I bet she will be opening the show. Anyone see this being a possibility?

Maybe she'll close it out. That's what I'm thinking.

great news

Celine will perform "Hymne à l'amour" in French at the "2015 American Music Awards" as tribute to those affected by the recent attacks in Paris.

dick clark productions and ABC announced today that Celine Dion will perform a special rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” in French as tribute to those affected by the recent attacks in Paris at the “2015 American Music Awards.”

“We felt it was important to show our solidarity in light of the recent events in Paris and all around world,” said Larry Klein, Producer of the “2015 American Music Awards.” “Celine’s performance will help us express our feelings through song, when words do not suffice.”

The “2015 American Music Awards” will broadcast live on Sunday, November 22 at 8:00pm ET on ABC.

If I have to sit through all the horse sh*t that is the AMA's to get to her I will! Is that fan dedication or what!

Her performance will look out of place just because of what it's surrounded by.....

they want surely a real french song knowed around the worl..it was that or La vie en rose.

You underestimate us. We also know "Frère Jacques." ;)

I agree with you. They picked an iconically Parisian song that is known the world over.

I think it's being done because France was attacked and Celine is the biggest and most well-known French-language artist. I highly doubt there is a publicity motive...at least not for her.

This. Thank you.

I think the last time was LCDH at Oprah with her family and even that was cut off!

I am very happy she's doing this! Although I hope they make it for terrorist victims all over the world...

you are 100% right about that, terrible things happens in occident and Africa , and middle east etc.. we should be more aware of that also.

This is the ONLY good news I've seen this week. I found out today that one of the students from our sister school in France lost both of his parents, grandmother, and a close family friend who were dining at one of the cafes that was targeted. Our hearts are broken. I must say, I am tired of people trying to deflect the attacks on Paris as if they are not important. They didn't beat the drum for these causes the day before but now suffer from being Social Media warriors. That seems to be the popular thing to do in the cowardly social media world we live in. Especially to those of us who have been touched. Edited by Alex_Incognito

I agree and it really irks me. People use things like this as an outlet to show 'the world' how intelligent they think they are.

I disagree completely, and I don’t think Rene made bad decisions at all. I’m not trying to start an argument, but I think people have missed Celine so much over the past year and a half that they don’t remember how much she did with Rene before he got sick. Even just looking at 2013, the last year before Rene got sick – there were a TON of amazing appearances:

  • The Voice with Ne-Yo
  • Paris/Bercy concerts – and accompanying French promotion – shows like C’est Votre Vie, District V, Access Illimite
  • Edison Ballroom – NYC show
  • Home for the Holidays – BYLM performance; New Year’s Eve appearance on ET Canada
  • UK/Europe promo of LMBTL – X Factor, Jonathan Ross show, Strictly Come Dancing, Wetten Das
  • LMBTL promo near album release and in December: Jimmy Fallon, The View, Today, QVC, Dr. Oz, CBS This Morning, Extra
  • 3-day press junket, tons of print and radio interviews to accompany LMBTL release
  • LMBTL promotion in September – appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, Access Hollywood, Extra, Today, Larry King, ET, Ellen
  • Cameo on The Muppets
  • Une Seule Fois - Quebec City show
  • Le Banquier with Ne-Yo
  • It Etait Une Fois documentary
  • Billboard Music Awards appearance
  • Hell’s Kitchen appearance
  • Katie Couric hourlong special (the last in-depth English interview we’ve had with her. One of the most disappointing things about all the interviews since her comeback is that we haven’t gotten any snippets longer than 5 minutes)
  • Chinese New Year performance – Jasmine Flower

I’m sure I’m missing some, and this is all in addition to her Vegas shows, and all just in the year 2013. The point is that Rene said yes to a LOT of amazing things. She did so many different things, appealing to so many different on audiences – on 3 continents, in 3 languages, in 6 countries.

Aldo seems to be doing a decent job, and that’s good – but I don’t see anything he’s doing that’s better or even particularly different from what Rene did in the past. Rene was the perfect manager for Celine – anyone else can only ever be second-best.

*Stepping off my soapbox now* :flowers:

I agree 100% :thumbsup2:

I wonder if she'll be nervous. I know she's been performing forever but still this a French performance on primetime. Yes, yes I know Jay Leno and GMA with PQTME but that was so so so long ago.

I wished she saved that amazing dress from the Latin Grammy's and chose to wear it for the AMA's instead. The AMA's is a lot more publicized then the Latin Grammy's.

I don't think I have ever seen Celine look better. The woman is 47 and she showed off that 20 year old looking body like know tomorrow. Celine has never really worn a dress like that before. Sure Celine dresses sexy from time to time, but she was wearing one of the biggest trends of last summer. Showing the top of the stomach. It's such a fresh, younger look from her.

It was so unexpected. That is such a Gwyneth Paltrow dress. Gwyneth is always showing of the top of her stomach. I could even see Gwen Stefani or Jennifer Lopez wearing that dress. I was so happy to see Celine wearing something like this. It was such a nice change from her Vegas looks and Balmain short dresses.

It was a breath of fresh air. I just wish she saved it for the AMA's. Why wear one of the best dresses of your live to an event that wasn't even publicized. :wtf:

Do you think anyone will notice if she wears the same dress again for the AMA's? LOL.

Maybe because she doesn't feel that dress was all that special. She so many clothes and dresses, do you think she'll pick her dresses off of the popularity of an event. I'm pretty sure she has a far better dress around somewhere over the rainbow.

No music video..... No push of the second single..... Incredible music video came so late......the album quickly became forgotten from Her management at the time....

This is what I am refering to ;)

It's a heartbreaking reason - but I'm so glad she will perform in French on prime time American TV. It's a little shocking to me how seldom that has happened over her career. More of the world needs to know how absolutely fabulous she is in French.

Terrible circumstance the performance comes from, no doubt! I am very much excited though as a Céline fan, as I love this song and have always wanted her to sing it (all by herself).

But why not perform more than one performance ,I'm sure jay lo will have more than one performance ,honestly i don't know why but I feel in awards like the grammys and ams I feel that her time is always limited and it's always short ,but people who annoys me like beyonce always have either more than one performance with surprises and stuff or the performance is way too long with medleys And new hits ,I wish they give her the time to show a lot she is a big superstar ,and what about a show dedicated to celine herself like they do in France and Quebec ,that never happened in the USA ,it's wired how they don't appreciate all the years of giving ,I can't understand ,like divas or whatever shows ,I mean I remember they made for destinys child a lot of shows praising them while they didn't even have half the repertoire that celine have ,it's really sad ,she deserves more :( Edited by artistman2007

Wow so sorry to hear that Alex, that's so unfortunate for one student to suffer so much loss. Someone from L'Express, the company I was working for during my year in Paris, was killed. The assistant in the department I was working in lost her cousin, and an intern lost her flatmate. I feel very lucky not to have been in Paris anymore as I was living right next to the Bataclan (in the road where those poor people were jumping out of the windows), I would have been dangerously close to it all.

I am looking forward to Celine's tribute, as I haven't stopped thinking about my friends in Paris all week. Maybe this performance will help some of them.

i think i'll have to try not to get too emotional when watching... but i'll probably need tissues.......

do u think Celine will get emotional while performing the song?

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

This is going to be an emotional performance.

And come on, there is no publicity in this. I'm sure Celine will be as discreet as she was during her performance of Smile during the Academy Awards in 2011 where she wasn't here to show off. I hope she'll say a few words, maybe in french?

If someone should pay tribute for what happened last week, that's definitely Celine.

Wow, Tim, that's just too terrible. What a nightmare. I, too, can't wait for this song. I've always considered it the ultimate love song.
