isurrender Posted November 20, 2013 at 12:31 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 12:31 PM (edited) Unfortunately I have to agree. Earlier i said that no single will probably save this album. I'm not sure what will save it. Her TV appearances have hardly impacted at all as well. Her upcoming Christmas adoption special will doubtedly have major impact. Just maybe we have to seriously consider that this is her first underperforming album in the US. Hope I'm wrong. Which TV appearances exactly? You mean the ones watched by 3 millions of people she did 1 week before the album was released? What kind of impact could it have? Céline Dion : the only artist stopping promotion before the release of her album. Promoting an album when it's not even out, it's useless to me. She needs now to do something big , watched by millions of people ( The voice, please). Celine fans in the US haven't gone anywhere they just need to hear a big ballad to get them buying the new album. We had LMBTL and SLS performed during the promo and clearly this isn't what people expect or wanted to hear from a new album. Both tracks are great songs but Sony and teamCeline need to let the US market know that this isn't a completely new direction and the ballads that made America fall in love with that voice are still there. Oh really? Where were the fans then when she released "Goodbye's", "Alone" and "My love"? Edited November 20, 2013 at 12:32 PM by isurrender Quote
LukeD Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:01 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:01 PM Oh really? Where were the fans then when she released "Goodbye's", "Alone" and "My love"?I totally agree with Stuart2007, the songs you mentioned might flopped in United States but they are taken from successful albums. It is not about singles success, it is about awareness. Nobody suggested that a ballad should be served to radios as the second single, but it is indeed a fact that ''modern'' songs like 'Water and a flame', 'Loved me back to life' and 'Somebody loves somebody' did nothing for Celine. I'm sure most of her fans would say that 'Loved me back to life' is not even a ballad, but rather a 'Rihanna'-song! So, what Celine needs to do, is to show people that her album also has the 'old-school' vibe that made her popular. In United States live performances of 'Thankful', 'Overjoyed' and 'Incredible' will have a larger impact than the songs I mentioned earlier..! 2 Quote

Based on current trajectory, she'll plummet to 15k sales next week - if she's lucky. There is nothing to stabilise the sales - no promotion, no radio airplay, no hit single, no press, no appearance of any sort - nothing. The US album's performance is dead in the water. Its just unbelievable. She needs a miracle. 1 Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

That's the positive outlook we need Its not even been two weeks since LMBTL album has been released, there will be more promotiopn and even as it stands at the moment is hardly a flop by todays standards, she was number 2 in the US! People are just not buying anymore, having said that Sony USA have been shocking in promoting the album although I said the same about Sony UK and then we got news of a bit of UK promotion so I am sure they've got something up their sleaves.....It's nearly Christmas and if they have any sense they will promote the hell out of the album! Celine doesn't even need to do all the promoting, hello tv adverts during prime time shows and a performance at the AMA's and the voice would see sales rocket......If they don't book Celine into these shows or she's not asked to perform I will eat my hat... anewdayhascome Posted November 20, 2013 at 06:18 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 06:18 PM Exactly! Releasing in nov sucks! because the first single doesn't become a hit, then we have Xmas time and nothing in between, later they release a second single but by then people will forget about the album and the second single won't become success either. If Celine promoted her albums and singles all the time that wouldn't be so bad but she always does the promotion before/around the time of the release and then nothing... so I don't believe it'll change Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019
