et je t'aime encore, comme dans les chansons banales...

It's true that he is American, but he's also definitely quebecois. He grew up with his parents, after all, and he lived in Montreal on and off for many years of his life. His parents were/are very proud of being from Montréal and he had his second home there for years. Almost all of his family lives there and they visit regularly. If he sees him self as a Canadian, then he's a Canadian, even if he has a dual citizenship. I lived in another country for years and all the children saw them selves as Icelandic even if they weren't born there. I also wonder if the new song is a song he wrote himself. I tried googling but couldn't find lyrics that matched, and I'm not very familiar with this music genre.. Quote

RosieBarron Posted May 8, 2018 at 05:30 PM Posted May 8, 2018 at 05:30 PM It's not something I choose to listen to but he's actually good and is doing it on his own at his home. I think he's got a bright future ahead of him. I agree, my reaction was he sounds pretty good but these songs are pretty crap! I guess he must like them though. Would be interesting to hear something he has written himself. 3 Quote
scielle Posted May 8, 2018 at 10:22 PM Author Posted May 8, 2018 at 10:22 PM And now CP picked it up so it's gonna be syndicated news everywhere. RC's getting more promo than his mom ATM... 5 Quote

mirage Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:16 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:16 PM Aaaah that's so sad! RC’s latest tweet. 😱 Quote
DionFanAlways Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:24 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:24 PM RC's latest tweet. About the pressure for him to make it? Yeah.I wonder if it's just him that feels he has to be as successful as Celine or if it's coming from outside sources? Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.
celine4evauk Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:25 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:25 PM RC’s latest tweet. 😱 Anyone figure out what he meant? Pressure from whom/where? Do you think he meant because of the publicity? If so, certain media people should feel ashamed of themselves. He’s only just starting out in this, only learning, it’s not like he’s starting a career with a manager and record company etc behind him like his mum. Quote
lyn Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:39 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 12:39 PM (edited) New one: https://soundcloud.c...rod-by-syndrome mm "go suck a d**.. y'all on some petty s***" haha i can't decide how i feel about his angst.. i have this image of him actually being very chill and sweet inside haha and if he came up with this in a DAY, that's pretty awesome. angelil78 Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:08 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:08 PM He did say that he would ruin Céline if he would be in her songs because of what language he uses hehe. I think he's just pretending, he's writing how most rappers write, just my opinion. And I do think he's looooooving the attention and that his tweet about the pressure about making it, isn't something he's very worried about. Maybe he's overwhelmed with all the attention but I'm sure he's loving it 1 Quote
DionFanAlways Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:23 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:23 PM Interesting lyrics. I just hope he knows how to handle it. I think it's different for a guy, women throwing themselves at him and the traps of "showbiz".No matter what you tell or teach your kids about life they still have to be the ones who ultimately chose what to stay clear of. 2 Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! incognito Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:40 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 01:40 PM Well, he should just be himself. His delivery seems pretty good for an amateur not that I’m an expert seeing as I frequent a Celine Dion forum but I did stan Eminem in my teens and young adulthood. 😂😂😂 The juxtaposition of him being Celine’s son and the cursing is a little bit woah but...he’s his own person. I just hope he doesn’t say something that gets him into trouble or creates a big controversy. Hopefully there’s people giving him advice that he’s listening to. 1 Quote

mirage Posted May 9, 2018 at 04:57 PM Posted May 9, 2018 at 04:57 PM I must say. The songs "the apple" and "never stop" it really isn't my cup of tea. But for his age, it sounds good. Could seriously been something from an older "professional" artist. But I guess the image of what we see of him, and connected with our queen Celine it's shocking hahaha And funny how he reacts to all the comments in his songs. And I see Celine "RC, do you want a write song for me" I guess he doesn't let her listen to these songs... Suckmydick, fuckwithme,*censored*,a******,shitis all I here hahahaha Aaaaawh sweet Celine! Anyway, I like how he is doing, and I guess there will be an audience for it.And that he will keep the grace Celine.and Rene gave him Quote
