Hey guys- saw this on Instagram although not sure if the source.

 

Apparently Celine's violinist Jean Seb has been 'let go' from the team by administration to create a new look for Celine. He doesn't seem very happy (understandably) . So there are changes happening...not sure to what end though!

I'm surprised no one has started a topic on this. Earlier last night, Jean-Seb posted this on Facebook:

 

It took only 8 minutes to end 12 years of dedication and collaboration. It seems that the new administration of Celine wants a new image for her. ( the reason they gave me!!). I leave with my head up knowing that I always gave the best of me and this is now the end of a long chapter in my carreer as a musician! A big thank you to Céline and René for this beautiful experience.

 

I have no idea what this new "Image" the new management is going for. All we do know is that the band, when they return, will be without Andre, Yves, Mego and Jean-Seb. What are your thoughts about this new development?

Everyone...I dont post on the forum much unless I have something important to say..especially over the last year or so...I am a huge fan of Celine and keep up with all the news as best I can. I wanted to post something that I just read on one of Celine's musicians facebook pages. I do not want to post the entire post because I dont know if they would appreciate that, but from what I read something BIG just happened today. Something big and not good. They listed several Celine musicians and performers in the post talking about how much they used to admire Celine and her family oriented work enviornment, work ethic etc. They posted how disappointed they are today March 9th with Celine's new management and how this latest news they got this week is devastating. I am paraphrasing here to give you a general idea of what was said. Many people posted in reponse how upset they are with what just happend..but I dont think anyone knows exactly what happened..only something DID happen today and it was extrememly significant with the musicians involved with Celine including ones that have been with her for decades. It was a very sad and heartbreaking post, but it did not really go into great specifics what exactly happened so I do not know if people were fired, let go, the show was cancelled for good, a new show is being planned and her team was let go for creative reasons, but I do know someone very close to her musician team posted about being extremely upset with not just Celines management over these latest decisions but also Celine herself. I dont know if i should share the facebook post or not due to privacy concerns, but if anyone else has any info about this please feel free to correct me if I am wrong or if they have any additional information. I just read this post about 30 minutes ago and it sounded like this all happend today. Whatever the case..it does not sound good and many people are upset and angry. I wish I had better news, but I wanted to report what I read. If you have any questions please feel free to message me or ask me. Thanks for reading everyone. I think this is a very strange turn they are taking! Personally I never had much with Jean Seb....but I will be devastated if Mego, Marc, André, Yves and Elise are fired! But most of all I think it's very nasty it only took 8 minutes to end a good relationship

 

Imo a new image comes from new songs, hair, clothes and photoshoots.... it's all very weird!

 

Positive thing is... something is happening with Céline behind the scenes!

Sad as it seems and I wish him the best, but for years most fans have complained ( me included ) that they always play things safe and are repeatitive in what they do/choose and wish they would change there approach and would add something/someone new to the mix. Well it looks like that's now, so let's just wait and see what they bring to the table... It's exciting and a bit scary, but we have to wait and support her either way, like we always do!

I think the translation could be slightly wrong when it talks of a new image. Because the actual line is:

Il semble que la nouvelle administration veuille de nouveaux VISAGES....(raison donnée.)

 

It seems that the new administration of Celine wants new FACES for her.

 

Still very shocking to hear this. And if the above post from CelineManiac07 is true, are more to follow?! As Davey said. It'd be heartbreaking to see old faces like Mego, Andre, Yves Marc and Elise go.

 

A new look show is a good thing, but I'd have expected it to continue in the same vein, as I think it's a concept that works well in Vegas, just needed a different set list and more of Celine's back catalogue. But if they're firing musicians than a radical rethink must be on the cards.

I hope they aren't going to go back to a New Day style of show with lots of dancers on stage. It's be better if theyre following the Sans Attendre concerts concept.

Either way its exciting times. Guess we have just got to hope that they know what they're doing. And that they aren't going to complete lose the dynamics and excitement of a live Celine show by tweaking it past the point of no return. After all Celine live is not just about her Vegas residency and changes of this level will have a major impact on any future tours

MEGO!!!!! no that is just horrible. he has been with her through thick and thin. through good times and bad. even if they want to revamp things, it doesn't mean they have to fire the musicians.

It seems based on what others have said...that almost every single one of Celines long time musicians have been let go. This includes Mego, Jean Seb, Andre Coutu, and Claude Lemay..as well as many others. If this is true..this is a very very sad day. They have waited..and waited and waited for Celine to come back when she and Rene were ready..and then within minutes after waiting for them they are fired..I just cannot begin to describe how awful that is. Show Business can be a cruel cruel world...I will comment more once I have more information...

I wonder what Celine thinks of all this. Surely she must have had to be a part of these huge decisions. Her musicians have been her FAMILY for so many years. I do not want to believe that Celine would just let her "new management" give pink slips to her family of musicians without uttering a single word to them after all this. I wasn't in the room during the "meetings" but surely Celine has played a part in this somehow. Surely she has reached out to them. I am absolutely shocked by this. I mean are they going to come back with a new show and Metallica will be her backing band now? This is getting ridiculous and I feel for all her musicians. My heart goes out to them.

Exactly! I can't believe Céline approved this with a blink of an eye! And what's worse, her musicians have been nothing but supportive of her break and then to be sacked liked this, that's just really nasty!

I'm sure Celine is aware and o course she will have reached out in some way- but obviously the reasons for the changes or whatever they're doing has been supported by her and Rene. It is very interesting after all this time.

 

I love Mego, I met Andre and had my picture taken with him in Vegas- these guys are Celine- but at the same time I have been dying for a dramatic change. It has been the same formula for so long.

As much as I love Celine's (former) musicians, a revamp doesn't mean a bad thing. Let's just wait and see.

But firstly - I doubt they were sacked! The sad thing here is that they have been a part of the 'family' for a very long time. It has to come to and end at some point. Sad as it is - contracts are contracts.

 

Secondly - the arrangements haven't changed in 20+ years so I'm all for a shake up to some degree - it's just sad that I've been following these guys all around the world and they became part of my 'family' if that makes sense. Familiar faces were always welcome when in different parts of the world.

 

It will be VERY sad to see them go - but maybe this is just what Celine (the product) needs.

Whilst i'm not overly upset about a change of direction artistically or musically it does seem very strange behaviour in terms of how we know Celine and Rene treat their "music family." We know that they appreciate loyalty and take care of people so this news seems very out of character if true.

 

We of course know nothing about the circumstances, could Caesars be applying pressure about how much the show is costing? Could this be Aldo coming up with his first big innovation in Celine's career? Could there have been serious disagreements behind the scenes? (Lipping?)

 

Let's not of course forget that the musicians have made an excellent living through their work with Celine and i'm sure that if this news is true they will find work elsewhere. It doesn't take away the fact that it would be sad to see the "Celine family" break up though.

Maybe they were a bit ticked by the way they found out about her break and that started a rift? Remember how they found out, she didn't tell them but they found out like everyone else.

No I doubt that, they have been nothing but supportive!

 

First they were supposed to rehearse for an Asian tour, then Vegas gets cancelled and the tour too...then all of a sudden you find yourself sacked! WTF!! I can't imagine a concert without them!

 

What would be the most horrible thing is that they have not ended with a BANG! Not a special last concert together, nothing! That for them must sting the most!

I find it impossible for her not to know about the band, she can't be that disconnected! I guess we shall see what the "Aldo era" holds!

we don't know if they fired only a few of them. Maybe they've sacked the whole band? We don't know anything...but I don't think she is coming back soon.

But even if she is, I think that we'll miss those folks but sometimes the change might be for the better.
