Céline Dion: Summer Tour 2016 - Official Topic

Over a 112 were killed at a small/medium concert venue there called Le Bataclan Concert Hall alone. Luckily 3 out of the 4 attackers their explosives didn't go off. I hope Celine acknowledges what's happening in Paris soon. I know U2 just did but considering her concert tickets just went on sale...

Wow. So sad. :o I am just thankful that Celine was not there performing her series of concerts right now. So tragic that all these lives have been lost.

I wonder if they'll delay the (pre)sales now, because of the attacks. IMO that would be a respectful thing to do ...

I know  And now all the racists are saying "We told you so, this is what you get when you let refugees come to Europe". It's disgusting to read. I'm sure that most of the refugees are in serious need and have a good reason to leave their countries and we have to help them. I don't think anyone would risk their lives just for the heck of it, it's a dangerous journey. And then there are those few bad apples whose actions create more racism.

Sorry for the off topic, just had to get this off my chest. Still going to Paris to see Celine.

the first Montreal night is sold out. But I don't see how so many dates could sell out with so many VIP seats (not only on the floor)...

This is so heartbreaking.

I live across the street from World Trade Center and the usual tight security in my neighbourhood has tripled in the last few hours.

The WTC spire is lit up in red, white and blue.

J'espere que Celine chante quelquechose special en francais ce soir.

Hello neighbor!!

I'm positive those suicide bombers/gunmen have already found out they were wrong to believe that my friend.

It's one thing to fight in a war, arms against arms. It's another to terrify, injure and kill innocent unarmed people. It's cowardly. They're reasoning will never be understood or justified.

Rumour has it my country could be next.

THEY WILL NOT WIN THOUGH. NOW OR EVER.

I'm an agnostic, so I dont't believe in anything specific.. But IF there is a god of some sort, or purgatory, hell, heaven or whatever after death.. Hurting one another in the name of one god or another, I'm sure none of the deities out there (if there are any) would condone it..

It looks like there's a link to buy tickets from the Team Celine tickets webpage; I don't see a code either. I think your best bet is just to try to log in really early. For the Montreal shows last week, I logged into Team Celine around 9 AM (presale started 10 AM) and the website was working fine then. It linked to the the Evenko website, which had a mechanism where the page automatically refreshed and checked your status every minute; around 9:30 it opened up a waiting room where you could enter in your credit card information early so you didn't have to take that time when you were trying to buy tickets. And it put you in a place in line once you were in the waiting room. Hopefully there's a similar mechanism for this.

I, too, logged in early, copied the link and code and had no problem with the presale (well, except getting better seats)

Aldo Giampaolo gets ready to bring Céline Dion home

When I talk to Aldo Giampaolo, it’s hard not to talk at least a little hockey.

Giampaolo now has the pressure-cooker job of managing Quebec superstar Céline Dion’s career, but he has spent a big chunk of his life around hockey rinks.

He spent years coaching kids in Verdun — notably a young guy named Denis Savard, who went on to become a star player with the Chicago Blackhawks and is now in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Giampaolo later managed a number of arenas, starting with the Verdun Auditorium, moving on to the Forum, then the Molson Centre (later renamed the Bell Centre). While running the Forum and the Molson Centre, he naturally enough made the segue into the concert business, taking care of the shows at the Habs’ rinks, and in 2001 he was appointed president of concert promoter Gillett Entertainment Group (now Evenko). He later held senior positions at the Cirque du Soleil and Québecor.

Giampaolo saw the opportunity to book the dates in these franco markets because Dion finishes her current run of shows at Caesars on June 4 and only starts back up on Sept. 23. The timing is also good for Team Céline because the plan is to launch a new French-language album in the late spring. She has begun recording in Las Vegas, and they’ve already finished three tracks.

Though the focus will be on franco material for these shows, she will still be including about 45 per cent English tunes. Be assured you’ll hear all the big hits like My Heart Will Go On, I’m Alive, Love Can Move Mountains and River Deep, Mountain High.

Many of the backing musicians and singers from the Vegas show will be on the road with Dion, with bandleader Scott Price in charge. It will be the same setup as in Sin City, where she has a 15-piece string section, a five-piece horn section, three backing vocalists and a six-piece band.

She will also be working on an English album next year, to come out in 2017.

“The machine has started,” said Giampaolo. “We’re back to green on the light. She has an international career and she has to keep it up. René wants that. So we’re on a roll.”

Giampaolo is in constant contact with Angélil. He sees him at the Dion/Angélil home in Vegas two or three times a week, and they speak on the phone daily — though always via a third person, because it’s hard for Giampaolo to understand what Angélil is saying on the phone.

Angélil underwent treatment for cancer at Boston hospitals last summer.

“He’s doing very well,” said Giampaolo. “I’m not his doctor, but what I can say is he’s recuperating well. He’s stronger every day, and he participates in everything I do. He guides me.

“Anyone that has major cancer treatment, it takes them a year before they really recuperate. But when I look at where he was and where he is today, it’s a very big difference. He can’t go out to talk to the public. He’s at home. He goes out to get his beard trimmed. (His old friend and former Colorado Avalanche general manager) Pierre Lacroix is his sidekick. He brings him out. So he has been doing little outings, which is fun. He can’t sustain a two-hour meeting. That would be too tough for him. The everyday pressure, he doesn’t want that. That’s why I’m here.”

But Angélil is still very much involved in Dion’s career.

“Oh yeah, he’s aware — he even puts stuff in the pacing of the show in Vegas,” said Giampaolo. “The Elvis American Idol thing is him. The Frank Sinatra song is him. He pushed for The Show Must Go On.”

It remains a struggle, though.

“His spirits are OK, but the man is living hell on Earth,” said Giampaolo. “Things that he loved to do, he can’t do anymore. But when we exchange on different things, he’s right in there. He gives me notes. It’s encouraging for me to see that.”

Giampaolo says it’s too early to tell what Angélil will do when Dion takes her show on the road next summer. She always likes to travel with her family, including her three sons, and they’re months away from deciding whether Angélil will be able to travel with them.

So we know she's doing some English material and that she's got a run of shows starting in September next year. Interesting!

Edit: we also know the album is late spring (so may ish) and three tracks are recorded.

Interesting to see how far they have come on the album already and to hear about the upcoming shows.

It's also encouraging to hear about Rene. It certainly isn't easy and I cannot put into words the strength he must have to push as hard as he has so far and to have his spirits be at least okay.

It's good to hear that he can at least take little trips out. The recovery this far may not sound like a lot to some people, but speaking as someone who has gone through this with family and friends, it sounds like his recovery is on a good path with positive progress. I pray it continues. It's good he isn't in this alone.

Thanks for posting the article.

45% English songs in the upcoming French tour? That is too much. It leaves a 55% for old French hits AND the new songs that should be introduced. Edited by LukeD

I thought the same. 45% Englusg is a bit much. Retire the worn out Englisg songs for new French material. I agree some of the English songs have to be there but don' t sacrifice French ones we!ve never had live. Still lots of time for things to be changed though.
