Just read this year's Academy Awards on Feb 24 will feature a tribute to the James Bond franchise..... I wonder if Céline will be part of it. She performs a JB medley in her show and has no show on the 24th. And since she already is the most frequent artist to perform @ the Oscars...... :hmm: Edited by CSCfan

Good question, I would think so if she not going back to Florida,or promoting her English album.

I think the title of this thread is rather misleading...

 

Here's what I read about this:

"Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced Friday that the show will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise, which they describe as "the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon."

 

So this doesn't necessarily mean it's a song tribute. Let's not get carried away just yet...

Yes it would be good,, and you're right about Adele. However, given Celine's admiration for her, it'd be great that she'd meet her if she attended and talk about a future collaboration.

 

If she is there, I hope it's for singing Unfinished Songs ^_^

 

That'd be amazing, but I think that will be more likely in 2014.

Adele is on break so I highly doubt she'll be there. I wouldn't get my hopes too up about Celine performing there (I'm 75% sure that they'll invite her) but who knows, we might be surprised. Let's wait and see...

Yes, possibly, but if "Skyfall" is nominated, as it is in the shortlisted songs for the Academy Award, she might be performing.

Adele is apparently performing at the oscars... I can see paul mc cartney, tina turner, adele, and other artists including celine performing a few lines each of a few bond songs in a cool medley, well heres hoping!!! :P

I have no doubt it will win too... Although I don't think it's her best song ever, is has been a huge hit all around the world, and the first soundtrack hit in ages.

So I am pretty sure she'll win the Oscar (for popularity reasons).

I think the song Skyfall is quite crap. Sooooo depressing - i much prefer the Bond songs with a bit more ooommmmphhhhh!!!! Even Goldeneye was better - i used to skip most of the song, and just listen to the end!

Still, I like her a lot and I'd love to hear her acceptance speech. She cracks me up sometimes when she talks in public.

Yeah, she makes me laugh too. And cringe at times, that's probably the snob in me though!! I don't think her speech would be on the same level as someone like Colin Firth! It would be fantastic to see a Brit win!! Hope she is there to sing it - def highlight of her career, i'm sure!

Sorry but it's true! :giggle:( She's got a mouth like a sewer at times). Only with certain accents from here - most regional accents we've got i love!

a crap????? I thinkit is a very good song, one of the best in Bond history. It suits to the movie ambient perfectly. It is so grandiose but still so melancholic and dramatic. It deserves the Oscar... I wish Celine would have sang this song instead of that little pop crap "Unfinished song" that it seems is going to be...

By the way... it's not that assured that Adele is going to win the Oscar. is one of that awards that academics always want to give to these singers (like Celine in the past) but, these last years they has always look for something more... and there is Scarlett Johanson and norah Jones... and of course the new song from Les Miserables... and it is a little logic that it's going to win Les Miserables.. the musical of the year... But I hope it is Adele the winner...

Skyfall is o.k. I don't feel it is Oscar material though. (imo) There were much better Bond songs than that. It's just a matter of taste. :) Edited by DionFanAlways

I don't know if Goldfinger is the best song that's in the tribute mood....although the instrumental sound of it is CLASSIC.

 

Presumably she would have to sing Goldfinger live...which she hasn't done (at least if we include the high note).

crap?? it is a masterpiece! it sounds like the older bond movie songs, it is glamorous, it is big, with the orchestra and Adele's voice is timeless! this song is one of the best pieces i have heard in a long time. I think it is a million times better then many other songs.

I think it is in the same league as My heart will go on. It is brilliant.

And yes it is definately Oscar material, and for those who cannot hear that, I don't think it is just a matter of taste. It is brilliant and absolutely not boring. You should have seen the opening of Skyfall in cinema and hear this song and see the videoclip.

Skyfall is awful :wacko: :sick:

 

this song will receive the prize only because it's from the Bond movie and because it's sang by Adele but as far as the song itself is concerned, it's really mediocre
