Celine sang at Daniels wake. Funeral is to tomorrow and so is RC birthday.

Not that I think we'll hear what she sang... But I kinda just want to know which song.

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

Anyone knows where is the footage of her in a red sweater taken from? Never saw it. She looks cute there. How sorry I am for her these days.

It's from a "Entertainment Tonight" interview in 1998 about Rene's fist diagnosis with cancer.

Celine Dion Too Grief-Stricken to Attend Brother Daniel's Funeral

It's been a devastating week for Celine Dion, to say the least.

Just one day after her husband's funeral, the 47-year-old singer attended the memorial for her brother, Daniel Dion, on Saturday. However, Celine did not attend Daniel's funeral on Monday, as she and her children could not continue two more days of public mourning, ET has learned.

Instead, Celine paid her final respects to Daniel at his memorial service, which was held at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny, ET can confirm. Daniel's funeral was held at St-Simon-et-Jude parish in Charlemagne, Québec, where the family was raised.

Daniel -- one of Celine's 13 siblings -- died of cancer on Jan. 16, just two days after Celine's husband of 21 years, RenéAngélil, also died of cancer. He was 59 years old.

On Friday, Celine bid an emotional farewell to her late husband in a public funeral at the Notre-Dame Basilica -- where Celine and René were married in 1994 -- in Montreal. The "My Heart Will Go On" singer leaned on her children for support during the heartbreaking service, holding hands with her 5-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy, and staying close to her 14-year-old son, René-Charles.

René-Charles spoke at the funeral to honor his late father, who died just two days before what would have been his 74th birthday.

"Dad, you are a tough act to follow, but with your help, everything is going to be fine," René-Charles said. "Dad, I promise you we are all going to live up to your standards."

As one of his final acts of love to his wife, Rene planned his own funeral to spare Celine the grief of having to do so herself.

This is so sad, but I am glad Celine isn't going to the funeral today. This is just all to much. Rene's memorial, Rene's funeral, Daniel's memorial, Daniel's funeral, Rene's celebration of life. When does it end.

That's a lot of sadness to be surrounded in. Now Celine, RC and the family can go home and try to celebrate RC's birthday the best they can and start the healing process as a family.

That's what Aisha Tyler said on "the talk" 'today.

I can't imagine having to go to your brother's funeral right after your husband's. Honestly I am worried that she was going to break down. Then on top of all that it's your son's 15th Bday today. Some off these comments in the article just irritate the crap out of me.

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I can't blame her. Too much is too much.... It probably isn't how she wanted to spend RC's birthday, unless I'm mixing up the days.

I'm glad she didn't go to the funeral. She paid her respects at the wake and her husband just died. It was honestly just too much for her to have to go the funeral now I think. I'm sure her family more then understood!

In my thoughts, I think she was not only overwhelmed, but quite possible simply wanted to spare her family the burden of paparazzi trying to get pictures of her. Daniel's family asked for privacy at this time, and she's had nothing but tons of people following her around to snap her picture so they can post another article. I feel so sorry for her and her entire family!

To be honest, I'm quite surprised she wasn't there.

Granted, nobody has the right to tell her how to grieve, especially after what she's just been through these last few days.

Given that Daniel was, according to previous reports, a rather private man, and French-language press is reporting she didn't want to draw attention, I think that may have had more to do with it than her being - as ET put it and others now picked up - "too heartbroken". It think it was about not stealing the limelight from what was an important moment for the rest of the family, particularly Daniel's children. Sounds like they genuinely wanted to keep this private.

That, and on RC's birthday, I'm sure she wanted to make the best of today for him, given the events of the last week.

So completely understandable on all fronts for her not to be there.

But you just know the haters are going to be all over for her not showing up. Urgh.

No, don't think she does, nor should she!!

But I do! Just wanna spread the Celine love. C'est tout. (And it can be hard work defending her all the time...)

i know , but i'm sure she doesn't care, she never did. I think she didn't want to steal the spotlight , and she was in over her head with sadness. Plenty of reasons to not go. But you know that. Let the people possessed by a mean spirit be. At the very least, i think that the ones saying she is illuminati will take a break , seing her in church taking the communion. She would have auto combusted.

I rolled my eyes when I saw this article from ET. I personally think that because today is RC's birthday that Celine, her mother, and her siblings decided that it would be best for her and her kids not to go so that RC wouldn't have to spend his birthday going to another funeral. By not going, the whole family could give RC the best birthday that they could under all of these horrible circumstances. If Daniel's funeral had been scheduled on any other day than today, I'm sure that Celine and her kids would have been there. So let the media report whatever they want, she's protecting her son.

Lol thinking that RC's birthday is the reason why they didn't go to the funeral, is ridiculous.

Its pretty much RCs birthday every single day of the year imo. Celine isnt that superficial to say "sorry its RCs birthday, cant come to my brother funeral." How shallow would she and RC sound?...

I'm sure the reason why Celine didn't go to the funeral was because she is probably back in Vegas. The Journal de montreal article about Daniel's wake on Saturday said that she left early compared to everyone else (around 3 pm) so she probably went home and either left that same night, or left Sunday to spend Monday in Las Vegas for RC's birthday.

Let's keep in mind here that they probably do something every year for RC's birthday like a party (considering how lavish his parties were when he was younger) so I'm sure they already had something planned BEFORE Rene passed away that Celine wanted to keep just to make sure everything was as normal as possible for RC.

It doesn't sound ridiculous for Celine to fly back home and miss her brother's funeral because of her son's birthday, UNDER the circumstances. RC just lost his best friend...I'm sure for his sake she didn't want him to either be A. alone at home with the twins and their nannies on his birthday or B. spending it at his uncle's funeral CONSIDERING they just spent all of last thursday and friday at the church mourning Rene.

They probably wanted to get the heck out of Montreal to get back to their own lives in las vegas so they can begin the healing process together as a family. RC is on a hockey team, he has homeschooling, his friends, etc. She probably wanted him to get back to that as soon as possible so he could deal with it in his own way and the twins could get back home and get back into their normal routine.

**ADDITION: I'm friends with Jacques on Facebook (don't ask :sofunny: ) and he DID NOT go to the funeral this morning EITHER. He said it was for the same reason that Celine did not attend...it was simply because it was too much mourning for so little time and that on Saturday was mainly for all of the Dion siblings to get together and mourn their brother. The funeral this morning was mainly for the extended family.**

^^ The reason why he posted the explanation was because he shared a post that someone made on facebook that said Celine did not attend Daniel's funeral because of her typical "superstar" and diva attitude and he was just defending his sister.

I got the feeling from the news articles that the Daniel Dion family did not seek the spotlight at all outside of his local following in Quebec. It may have been uncomfortable for them that his death was reported nationally/internationally because of Rene. We certainly did not hear about his wife's death last year. It is probable that the media would have gone to the site of the funeral to get pictures if Celine was there (as they did at the wake). It may have been a gift to them that she did not go. I actually felt for them during Rene's funeral; that public event must have been very difficult for them knowing that their father's funeral was just ahead.

Because Celine is so open, we forget that there is a lot we don't see and hear. I am sure that the family is comfortable and has talked through all of this together.

Only downside to having all this media attention is when you get giant vagina wigs like this making comments about a subject they know nothing about!!

"Giant vagina wigs" that's a new one, even for me. I challenge all of you to use that one in a sentence at least once tomorrow! LOL
