There's another performance of La Religieuse on Un DB De Plus which doesn't have the close-ups, but does feature some "sultry" jazzy dancing. And Céline's so over-the-top committed to her lip-synch in the final verse that I'm sure she's going to pull a muscle or 12. :-D

I've never seen this performance before - it's as simple as can be, but what it makes it extra-entertaining is all the close-ups of Céline lip-synching to nonsense vocalizations. Talk about commitment. :-D

That's why Celine is a good actress... she PERFORMED a simple lipsynch :sofunny:

She's the best I know in doing a 100% perfect lipsynch...

Imagine if one day she participate in a RuPaul drag race and disput the lipsynch battle.... that would be epic :giggle:

It's kind of scary how good she is. But that is a test of a big Celine fan, if they can actually tell when she is lipping lol (just by the video, not by comparing audios).

Even today I was watching a performance of her singing Comme Un Coeur Froid -- and she was perfect. But that extra bit of emotiveness, and touching her face/head during the performance gave it away lol.

The video is available right now. It seems that Sony released three days ago a new playlist with Christmas Songs called 'Holidays Hits 2023'. Some Céline songs are included on it.

I think it's very easy to spot when Celine is lipping. Her mouth or singing gets very exaggerated and also her facial expressions are more exaggerated, imo.

Although I am not surprised regular people don't spot it so in that sense she is very good at lipping.

I was hoping to hear this song back in 2018 when she did her concert here. Too bad they removed it. It would be amazing and I am proud with this version to be heard in our country. They really did an amazing job with this arrangement. I really wanted this to hear in person.

This is such a powerful performance. She’s giving the iconic Celine energy that she often gave back in the 90s - when she was building up her reputation and proving herself. She always gave 110% in order to impress Rene. And she’s doing that here.

 

It hits me more and more each day that Celine’s facing the fight of her life right now. And iconic moments like this might all be in past. We’re all so lucky to have enjoyed and appreciated her while she was well.

 

I’m still hoping she can recover enough to enjoy more wonderful moments in her life and career. Even if it’s not how it used to be, which it’s looking like that will certainly be the case.

I know people are excited to share stuff, but this thread should be to share YouTube videos in-thread, not make people have to click through to other sites.

 

Also, even if it's just a link, PLEASE ALWAYS INCLUDE A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU'RE POSTING, not just a random link or even a YouTube video that may be geo-blocked for various members.

You're right a trained fan can tell, but sometimes the exaggeration is more slight (and I know that's an oxymoron lol) ... but take for example her performance of "Paroles, Paroles" with Alain Delon -- I'm pretty sure that was lipped, and it's more of a subtle lip sync.

Its not the DVD version. Is the original TV version. The hint that can help you is that on the TV version the mic of Carole King is on and you can hear her voice with Aretha's at the first line of the song. At the DVD version they muted Carole King at this point.

I know the one I shared is the TV Version. The dubbing that I am talking about is the DVD Version :)

Yes true I have to say when she lips in french I find it hard to tell especially if I haven't heard or know the song too well might also be because I don't know the french language.

Or maybe since it's her native language she can pretend better so to speak, idk.

Even if an exaggeration is slight it's still there but you can be sure the exaggeration is always there on big notes like she has to show us she sings a big note which is funny because when she sings the same note live she might or often look effortless. :-D

I don't know but various Christmas playlist were uploaded to streaming services fifteen days ago. We should ask to Sony and Legacy.
