Pretty sure she sang If You Asked Me To that day also.

Yes she did. The uploader has uploaded the performance of If You Asked Me To from the same day on their channel.

This tour is the one I WISH I would’ve seen, and the one I want most to be available in HD streaming/Blu-ray. This song in particular is one of my faves, as well as the string versions of « Ziggy » & « L’amour existe encore ». IMO these songs have never sounded better. Her voice aged like fine wine, and while she doesn’t sound as “pristine” as she did when she recorded them, there is so much more soul in them.

They did a good job putting this video together. They chose flattering images/footage of Celine. And it has over a million views already.

He was particularly into this performance. More enthusiastic than some of his other Celine reactions. He’s always uplifting her legacy of performances which is wonderful.

And yes, this tour was amazing. I wish I could’ve seen it too.

There you are the full interview...

https://www.eonline.... dion billboard

This interview seems so poignant today. Hearing her talk about appreciating artists while they are around and able to perform, not waiting until it's too late. It's almost like a foreshadowing of the future she didn't know was coming. I'm so pleased she got that Icon award at that time and could enjoy that moment, and the world got to see what a true legend she is.

Celine has always been so thankful and so appreciative of life and how precious it can be, even at a young age. I remember once during an Oprah interview around 1996 - 1997, Oprah asked Celine what she was most grateful for and Celine replied saying that good health is the most important thing. I remember Oprah having a shocked reaction to Celine's answer at the time, because Celine was only in her 20's and 20 something year old's don't usually think about things like that if they are young and healthy. Celine has always been so appreciative of life, love and time. That's what makes her diagnosis that much more heart wrenchingly sad.

Does anyone have the link to that Oprah interview?

I've been thinking about it a lot lately. It came to my mind pretty much right away when I heard of Celine's SPS diagnosis, along with many other memories in Celine's career where I've angrily asked myself why? Why Celine? What makes this even sadder is that I know Celine would say Why not me? That's the type of person Celine is. It's not in her DNA to feel sorry for herself. Celine's naturally positive mindset, mental and physical strength is the only thing giving me comfort and hope that she will be okay throughout this experience and that it will somehow make her stronger then she ever knew she could be. I think that Celine will learn to discover new things about herself and learn to use her talents in a different way, or even discover ones she never knew she had. I believe the future is still bright for Celine! :giggle:

I really enjoy the 2017 tour. But it kind of frustrates me how she is just ever-so-slightly off from her vintage voice. Maybe I am delusional, but I feel like she could have had a much healthier chest voice for the higher notes if she had more rest in that era and put in a couple sessions with a vocal coach... she was still doing amazing things, but her technique seemed sub-optimal for what her preserved instrument was capable of.

I think a vocal coach could’ve helped. Late 2017 was actually quite good, especially December 30.

Agreed. It's fascinating to look back on her career... I think a big part of her was always trying to work hard, push herself to the limits, and keep climbing the mountain to icon status beacuse she knew how important that dream was to Rene. And it was her dream, too, of course. But she's also made it clear that she's never really cared much about awards, album sales, etc. That was always more of Rene's thing. And Celine always focused on being the absolute best she could be.

Since Rene passed, there's not someone to ensure Celine's horn gets tooted. Whereas people like Mariah, Shania, Reba, etc. are always trying to stay in the limelight. I think sometimes it's kind of tacky and it's not a great look to always be seeking relevancy. Madonna, for instance, took a lot of heat for always trying to be cool and stay on top it tarnished her career a bit.

I think, ultimately, this humble approach will make Celine even more beloved. Even before she got sick, she wasn't chasing awards and recognition. She always focused on live performance, doing things that brought her personal growth and happiness (like fashion), and being the best she could be... and connecting with the fans.

She has always been a class act through and through. And I hope that, even though Celine doesn't like tooting her own her, she is showered with more recognition in the coming years.

Ugh I miss her so much!

She always mentions With This Tear when she talks about Prince, it's sad that she didn't gave this song more attention in her career and especially after his death.

So glad we have this one though. Love it soo much.

You make a good point. Then again, I think there's hopelessly chasing trends, and then there's celebrating your legacy. I think Team Celine could have done a lot more with her album anniversaries, posting her old performances or rare footage, and acknowledging all the times she's gone viral...

On a semi-related note, I wonder what they (and she) really think about her being left off the Rolling Stone list.

They clearly don’t care about her career anymore. The anniversaries were a great opportunity to come up with some good concepts and promote her old catalogue. It all went unnoticed.

But on the other hand I wonder if this extremely passive attitude is due to the fact that Celine wouldn’t really benefit from higher streaming numbers or sales, because she did not write all these old songs. The main money would go to the writers, not her. Maybe that’s why she is not interested in promoting her music, but only in doing shows instead.

Don't you guys think that this song sounds totally like Celine's Unfinished Songs?

I honestly have no idea if the money would go to her or not, but her team definitely should have done better with the 25th anniversaries of Falling Into You (2021) and Let’s Talk About Love (2022). We are talking about her legacy, and specially keeping her relevant as an artist in this difficult time.

Exactly! It's legacy we're talking about. Celine Dion has one of the most successful careers ever. Nobody had the success that she achieved in both English and French between 1995 and 1999.

Everything that was built seems to be being destroyed very quickly and Celine Dion don’t deserve to be forgotten. She is still alive and her music must remain for eternity. Obviously, the royalties doesn't just go to her, but when you hear Think Twice, My Heart Will Go On or A New Day Has Come nobody thinks of the composer.

yes, but Celine also has a say in her career as she is now the only boss, and if she thinks that promoting old material is not profitable for her then she won’t invest her energy and effort. That’s the only plausible explanation for all this passiveness in my opinion. She used her albums rather as a means to attract people to her concerts but probably didn’t really earn much as she was not the author of her songs, unlike artists like Taylor Swift or Adele.
