I really enjoyed reading your post. I know we give you a lot of crap about always bringing up lip synching, but it's great to see that you pay attention to more than just vocals - which is what we all assume when you post about lipping. But after reading your detailed post, I get that you look more into her persona and energy during live performance as well as the circumstances surrounding them, versus lipped performances. I won't be so quick to look away in your future lipping posts, as I'm sure there will be some.

I don't know how often she lips and when she doesn't, but I can say that I don't agree with lip synching. I believe it to be a lie to your audience. Celine has such great ability to sing anything at anytime, I don't understand why she does it. Her voice is wonderful. A live performance, although not perfect, is always perferrable to a fake one. The energy and focus is so much better when it is live. I agree with you! I also don't think it is "hating" on Celine to complain about a lipped performance. I love her and it seems you do too. It is OK to not like what someone is doing, it doesn't mean you hate them. That is silly.

Stumbled across this on Youtube. Someone has mashed up Celine's "My Heart Will Go On" with Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away."

Lol damn, you practicually make me sound like a criminal or something. I think people tend to forget that I'm quite simply just the person that brings it up. I'm not the person doing the act, that is Celine and her team. The fact that people have resentment towards me for bringing it up strongly indicates they do in fact have a problem with her doingit, and many choose to take it out on me! Don't kill the messenger! lol

Thanks for your post! I completely agree. Wish everyone else would see this the way you do! Like I said, I don't expect for TPOL to be as perfect as the playback she uses. I enjoy the live performances, such as Brunei for example, much more! I think we all tolerate it to an extent, but recognize a fine line at some point. For me, that is passed when she lips a duet with the original singer, as she did twice with Andrea Bocelli (TAST Concert, Grammy Awards, and UK Special - okay so three times), and the recent time with Diana King (which she has lipped with her on other specials as well). I also think the entire An Audience With special crossed this line to. The only artist in decades of programming to ever use playback in that show. And once you add in all the celebrities and key figures in her audience....Wow, what an embarrassment. There are certain times where it definitely is not okay (which to be honest IMO that is EVERYTIME as I almost never see it as okay, but these specific times even more so).

Tyler, do you know why the performances of Think Twice and A New Day Has Come from the TC Tour where that great? Because these songs were not such a routine for Celine; she didn't sing them every night for one entire year, like the rest of the setlist of the tour, so she got the chance to really enjoy herself while singing.

Yeah I absolutely loved that performance of "A New Day Has Come" in Korea even though she messed up the 2nd verse. It was because she messed up that made the performance all the more endearing. I was convinced we were gonna get this song on the UK leg of the tour as it was her last top 10 hit here but sadly we didn't. At least we got "Think Twice" though, no way she could leave that out here.

This isn't true. There are other artists who have lip-synced their ''An Audience With...'' special such as the Spice Girls back in 1997 and Barry Manilow in 2011.

Michael Bublé has apparently either lipped or dubbed his performances from his ''An Audience With...'' special. That's what some of his fans claim. Dunno f it's true or not.

I realize that the most recent topic here has been the Jamaica Jazz Festival, but I have to say, I just watched the Sept. 2011 Rachael Ray interview with Celine AGAIN. I love it! They are both so accommodating and funny. I laughed and cried. Total enjoyment. So....anyone need a pick-me-up?? Watch that interview. Sooo good!!

Wow, this LCMM performance is really neat. She incorporates a lot of the LCMM adlibs from the CD into this performance, such as 2:30-2:40...when was the last time she did that one?? It's rare she does that one.

The performance I posted is the real performance from March 25th, 2003. It is from the opening night.

The CBS Special broadcasted from opening night was not from opening night, but instead it was from one of the dress rehearsals (March 15th, 2003).

The CBS Special broadcasted from opening night was not from opening night, but instead it was from one of the dress rehearsals (March 15th, 2003).

The CBS special it was from the opening night! They didn´t show the first song "Nature boy" but you can hear few lines while Justin Timberlake is still talking about the show at the beggining! It wasn´t a dress rehearsal! Remember when Celine lost her shoes during the opening night, she told that story many times and that was from the opening night!

CBS would not say it on opening night if it really is not.
