I think it's interesting that -- much as we all like different styles among the many Celine has done over the years -- the ultimate fan favorites are the big, super-dramatic power ballads for which Celine is most well-known. Not that the songs are necessarily the most well-known (Call the Man certainly isn't) -- but the style is what Celine's most well-known for.

 

Also, considering how few songs Jim Steinman has done with Celine, it's pretty amazing that he has 2 songs in the top 4. Clearly they should work together again!

Celine might have covered the song from that woman.... but celine released it officially first I believe.... so that makes Celine the original.... anyway IS is a good song but never a huge fav of mine...

Come on, I disagree with that logic. It'd mean that if I pick an un-released Celine song (from the Phil Spector sessions, for example) and release it, I'll be the original singer! No no no! :pinch:

Hi... brujocrow! :P I learned about Phil Spector because of his work with Celine. Other than that I never cared about him..! I think he boasted about his recordings with her, so most people (me included) who know about their collaboration are quite curious about the results of it.

It did not surprise me much. I consider most of her up/mid-tempo songs to be filler material and if not, they usually pale in comparison to her ballads. Most times, it's as if they were included in her albums to balance the result, so that it does not come off as heavy and dramatic. For example, 'When the wrong one loves you right' and 'Unison' are her best up-tempo songs for me, but still not in the league of 'I surrender'/'A new day has come' and 'Where does my heart beat now'. Same goes for 'Misled', awesome song, but what would the 'The Colour Of My Love' be without 'The Power Of Love', 'Think Twice' and 'Only One Road'? These ballads are the heart of the album. I know very little about him myself. I heard John Prine sing this song "If you don't want my love" and it was a great performance. Turns out Phil wrote it.

In popular music, a cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a contemporary or previously recorded, commercially released song, usually by someone other than the original artist.

There were nights when the wind was so cold that it froze a lot of my favorite songs in this game, so I'll save Call The Man.

 

Shine a light ahead when the future is unclear, so that my saved It's All Coming Back To Me Now reaches the final next week, Caritos!!

Easily my least favorite of them. Things might change when it comes to choose between 2 songs, all of them are very close.

This is my first post. Unfortunately I was too late to take part in this thread. Such a shame to see some of my favourite songs eliminated. However I'm willing to bet that the favourite of most fans is not the winning song of this game... Anyway great fun!

Yea I agree that the song that will be chosen will not exactly be the fan favorite. As some of my extreme favorites were voted off a long time ago.

Yes IACBTMN is excellent! To tell you the truth the one I'm not crazy about is Call The Man :wacko: How it remains is puzzling.

 

Haha, I didn't even know that IACBTMN was one of Luis' favorites!

 

I actually love the Call the Man, too . .I think Jim Steinman is a genius and I wish Celine had done more with him. But the last minute or so of Call the Man takes away from it for me. .it just seems so random and out of place.

 

But IACBTMN . now that is complete perfection. Utter, over-the-top melodrama that is supposed to be over-the-top melodramatic, and so it works perfectly! And Celine makes it infused with such passion and emotion -- and with a voice that is absolute crystal-clear beauty . . .not to mention the most amazing viedo in that castle, with that dress . . . I adore every single second of the 7-plus minutes, from that first dramatic chord to the last whispered "and if we . . . " and every "baby, baby" in between.

 

(I love I Surrender, too . . .just not quite as much as IACBTMN)
