It's poetry, which is always hard to understand in a language other than the one in which its written -- but I think it's supposed to be an ironic "I Don't Need Love" to heighten the dramatic effect -- i.e. as you're listening to her sing it, it's obvious that she *does* need love. But I don't understand more than that -- *why* is she pretending not to need love? Is the "someone everyday in her arms" and the "kisses" supposed to from her children? Is the love supposed to be romantic love as opposed to parent-child love? I don't really understand it. Quote

But in the end, when she says she needs it, it is because she knows you can't have enough love. One can think it like that too: Peoples think that maybe she have already enough of everything, and she acknowldge it, but in the end she is saying that she is like everybodyelse, she needs it . A manner to reach the life of all . Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

ferjaacu Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:06 AM Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:06 AM Amazing and powerfull lyrics It's one of my favs on this album I felt the same québecflower described when I read it... I don't think it's annoying, at least not for me... It's her way of expressing it Quote http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/5786913948_369265dbeb_m.jpg FERLO
québecflower Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:38 AM Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:38 AM (edited) after listening to the song 2 or 20 times, maybe the song talk about someone who is too prood and stubborn to admit she needs love, i don't know , it can have as many meanings as people listening to it, and that is why it is so great. And the music is perfect for the song, atypical. Edited November 2, 2012 at 02:42 AM by québecflower Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

No no no not at all lol I think that very croaky voice portrays the emotion in the song perfectly! Its what makes the song sooo great to listen to for me. The only critisism for me is like others have said, the chorus really needs to be repeated more at least one more time, it sends me to heaven! kev x Quote

Matias Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:35 PM Posted November 2, 2012 at 02:35 PM of course she needs love, she is being sort of ironic, she says she is fine, she has friends and family, ans she is over it,but she needs lovebadly, is like Nothing broken but my heart, she says she is ok, but her heart is broken... LukeD Posted November 6, 2012 at 11:28 AM Posted November 6, 2012 at 11:28 AM To me, the message of this song is that she already has enough love and doesn't feel the need to search it in chiche ''sources'' such as the moon, the stars, the flowers etc. All the love she needs comes from her family and in the end she changes the whole thing and asks for love after the lyrics say ''A single day without kissing youAnd the leaves start falling...Help, helpI need your love'' which means that she asks for love once a day goes by without being with the ones she loves. You know what occured to me... She sings this song like Jean-Pierre would sing it! She has a habit of doing that, like with Immortality, it's like how the Bee Gees would sing I think the lyrics are beautiful, but the music could have been much more bombastic Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Bell Posted November 6, 2012 at 12:32 PM Posted November 6, 2012 at 12:32 PM After I heard it a couple of times, here's how I see it. It's the need of not just be loved but be loved by a particular person, I think this is what the song is about. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

I do !!! It makes me so uncomfortable that I can barely listen to the song. Her rendition on Sans Attendre TV Special is much better. I can't believe not a single French-speaking person could tell her it's not nice to hear... It's not attractive, it's not emotional either... It ruins the song in my opinion, and in the end I skip it all the time, it's a shame. I thought it would be one of my favorites... Quote BRICEhttp://s17.postimg.org/7igcotu27/DFGHLK.jpg

You know, when I first heard it I thought it's not usual for Celine but I actually find it charming in some way. It's a part of the atmosphere, it makes it sound a little like an old French song for me and it's really fascinating. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
Lian Posted November 8, 2012 at 11:41 AM Posted November 8, 2012 at 11:41 AM Has anyone thought of the possibility it may be for a part about us, the fans? She always says she doesn't need to make music anymore, because she has her family. That she doesn't need the love of the public, and that she only keeps singing because she wants to. And maybe at the end she realises she still needs the love of the fans, even though she has everything she ever dreamed of (=a family) This is just one interpretation and I don't mean to say this is what the song is about, but I think the song can be interpreted in this way too. And when you see the performance in the Sans Attendre special, at the 'au secours, au secours, je besoin de ton amour' she looks right in the camera..
