According to a French journalist, she's #1 album in France with 95,000 copies sold!!!!!!! :o

D'elles debuted with 55,000 - if this is true, this would mark her highest first week sales of any release since...A New Day Has Come I think!

OMG This is great! If I remember also ONCHP sold about 100000 in it´s first week and this happen again after 7 years!

1 Fille et 4 types debuted with 123k.

On ne change pas debuted with 108k.

D'elles debuted with 55k.

Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

How many copies ''Sans Attendre'' sold in Canada during its first week ?

Sales should get announced tomorrow, when the official charts come out - given how big the sales are in France, and given how well received her show was in Quebec in terms of ratings, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if she smashes the 72,000 copies that D'elles shifted in its opening week in 2007.

I think the 2nd place in Switzerland is still a very good place considering the fact that the whole country isn't French and that there has been no promotion so far and Robbie Williams is being played there for sure. I don't understand why are they waiting with Le Miracle

This is PHENOMENAL

95k = only physical sales right? So it should be higher with digital saleS? I wouldn't be shocked if the Canadian sales exceed our expectations as well then

Did people just not respond well to D'elles?

When will we now were Celine charted in France??

Please take the time to read the topic - I posted just a few posts before yours that the album debuted at #1 in France overall [#2 digital].

@ your_su_phu - the album sold 95,569 overall [5,229 digital copies and 90,340 physical sales]

90k come from the physical sales and 5k from the digital ones, I checked that in UKMIX forum. Won't be a surprise if it sells 90k in Canada.

I wish D'elles had sold more, I love this album. I think people didn't respond well to D'elles cause it was a theme album, the promo was limited and the release date didn't help. I mean, who wants to listen to a dark, heavy album with complex lyrics (in the biggest part)... during Summer? :P ANHC, OH and 1F&4T seem better choices for that era..!

Me too. :thumbsup2:

Given the massive audience figures of Celine's latest TV special, the first-week sales for SA might be huge as well (back in 2007, a total of 72,200 copies of D'elles was sold in Canada in the first week). I wouldn't mind if that number was topped with Sans attendre.

Let's just hope that the success of this album will encourage Celine's team to quickly release the videoclip for 'Le miracle' and already prepare the release of the third single.

D'elles sold over 280,000 copies overall in France [55,000 first week] - it was proof that its not how you start, its how you finish.

Sans attendre will hopefully do the business for her too.

D'elles sold 72,000 copies first week in Canada, 69k of which occurred in Quebec - hopefully, Canada embraces her again on such a grand scale [we know she's #1].

Numbers in France are insane! SO AWESOME. There are English acts in the USA with 3 x the population that don't sell opening week numbers like that! 95K is incredible!!

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict over 100K for Canada with these numbers in France

^ Yeah, even in the US, sales right now are so dismal that top 10 debuts only have to manage 50k D:

You know, I really enjoyed D'elles at first, but although I think it was very ambitious artistically, it might have felt too heavy handed (and thus disingenuous? pretentious?) for some people, whereas this album is more true to Celine

I agree. I still enjoy D'elles, it is without a doubt a very personal, sophisticated album. However, Sans Attendre came to be more personal than D'elles and more commercialized for sure. Add the fact that her voice sounds better in Sans Attendre & the solid promotion the album recieves and you explain why it sold 200k in its first week (92k from Canada and 95k from France) which is 1/4 of what D'elles sold in total.

Have just seen on twitter that Sans Attendre has the highest 1st-week album sales of any francophone album in Canada since Nielsen records began in 1995

Woooooot!! Goooo Celine!!!

This is probably, vocally, her least demanding album, and it's on the way of becoming her most successful french album since "S'il suffisait d'aimer", especially considering we're in the digital era.

"Le Miracle" is the best choice for second single, and "Si Je N'ai Rien de Toi" or "Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour" should follow, to attract the younger audience. That way this album has the potential to remain inside the TOP 20 in France and Canada for quite a long time!

+1!

Agree. Maybe people/not so hard fans like us were tired of big vocals and high notes? This album came as something different that in my opinion, was much needed already in her career ^_^
