Celine Performs S'il Suffisait D'aimer In Vegas

I'm not sure what to think of this change. "Ne me quitte pas" was one of my personal highlights when I was at the show in Vegas. I would have loved it if they had replaced one of the English songs with "S'il suffisait d'aimer" (or another French song). I think two French songs would not be too much, given that it's Céline's native language!?

 

How many songs does she sing in the concert? 15? 2 out of 15 is not much, I guess.

When I was there in 2012, she sang 17 songs (or even more if you count the medley songs such as "Because You Loved Me", "The Power Of Love" etc. separately). I think two French songs would be appropriate.

I'm actually fine with At 17, she has a personal connection with it. I think it's great in the show.

LCMM is great, but it's getting outdated. MHWGO should always stay, along with OA. I mean, they're the opening and closing songs of her show.. so in my opinion, they should stay.

people want to see it for the majority... i would replace open arms .. a new day was perfect in the other show, but i can understand wanting to put something else. I'm not sure what else could be great, it is all about the correct setting. Not too uptempo, not too touching, finally not her best. I would welcome immortality and call the man, but it is almost too good to put at the beginning or it would not fit. LCMM is a good song, I still think. It's got an amazing message, and it just sounds great! I was thumping and I would love to see LEE and SJNRDT in the how. They would make amazing french songs, and CTM would just fit perfectly into the show.

I agree - anyone who thinks she can get away with not putting MHWGO in her Vegas show is smoking some better stuff than I am!! In a one off special concert- that is something she should get away with. But given the clientel of her Vegas audience, people go specifically for mhwgo, bylm, iacbtmn, tpol, wdmhbn, Abm, batb...

I don't know about NMQP, tbh. Initially I fell head over heels in loooove with it! I adored it; I was always listening to it nonstop. Fast-forward a year later, to this day, I dislike the song. Celine tends to over-dramatize it. Yes, showing emotions are an essential part of being a singer - it is how you connect with your audience. But I think Celine went way overboard with it.

I love the song! It just seemed staged and cheesy to cry every night. Some nights yes but every night takes that specialness away, so to speak.

If a second French song is to ever find its way into "Celine," it should be "Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi." The use of both English and French lyrics in that song would help the Vegas clientele connect with it better than an all-French song.

Could you just imagine, Wow! Pretty obscure though... She would probably lose quite a bit of people.

I would love to see RDMH removed from the show. When they revived the song in 2006 after 8 years of not performing it, it sounded fresh and it was sung perfectly. Now it's getting dated and vocally it's quite lazy. Together with LCMM, the 'uptempo' segment of the Vegas show is my least favourite part.

I really wish they would do a remix of LCMM and make it an exciting medley with Unison, maybe incorporating the rap like they did during the final year of AND which was really fun and creative. The current arrangement is hardly a medley, it's a butchered LCMM followed by a butchered RDMH...

I agree Tim, the problem with her English shows is that they start of well, but then they keep cutting and pasting without thinking of the flow; like the fact that the MJ Cello medley is still in there, while ben and MITM aren't! They keep relying on the succes numbers in the past and don't take any risks. I wish they took some of the magic of the musical choices and transitions of the French concerts, they were impeccable! If this show runs through 2019, I really hope at one point, it will be a totally new show, cos IMO it lost the magic it had the opening night!

It's time to bring back "That's The Way It Is"...PERIOD! It's a shame this great record of Celine's continues to be ignored year after year. It is a well-known Celine original and did great on the charts. Why it has been neglected for so long is ludicrous, in my opinion.
