BartFCS Posted November 8, 2013 at 01:49 PM Posted November 8, 2013 at 01:49 PM (edited) I found out today something about the piano in Incredible. We all think they did it on purpose. But it was not the plan.I tell you why: I work with the same kind of software; when you put a channel with a certain instrument too loud, so above the overall soundlevel, you get a distorted sound. Listen to the live version in le banqier - gone is the distortion. Of course, they should have not put the level so high for the pianobut they did, so you get the distorted sound. I don't see any other reason for having that piano distorted. Distortion is always a result of a too high volumelevel for a certain track, in this case the piano. listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUzemVeBo1M 3:16 is the start of the piano.... gone distortion. they corrected the mistake. But unfortunately in the final mix it wasn't , that is why the song sounds overblown/distorted when it starts and that you think you have blown up your headphone or speakers..I get your point but that would never happen in professional recording studio. You always do your static mix first where all tracks are set at least or around -6db so you have plenty of headroom just to avoid this kind of situation. Of course there is more into it but it's more complex and some might find it boring I'm 100% sure it's intended. Otherwise we wouldn't have heard it in the first place I forgot to add that distortion can be added intentionally with many different plugins. Edited November 8, 2013 at 01:53 PM by BartFCS Quote
Javito Posted November 8, 2013 at 01:55 PM Posted November 8, 2013 at 01:55 PM (edited) In addition, every single piece of TV promo Celine has done for this album so far has focused on her new material. During the Taking Chances period, we had BYLM performed on Ellen and The Today Show, we had MHWGO performed on Dancing With The Stars. We had IDAN performed on the Today Show. And we had all 3 + plus ANDHC on Oprah. All these old songs took the focus away from the new material. But this time, they have ditched all the old songs and are finally concentrating on performing new songs, which is great to see. That's the best move they've done with her promotion in TV so far, and I still can't believe she has not performed a BYLM, TPOL or MHWGO in these shows and has only focused on the new material. I'm still rubbing my eyes for that. That was another "complaint" that I had on my list of mistakes made in the past with her album promotions, and except the "mini Vegas section of classics" in the NY show, I think they're learning to change that. BRAVO! Edited November 8, 2013 at 01:58 PM by Javito 3 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Allysadreams Posted November 8, 2013 at 03:38 PM Posted November 8, 2013 at 03:38 PM (edited) I need to have a proper listen from the album but I have to say so far ABYG and Thankful are my least favourite songs from the deluxe edition, I even love the bonus tracks lots more...I don't have the actual album yet so have only listened to the album twice all the way through so maybe the songs will warm to me, I don't dislike them, they are fine but I feel like better songs could have been chosen....But overall a great album....I'd say 7.5 out of ten Edited November 8, 2013 at 03:39 PM by Allysadreams 2 Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'

"Something I'd love to do is say, come to the UK for two months. No big production, just the unplugged version of my songs. Songs that I've never performed before, the unknowns and my favourites. I don't know what the theme would be exactly, but they'd be no orchestra. I've done so many big things in my life that these days, it's the little things that excite me now." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/interviews/a529877/celine-dion-interview-im-having-my-wild-moment.html 9 Quote

LukeD Posted November 8, 2013 at 05:51 PM Posted November 8, 2013 at 05:51 PM Funny these 2 are my least favorite songs from the album. The lyrics are just soooooooo corny.I find the lyrics of 'Thankful' to be direct, clear and somewhat introspective. Possibly the vocal performance which is on point adds to this positive impression..! If you notice there are two levels in this song, a fact which I find quite remarkable: There is gratefulness (well dah!) but the lyrics also indicate the narrator of the song has been through difficulties and pain. I get more the feeling of relief when I listen to this song than than the feeling of gratitude. On the other hand, the lyrics of 'Always be your girl' are banal and somewhat cute on the first listen. On the second listen and onwards - once you pay more attention to them - one can understand how shockingly cheesy they are. Not only the idea of a mother saying to her child ''since you're my boy I'll always be your girl'' makes me cringe, but also the phrase ''you're like a button on my sleeve'' is so awfully written. What makes things even worse is the fact that Celine has tackled the same topic several times in the past but with much superior lyrics as in last year's masterpiece 'La mer et l'enfant'. 6 Quote

tristan.josef Posted November 8, 2013 at 07:15 PM Posted November 8, 2013 at 07:15 PM things on my mind right now: 1. I loveeeeeee this album can't stop listening. first Céline album where i think every song is good in its own way and i love listening to all the songs. i only wish after all the wait the deluxe version had 18-20 songs instead of 15 but hey I'm just thankful! (no pun intended lol) 2. wonder if we'll ever see a full video of the edison ballroom show...i mean, some company had to have filmed the whole thing, right? 3. not in relation so much to new album, but still hoping the une seule fois dvd with lots of bonus footage comes out soon 4. I CANNOT WAIT to hear the studio version of open arms! japanese album get here already! 5. now that we know Céline will be in vegas for the next many years doing shows and is moving the whole fam damily there, I'm hoping that means that with the added long term stability and less cross-country traveling we will see studio visits not so far between. the way i see it, in the next 4.5 remaining years of the current vegas contract, with much less traveling for her to do and more of a "routine" even moreso than she currently has, there's no reason we shouldn't get at LEAST one more french and one more english album before the 2019 contract is up. anyone agree? or is that just wishful thinking on my part? thats all for now. 1 Quote
