Oscars 2013 to salute James Bond movies, possible Céline appearance

I love Barbra`s performing. Her hommage on Marvin Hamlisch was touching; and Adele: she was wonderful. Her perfomance was stunning. love her

Call me crazy but I didn't like Shirley's performance, Celine sings that song sooo much better.

 

Adele was amazing she looked very beautiful. Barbra was okay, her voice is not what it used to be, but she is Barbra! I liked Norah Jones' song. And the Musical medley (Chicago, Dreamgirls and Les Mis) was great.

I listened to Adele's skyfall performance and she was not off - but - the mixing engineers did a very bad job mixing all together. They made the piano and the strings and the horns etc. overblow Adele's voice. Adele sang it exactly as the version that we know, but esspecially in the refrain she could not get her voice to top all the instruments. That is just a mixing problem. Had the microphones of the instruments been less in volumelevel, Adele's voice would have been louder.

 

And for the rest, Shirley was asked to sing that Oscar song, because it was her song. It would have been totally wrong if they asked Celine to do the song instead of her.

It would have been a slap in the face of Shirley.

Like other say in here as well - stick to your own music Celine. We know you can sing everything that has been recorded and make it sound wonderful - but - these are not your songs. And I don't think Celine should be having success with already known songs. I rather want her being honoured for her own repertoire.

 

That bond-medley in the show is great, but it should not be performed in a Oscar performance when Shirley is still alive. Would she have been honoured because she does not live anymore, than that is a different thing , but not now.

Same for Adele who is still so young and in the start of her career. Fine that Celine loves her songs, but please stay away of these songs, they are too well known, to well known because they are Adele's and in my opinion it is pretty easy to use her songs. Celine you are a mega artist and you should not be world's greatest karaoke singer. Because that is what I call this whole Vegas show, exceptions of course her own songs.

Argh it's really sad to read everywhere, now that Adele won the oscar, about artists that have reached the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Status, and that Celine Oscars doesn't count because they were given to the songwriter ..... It's time for that Callas Movie, with an original song written by her...So that way we will have her for best actress and best song ... and who knows maybe replace Vegas for Broadway for a while on "Callas:The Musical" Edited February 27, 2013 at 01:42 AM by Loup_garou
