I don't agree with what this guy has done, but I think both of them need to learn a lesson out of this, because nothing of this would have happened if Céline had presented a new original song instead of this cover.

 

Nothing of this would have happened had Daniel been mature, professional and not a pressed, desperate moron who tries to build a career using social media.

its true more and more websites are picking up on it and it's getting worst ,making the album sound like a cover album..at the end it said that Celine Dion's management has been contacted for comment...won't be long now before Rene Comments on this,or just decide to change the Title of the album or Drop the song....

Before playing the song, Katie asks Celine about her "new favorite artist", Adele, and Celine tells Katie how much she loves Adele. Celine continues by talking about "Water And A Flame"....about how much she loves it....and how it's a bit different from what she's used to singing. She doesn't mention anything about who wrote the song."

I'm surprised they posted something about this, well done. But their response is very predictable: polite and courteous as always! Like "oh sorry to have bothered you, we apologize and we still like the song so much"... WTF? They should have said clearly that they no longuer want the album to be titled "Water and a Flame" and remove the song from the tracklist to make this Daniel see with whom he was dealing

Personally i'm starting to doubt the quality of the songs she receives now. 1990's Celine, everyone wanted their song to be sung by her. Now.... not so much.

 

I vote for Celine to start writing herself - but maybe writing in english scares her a bit, as obviously it's not as natural for her.

 

My view about the covers etc, a lot of these songs being mentioned i wouldn't even know they're covers! Yes, that's how out of touch i am!

 

It would be soo interesting to hear songs written by her, in english or french.. I don't think that for any english speaker it is hard to write the lyrics.. (normally they use a combination of Forever, and ever, tonight, together, love...

 

I always say it... I'd rather prefer songbook covers or really written by herself original songs... but the 50% of the lyricians they have used are pretty weak writting about standard feelings... specially in the 2000's albums

Sorry, but IMO you got that one wrong (despite of many interesting points you made in previous posts). I find their reaction rather explicit and defensive..

I find it quite remarkable to read a few stylistic flaws in it. Not that I bother, but that's not really professional..

Also saying they hope to be successful with the new album; that's awkward to say..

I think this guy is so desperate te get some promotion on his what he will call career. No better way to reach people than via celine.so he must credit her for singing his song because let' s be honest who the f*ck was ever interrested in his songs if celine didn't sing it. I just hate it that they always manage to find every little 'mistake' celine makes.she is the best person in the world and she will be the last one who would do things like that i'm sure she would mention his name if he would ask her so he won't cry with his mom at night.

GOD! i just said to Davey and John, what is she supposed to have said? how embarrassing - way to tarnish a song...didnt like it much anyway and its a crap album name - breakaway is much better but once again - its not like no one's named an album that before but hey. Dont they even mention in their response that obviously somewhere along the line someone from daniels camp must have given permission for her to sing the song?

Celine continues by talking about "Water And A Flame"....about how much she loves it....and how it's a bit different from what she's used to singing. She doesn't mention anything about who wrote the song. Despite the headlines that have emerged from Daniel's publicity, Celine certainly doesn't claim in any way whatsoever that she wrote the song. While we can understand Daniel's disappointment by not having his name mentioned during Katie Couric’s interview, it's rather unfair to Celine to be on the receiving end of the many disparaging comments that have now become public.

 

Throughout Celine’s 32 year career she has always been very vocal about sharing the credit for her successes. She has been very vocal about the fact that she does not write her own songs...and that she is fortunate to have wonderful and talented writers to provide these gifts to her. For her to be accused of "stealing" a song is not only grossly inaccurate, but also very hurtful. During the thousands of interviews that she's given over the years, it's often that she will not mention the names of the writers involved. It's something that may not come up a lot in the interviews. That said, when a Celine Dion album is released, we always include complete and accurate writer credits in an updated bio, and of course, inside the CD packaging. Celine's new English album will be released worldwide this Fall. We are very excited about this new album, and we hope to have great success with it....and great success for all those who have contributed.

 

She loves Daniel Merriweather and Eg White’s song so much, and would never want to do any harm to them....nor take away anything from them....in fact, the opposite would be true.

If its a single and its the title of the album.. she'll be promoting every one that was involved in that song including Daniel Merriweather... If she starts saying all these beautiful things about him, loll we'll all know its full of cr@p : P
