CelinesDIVO5 Posted December 17, 2013 at 05:53 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 05:53 PM Come on, this song has nothing to do in Oscars It's like sending One Heart after winning the Oscar with MHWGO.One Heart was never part of a movie soundtrack Don't get me wrong (like Céline would say ), of course I would love this song being nominated and Céline to take home another Oscar, but only the thought of it is crazy. I mean, the song has not even been a single, nor released in radios. Nobody knows it, and we all know that another very important factor to nominate a song is the popularity it has reached among the public! It's just nosense.Indeed. People are funny sometimes on this board... Do they really think the other songs are Oscars-worthy? I mean US is not THE OSCAR song but same goes for most of the other ones ( and I really really doubt those who take US down know all the songs off the list as the majority are unknown...). Most of them weren't singles as well. "Unfinished song" won't be nominated only because it's taken from a movie which didn't have a widespread national release and nobody knows it. That's it. A soundtrack off an independant movie is never nominated. Soundtracks are not what they used to be anymore: who knows the last 10 winners? It doesn't have to do with quality. She won't make this year's nods list but she will next year with the Muppets. The Oscars are no longer what they used to be. Most nominations from most categories are pretty obscure. A lot of movies and producers that most of the general public has never heard of. A lot of times, these obscurities win some big awards. I'm not saying that US is Oscar worthy. But weirder things have happened at this ceremony. 3 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
Javito Posted December 17, 2013 at 05:54 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 05:54 PM (edited) That's the problem, that this song may be too "edgy" for those old judges :hmm:They're more used to the Céline in nightgown dresses performing snoozefest songs like "I Knew I Loved You" (which I absolutely adore) One Heart was never part of a movie soundtrack Really?! Come on, I put that example because its has a very similar style like Unfinished Songs. That song seems directly brought from the One Heart recording sessions (nothing to complain here, I LOVE that album ) Edited December 17, 2013 at 05:59 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
LuisMa Posted December 17, 2013 at 06:32 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 06:32 PM Remember that the old judges also nominated "Because when Canada is gone there'll be no more Céline Dion" Quote
couldawouldashoulda Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:16 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:16 PM Smw is right. It's happened it the past that an unknown song (from very little known movie) was nominated. Don't dimiss the underdog!! You guys would crap your pants if US was nominated and actually won! Don't forget that the members of the Academy Awards are older people...who love Céline and her Oscar performances!! It's true. Plus, Celine is still, I believe, a guarantee of higher ratings. (We'll know better after The Voice - although Ne-Yo and Gaga are there too, so I suppose we won't really know). My point is, the Academy Awards members may just want her presence on the telecast to ensure her large fan base tunes in. Quote

couldawouldashoulda Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:29 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:29 PM 2013? Yes - 2013. Although the award ceremony will be held in 2014, the Awards are for movies from the previous year, 2013. Quote
pat200 Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:30 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 08:30 PM if this song is nominated it will be only to get celine at the oscars and also to give diane warren the chance to finally win that oscar. Quote

It'd be great if some of that large fan base would buy LMBTL as its underperforming now. Idk, where statistics matter show business-wise, it would be argued that her fan base is rather small - her first week sales, her overall LMBTL sales, her twitter followers, her view counts on Vevo/YouTube are all rather dismally small. But by the same token, her supposed fans are older so they would not really be a factor in these social media stats. It's pretty hard to say how large her fan base is. If we knew for sure, I don't think LMBTL would be like it is now. Quote

I like to buy her albums and listen to them. I also like to watch her perform on television and see her in concert. But on social media, I simply couldn't care less. So you have a good point there. I'm far from 40 but i'm not paying attention that much about that too. So when i knew about the small amount of the follower, youtube view etc i didn't think it's because her fanbase is really2 small it's just because they don't really care about that. And about the low sales i'm sure it's because not everybody knows she had new album, it happens here. Maybe some of her fans are the same type with Celine too, they aware about the trend but not really interest to follow. Edited December 18, 2013 at 01:14 AM by gafsa Quote

ehild Posted January 3, 2014 at 06:48 PM Posted January 3, 2014 at 06:48 PM I love the song but I'm not quite sure it will be nominated, much less win. If it is, will/should be a HUGE celebration for Diane and Celine. And for Celine to appear in front of a billion people again, even better It'd be cool, even if it wasn't nominated, if they did something with Diane & Celine since they've worked together numerous times. It would still give Celine a chance to sing it live, if that were to happen. Wishful thinking probably but it'd be cool if they did something for them both honoring their careers. peanut91 Posted January 3, 2014 at 09:54 PM Posted January 3, 2014 at 09:54 PM I have a feeling that it will get a nomination. the song from the movie frozen seems like a good competition. However the academy has been loosing viewers constantly and they have this decade been giving some songs the award instead of those that deserve it. Dion is the academy's golden girl in my opinion. Plus since Ken is working with Dion in Vegas, anyway we can get in contact or send him letter's or emails about getting celine more involved, probably as a presenter, singer, host etc..... it would be really really cool Quote
