Its sad to hear this has happened - but something has been needing to change for a long time - what this change will bring of course is unknown but by god in a sad way, its sorta exciting.

No offence to the ones that have been let go - they are apart of the family across the board - but for me if Elise is fired, that will bring me to tears!

Celine and her band have always been a great team. I loved the interaction with the bandmembers. But I have to say the arrangements really needed to be updated!

The best example is how they treated the powerballad Loved me back to life. It was dull, too simple. Same for my heart will go on that has always been played like this. A new arrangement that comes closer the original would be great in my opinion. As much as I feel sorry for her bandmembers having to leave the band , I think changes can be good! I will wait and see and I have to say I am excited for these new wind in her career!

When you look back through the years she has been performing during tours, arrangements have been exactly the same, year after year.

Like her or not, but Madonna knows how to bring her older repertoire in a new fresh arrangement every time she tours again. So I think that is what Celine also needs, a new and fresh approach to make those older songs exciting again.

I am surprised at how many people left (Mego and Andre especially). Mego and Andre were there for like 20 years.

 

Everyone is entitled to change. As Incognito said, nothing lasts forever. Is it sad? Yes (at least it is to me, if only for the sake of those let go). But, let's face it, if she was open to continuing without Rene as her manager, I would think everyone involved in the show would know full well she would continue without any of them too. A lot of change! It will be interesting to see how this plays out, both creatively, professionally, and how they spin it in the media.

 

We will never really know what happened, but with all of these changes behind the scenes clearly something is going on. I suppose we will see or hear soon enough!

UPDATE. she has done a new photo shoot for the relaunch of Vegas show and apparently she looks amazing. Source is from a friend who has contacts in Vegas.

 

I‘ve no idea how the show can run w/out them. I do hope Celine's new management team can make something new and big.

Wow! This is huge!! I m not sure what I think about this. I'm excited to see the changes that are coming. And I'm so sad to see these wonderful people go.

 

Part of me wonders with the news if this break from Vegas was two-fold. Partly to take care of Rene, etc but also to use this time to revamp her, her image and the Vegas show.

I think it's terribly sad. One of the beautiful things about Celine's team is its cohesiveness for all these years - Mego and Andre have been with her for 25 years! They're a musical family and have been through so much together. That team has proven they're more than capable of a million different styles.

If she wanted a different type of show, she could do it with them. Mego's been with her since the Incognito tour! Been around the world with her so many times!

 

Also - the way it was done - it sounds like these long time collaborators were abruptly called by Celine's administration - not even by her or Rene. (Well, Jean-Seb at least; don't know about the others). After all those years, she owed them at least a personal meeting ( maybe she did with some of them - I don't know)

 

Celine & Rene have always treated their team so well. If this is management without Rene - well, then, I'm sad for the future.

 

And I just don't understand - b/c Celine has always talked as though she loved having all these people with her for so long.

I hardly ever post!

 

But firstly - I doubt they were sacked! The sad thing here is that they have been a part of the 'family' for a very long time. It has to come to and end at some point. Sad as it is - contracts are contracts.

 

Secondly - the arrangements haven't changed in 20+ years so I'm all for a shake up to some degree - it's just sad that I've been following these guys all around the world and they became part of my 'family' if that makes sense. Familiar faces were always welcome when in different parts of the world.

 

It will be VERY sad to see them go - but maybe this is just what Celine (the product) needs.

We have all been saying that we wanted change, well here we go. I find it most odd that they let Seb go if they are going for a new look. He's young, hot AND talented. We have all been saying her arrangements have been the same for

years and getting boring, this was unfortunately Mego's job. I think while shocking and upsetting, at the same time this could be a good thing. Before we send an angry lynch mob to Celine Headquarters, let's just see what happens before we judge this decision entirely.

Sometimes only drastic change can push things forward. I wish them all the best. Something tells me it will be for the better long term. Some fresh blood and energy will come with new people. I look forward to hearing new arrangements and maybe some new songs.

It does seem bizarre because the live shows and tours are exactly what has been working - money wise - for the last 12 years! Yes the arrangements and set lists may have become stale to us but they were still able to put bums on seats whether that be in Vegas or out on the road.

 

The thing that hasn't been so successful has been the music that's been released. Certainly we all accept Celine's days of ruling the charts are over but really since One Heart each release has gradually been met with less and less success. With the exception of Sans Attendre her music hadn't had any staying power for years. It's this that surely needs the attention not firing band members with 25 years service.

 

Perhaps the lack of incorporating newer material into shows has become an issue but surely if Celine wants a song in a show then she can control that?

 

The ONE thing that's been consistent in making them money since 2003 is live performances in Vegas and touring. Maybe the well know phrase if it ain't broke don't fix it should be remembered here?

And a new 'careermove' well, as long radiostations wont play any song sang by celine dion, as long they choose stupid singles, and as long her promotionteam sucks, they can fire anyone, but it wont do anything for her career...

Celine has a huge heart and is probably really sad regarding the decision and yeah we don't know the whole story yet... but in business people come and go and change can be good, and yes they are some of the most talented and nicest guys you will ever meet and I wish them well!
