Ive never heard this interview before

Posted

This is very interesting. Listening to this interview really makes me think that Celine's spasm issues may be related to her ballet exercises/dancing. I hope not, because I know how much joy it brings her and how good it makes her look and feel. I could see in interviews that ballet had seemed to give Celine this new found confidence and happiness that beamed off of her that I hadn't seen in a very long time. I saw something within her that I hadn't seen since the 90's It would suck to have that joy taken away from her.

I also hope that she doesn't have to give up wearing high heels. I know how much joy that brings her. Shoes are Celine's main passion, behind singing and being a mother. Celine's first thing she bought herself with her career money was even a pair of heels, so that just goes to show how long heels have brought Celine joy and happiness in her life.

I hope and pray that it isn't a vocal spasm either and that this won't be a career changing situation. Knock on wood. I will try to think positive thoughts and prayers. I know that we don't know what kind of spasm this is yet, so I will try not to speculate and drive myself too crazy, but it's hard because I am so worried for her. I will try to think positive thoughts though because I know how strong and fierce or Queen Celine is! :) I have some comfort in knowing that Celine has the best possible doctors surrounding her and friends and family to support her through this. Sending all my love and prayers for your recovery Celine! :giggle:

Which interviews did you see her more beaming and confident? I never noticed a difference to be honest, so I am curious. I love it when she glows!

A vocal/neck spasm would be the worst. Very painful.

So David made her do the high ABM note 7 times? In her book she writes that she did it once, that take was used and that was it cause she was scared about her voice.

She said in interviews many times the story of that Big Note about David making the key higher and singing the Big Note for at least 7 times.

i never read her books yet but in her interviews she always says she sang the big note 7 times and shocked her when she met david at the studio surprising her that he bumped up the key higher than what they have agreed on before.

I’ve never heard the “seven times” story. I would also find it surprising since they had to use the ABM version on “Sola otra vez” because she couldn’t hold the note that long again (if you listen closely, just the beginning of the note is different, then it blends into the original ABM note). If she couldn’t do it just one more time for “Sola otra vez” I would find it hard to believe that she ever did it more than once. And I don’t think it had anything to do with protecting her voice; I think she went all out but, at least in the mid 90s, it was really pushing the limits of what her voice could do. It is strange indeed. We always find out stuff like this years later. Same with the final version of MHWGO and that it was apparently not recorded in one take, but in many takes.

And by the way, what do you guys think about the possibility of the existence of video footage of the Spector sessions?

We know that Rene wanted to document all important moments in her career, and the Spector production was definitely a huge and promising project. Maybe there was a camera in the studio. Do we have any info?

Watching this tonight and -WOW- the memories of watching this over and over again on my VHS are all coming back.

That's the best quality I've ever seen of this special... Wish we could have a DVD like the These Are Special Times one...

I remember it aired so many times here on TV, and I've recorded them all.

Because sometimes they cut out songs, so each time it was different.

And I was so young, I never understood how she went from outside to inside onstage that quickly :sofunny:

Did she perform LCMM outside in full, or really just 1 verse?

Those specials would be a fantastic gift to the fans as a box set for her 40th anniversary… if only.

If she had recorded the song at other points in her career, she may have been able to do it multiple times. I think in 95/96 whenever she recorded it, her voice really gained fluidity but especially the FIY era the upper range wasn't always there in the same way.

But that note is just insane.

The most important is she is being respected by many of course except for bitter fans like lambs.

If she will sing this again. I don't want an acapella. I want this version (1993-2007)

Yes, from 1998 onwards she would have probably found it easier.

recently somebody asked for rehersal footage with Beyonce and Destiny's Child from 2002. There you go: :)

Why was there an audience for rehearsals??
