celine5-5 Posted June 4, 2012 at 01:17 AM Posted June 4, 2012 at 01:17 AM I actually work for Walmart, and a lady I work with went to the sharholder meeting and enthusiastically imparted all the details (including the one about Celine Dion performing). Honestly, I can't help but think that Celine's too good to ever perform for anything that has to do with that horrible corporation. I heard from another co-worker that Celine and Rene are themselves shareholders for Walmart. But even then, she should have paid them to not perform there. Quote

I love reading good comments of someone to others. as to point my own view, I am glad to see celine again after awhile, may it be in walmart or anywhere else. I love the way she looks and her voice is stellar as ever which brings me to question " why does she have to lip those songs?" I agree that if it;s to demanding for her voice, then she should be choosing easier songs to sing. I must also admit that I lost some "amore" for her for lipping for so long. But I love her still. I think this what separates her to Aretha Franklin, in some other way of course. I am aware how "diva" Franklin is, but kudos to her, even though she's almost 70 yrs old, she's still singing live, no matter how different it may be from the way it should be sung. Additionally,. she keeps on singing new songs form her and others' repertoire. the honesty in Aretha's work is what i love about her, but not her Diva attitude. I hope celine will do the same. thevoice Posted June 4, 2012 at 11:45 AM Posted June 4, 2012 at 11:45 AM personally, i thought the performance was terrible - exactly how celine should NOT sound like and exactly what she should never do again. singing IACBTMN and TPOL for the billion time is becoming pathetic by now, especially for us, the fans, who know that for the past decade she is not singing those songs live anymore. even worse was LCMM - common, seriously? that songs again? not to mention her weak voice and the raw high notes... i truely hope that things will get better for the new albums - most importantly vocaly and please no more TPOL and IACBTMN on the promotional tour for the new english album! and if u already sing those classics - please, no more playbacks...there is no real excuse not to sing live on mini-concerts, it's not like she has to save her voice or anything. Claudette Posted June 4, 2012 at 05:29 PM Posted June 4, 2012 at 05:29 PM (edited) I think many people here on this forum (including people that I've become close friends with over the years) think that I turned into a Celine ''hater'' or, as many of you guys put it, ''negative''. So this morning I decided that I want to clear things up a bit. I've been thinking about what I want to say the whole day, and nobody will probably read it now because there is another exiting topic, but here goes. First of all, this post is not intended for anyone in particular, and I do not want to get into an argument about it. Second, I do agree with some people that there are a lot of arguing and fighting going on in topics lately, and I also think that there will always be arguments and disagreements. That will never change as we cannot always agree on everything. I thought about it a lot last night, and I realized that the fights are very often between the older fans and the ''newer'' members here on the forum. Then I started wondering why that is, and it made me think back to when I became a member. I think that I probably reacted the same way as many of the newer fans do when they read something negative. But with time I learned to just ignore it, and move on. I also made a lot of posts about how wonderful Celine is, from her songs to her clothes and her personality. I played all the games in the off topic section, etc. But as time went by, I started posting less and less, and I did not even read all the topics. Today, I mostly read the topics which contain big news. I think that is what happens with a lot of people on the forum, many just skim through the topics everyday to see if anything big happened. So of course the younger posters never see us post anything, but when something big happens, and we post something negative, we all of a sudden look like a hater. So now I want to take the time to tell some people that have some doubts about whether or not I even am a Celine fan, what I love about her, but also what I don't like about her. Maybe that will help them understand why I post certain things, and also make them realize that I am only normal for not adoring absolutely everything about the people I love. Let's start with the things I love about her personality: Celine is one of the kindest people I know (and isn't that one of the most important things). She is always nice to everybody. No matter how tired she is, she will always take the time to sign autographs. I've never in my life heard that she was rude to her fans when they asked her to sign something. The same with the people working for/with her. She is a very loving and caring person. She does a lot for charity. I've read numerous stories about the things she did for charities, including how she went out of her way to help people that work for her. She is a great mother (which is not something that can be said about many celebrity moms). She's a wonderful wife. She has a great sense of humour, and she is funny as hell. She is always willing to learn something new, and even though she is an enormous star herself, she listens to others' advice. She never gives up, just look at her recent struggle to get pregnant. She is a fighter, and a very strong woman (I admire that about her a lot and want to be just like it). She is not afraid to be herself, and does not give a damn about the fact that the world does not think she is cool. I absolutely adore her goofiness. But the thing that I love about her the most is the fact that even though she is a huge star, she has her feet firmly planted on the ground. As for the singer, I love her voice, and I think that it is unique (and of course that is the reason many of us are here on this forum). She has a great stage presence, and I love how she interacts with her band and singers. I love it when she takes the time on stage to respond to a fan, or how she would hold her fans' hands while she sings. I think Celine always delivers quality albums, and most of the time I can listen to the whole album without skipping too many songs (which again is not something I can say about other artists I listen to). Now, let's get to the things I don't like (and it is mostly as a singer): I really do feel sometimes that Celine is afraid to stand up to Rene and her team. We know for a fact that she wants to change things in her shows, but she just doesn't put her foot down and make the change. She is afraid to take risks when it comes to her career, she always takes the safe way out. The lipping thing (which I'm not getting into again) makes me furious. To me it is not the lipping itself as much, but more the principle of the matter, the dishonesty that goes along with it. I hate it when her speeches on stage become too scripted, I want her to be more free with what she says on stage. Finally, she drives me nuts when she turns every question in an interview into a family thing. I would love it if she just talks about her career/music a bit more. Isn't that the main reason we are fans? So as you guys can see, the positives outweighs the negatives by far. I admit that I did say that Celine does not make me that exited anymore, but of course that is because we haven't heard any new music from her in ages, and it is only normal to get bored with the old after a while. I'm also not too fond of her new show, and it does nothing for me anymore, but that is a matter of taste. I'm sure once the new albums come out, I will find plenty to get exited about again. Thomas, feel free to move this post if you think it is not the right place, but I just though I would post it here since this is the last topic where there was a big storm, and many others that have been labelled as a ''hater'' probably feels the same way. I totally agree with you. I think that even the lip synching thing can be traced back to Rene and her team. If Céline had her way, I'm sure she would just sing. Like you said, she doesn't care what the world thinks. She doesn't care if she doesn't hit that note every time. She has nothing left to prove. If she had her way, I bet she would almost never lip and we'd have some really interesting, if imperfect, performances. She's gotten so focused on family life that she is too content to let Rene and her team control her career. Even when she has objections, it's just easier not to fight for that because she has other things she'd rather spend her energy fighting for. Which is admirable. Still, I wish Céline controlled more of her own career. She has good instincts (like including The Reason in the show when Rene and the team didn't like the idea) and I think her career would be in a much better place if Celine was in charge of it. Claudette, you have all my support girl! I don't want to enter the lipping thing because honestly my ears are totally dumb if they have to difference between one prerecorded live playback and one of the other thousands bootlegs we have from her concerts , but apart from that, I feel totally the same with your post, especially the paragraph marked in bold You cannot blame us to be negative or disappointed: we haven't had anything new from Céline in FIVE years, but this doesn't mean we are directly blaming Céline. Like I've said dozens of times, its her record label who should have moved his #ss in Céline's favour and her public: they have loads of unreleased music and concerts they could have put out for us in this long absence of 5 years to ease our thirst for new material. But they didn't move a finguer. They didn't say a word in months, years. Not a single comment. Neither it seemed René to do something. So yes, many fans were (are) disappointed. But of course, the river can return to a safe level now that we're finally seeing two new albums released. Yes, that's a very good reason to be excited and content again. But watching Céline sing again those songs in Walmart? Sorry, no, to me that's not exciting at all Edited June 4, 2012 at 07:11 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Dionesque Posted June 5, 2012 at 12:15 AM Posted June 5, 2012 at 12:15 AM OMG, Claudette, that's indeed wonderfully put and the astonishing thing is that your post could also have came from me, apart from the fact that I couldn't put it all that nicely, hehe! So yeah, I totally agree with you about things we love Céline for and about the things that are kinda disappointing and also about the 5 years parctical abesence in the musical world factor, in terms of new material, etc. etc. Oh, and funny thing is that it's the same behaviour on the forum for me, lol! I've been very active here several years ago, in all kinds of topics and sections and nowadays I'm mainly browsing the news topics and look for actual facts and news and am less interested in discussing every small thing or in producing discussions on subjects that don't interest me much or that interest me but than I think it pointless to discuss it. I would never call myself and anyone else on this forum a hater - that's a nonsense! But we are of very different age, of very different orgin, of very different lenght of being a fan and last but not least, we all have our points f view and opinions and thanks God they are often very different from each other, otherwise world would be one hell of a boring place, hehe! And yeah, I agree very much with the person who said that it would be great if Céline would have more say concerning her professional moves and her career and if she would trust more her instincts and feelings or, seeing it from an another angle, if she were allowed to let her feelings and intuition take over and lead her professional life. She absolutely still has the greatest voice of all and can sing simply everything! I'm sure the playback thing is not solely her idea but she agrees to do it. We have had and still have enough prooves that she can sing everything she wants and the way she wants! Just an example: her spontanous a capella performance of "MHWGO" at the star unveiling in Kraków etc. etc. There are many other artists I like or even love and for example in terms of live performances I wish Céline were like Tori Amos. But apart from all that and no matter how many other artists I admire, Céline remains my ultimate number one and now I'm starting to get into her again, getting excited about the new projects, for the new recordings! browseceline Posted June 5, 2012 at 09:44 AM Posted June 5, 2012 at 09:44 AM There actually is no arguing, no personal conviction to have : the first part was lip synch. The tapes are the sames as in LV. Plus there was no interaction with the crowd, her thank yous were off the mic. There's a big difference with LCMM in the end. in contrary what I thought before, when expecting both files , the bootleg one and the walmart one, there are subtle differences in terms of power and diction. Just listen to each word and phrase of both takes and you will hear the differences. It is not all black and white. I also think you have to remember that Celine does this already for a long time, I think she has found a way to sing these songs perfect every time again. On top of each other both files sound identical, but when listening closely you will hear subtle differences. Usually in the last word of a phrase. There are a lot of performances where it is not all live and then you can hear that, but I have my doubts with this one. That said, I can completely agree with most of the posts in here, esspecially Claudette's.It has been a long time ago since we heard something. Finally things are coming, as we have seen on the latest interview. So I can't wait to hear the rest of the album:-) As for Vegas, the show is classy , her dresses are, but there is something lacking, and that is Celine herself. It is a show with a theme, with some covers, like the Bond theme that work good with the Orchestra, but it would have been nicer if they had chosen more Celine songs. But okay, it is their decision. Who knows what will change in this show. And I wonder how many years the show will endure. To me, and that is just my opinion, those are wasted years. But if she feels happy doing this, that's her choice. I do hope she has a lot in store for us in the upcoming years:-) Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Xpresso Posted June 5, 2012 at 12:46 PM Posted June 5, 2012 at 12:46 PM Now Claudette, your last post is the "old" & nicer Claudette... as opposed to some of your recent posts where you were very critical (and sometimes mean towards Céline). I have no problem with people who are not always happy with what/how Celine does things. But there is a way to say things. And your last post is written in a very objective & constructive way. And I like that much better! Quote
the power of celine Posted June 5, 2012 at 01:13 PM Posted June 5, 2012 at 01:13 PM I think many people here on this forum (including people that I've become close friends with over the years) think that I turned into a Celine ''hater'' or, as many of you guys put it, ''negative''. Amen, Claudette Quote http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/2493/wmagsigblackwhite.png

Thomas, feel free to move this post if you think it is not the right place, but I just though I would post it here since this is the last topic where there was a big storm, and many others that have been labelled as a ''hater'' probably feels the same way. Hi Claudette!! I totally understand what you're saying, and I can relate to it very well too. I can also understand why fans can get a little frustrated etc. when they haven't heard a lot from Celine, whether it be an interview or especially a new album. I would suppose that it's pretty normal for most people to feel that way. I guess that I am more tolerant, and a lot of people might wonder why. That's why I've stated many times that I'm willing to accept Celine for what she does and gives us. I've been told by many people that they don't know where I get all the patience that I have. I guess it comes from being a mother, a wife and a teacher. I've had to develop that quality or else I would have gone crazy. There are days tho' when I think that I'm about to "blow up". Trust me, I am only human. I just get upset with myself when I jump to conclusions and then later find out what the real truth is, and then I feel guilty for not being more tolerant. I agree with you about how kind Celine is. She is always nice to everyone, and she takes time for her fans. I guess she tries to remain very tolerant of others as well. It must be very hard for her when she has so many people expecting things from her. I guess that's why she does find time to be private, 'cause when she's out of the limelight, then she doesn't have as many people making demands of her. Everyone needs "down time" in order to maintain their sanity. I totally agree with everything that you stated about how good and sweet Celine is regarding motherhood, her personality her goofiness and the fact that she seems to have her feet firmly planted on the ground!! You hit that portrait of her "dead on" in my opinion!!! Maybe Celine is sometimes afraid to stand up to her team. I don't really know. Maybe she has in the past, and then it's come back to haunt her. So therefore, she decided to let them take charge so that she doesn't make too many mistakes. Of course, she did put her foot down when it came to having "The Reason" in the current Vegas show. I've read that the more decisons a person makes the more worn down they become. Plus, I've read that it's better to ask for something earlier in the day than later in the day when everyone becomes more tired. Their brains are tired from making too many decisions. So, maybe Celine approached her team about "The Reason" earlier in the day and that's how she was able to "put her foot down". After all, she said in the documentary that she knew that the guys didn't expect to see her up so early in the day. LOL Maybe she needs to have someone point out that she might get her way more if she'd do it early in the morning!!! I love Celine's voice as well, and I can listen to her albums without skipping many songs as well. I bet that the majority of her fans feel the same way about that! The lipping thing........well, I don't think that I probably understand all the reasons behind it. I myself think that Celine is capable of singing magnificently all the time. Of course, that's just me thinking. I haven't walked in her shoes, so I don't really knows what happens when she misuses her voice or how quickly that can happen. Maybe her team feels that they don't want her to take chances with her voice at times. Possibly when she's recording and about to start her new shows. Her team doesn't want to take chances with the consequences of her singing live all the time and then she can't hit a high note due to overusing her voice, and then the repercussions of it would be the media having a "hey day" with that news item. So, "they" decide that she shouldn't sing live 100% of the time. Of course, many die-hard fans pick up on things, but the general public doesn't realize anything. So, her team weighs the cons versus the pros and that might be how they make their decision. I know for a fact, that as I've gotten older my vocal chords get strained more quickly than they used to. Of course, I don't have Celine's voice doctor's phone number within my fingertips. Too bad too, 'cause I think that I could use some of his/her advice many days!!! I love hearing about everything relating to Celine, and not just about her music career etc. I guess that it's because I am a mother and therefore I enjoy that aspect of her life as well. I can just relate to it, but I can understand why some might get bored with that topic. Of course, that can change as everyone enters into new directions and relationships in life. I am probably excited about everything (even now when some haven't been in the recent past), 'cause for many years I wasn't able to really enjoy Celine 100%. I never did get the joy of going to see her first Vegas run of shows. So, I now have time to enjoy and do what I want to do. So, getting to see Celine etc. is exciting for me since I can devote so much more of my time to her and whatever "few crumbs" we get!! I get to savor them, but for many years there wasn't much time for me to enjoy all there was to enjoy from Celine. I also know how time consuming raising a family and working can be. So, that's probably also why I try to "cut her some slack". Celine has so many more demands on her than I can imagine. My life has been full of them, but I'm not the celebrity that she is. I can't even begin to imagine all of the phone calls and questions that go her way (and Rene's) each and every day. She has to know when to draw the line. I would presume that she's learned how to cope with all of that well in the past, but now she has two little boys and that has just taken away a lot more of her time. There are so many questions that we could ask Celine. Too bad we don't get to find out all the answers to the many questions that we have! It sure would be awesome if we (the fans) could have "live chats" with Celine on the forum, or her own official website from time to time. Yeah, dream on, right? I enjoy the current Vegas show, because I'm just now at a point in my life where I can go see Celine. So, I guess that itself keeps my "excitement level" up! I admit that there are several songs that I wish would go away, and that Celine would only sing her songs. Now, that would be an awesome concert. There are so many of her own songs that I would love for Celine to perform live. The show would have to be twice as long as it is if I had my way. The problem is that not everyone that goes to see her is as huge of a fan as we are. They might like her, but they don't buy all of her CD's etc. They want to go see her while they're in Vegas 'cause they want to see her live. So, I can only presume that Rene and her team try to keep, what they feel the majority is, happy. They know that the die-hard fans go see Celine, but there are a lot of people that go to Vegas with other priorities and seeing Celine is not their first choice. They go to gamble, but then when they take a break they like to catch a few shows and they of course choose to see Celine as one of them. I don't know if that's true or not. It's just a presumption. I may be wrong. You are right tho', the positives do outweigh the negatives!!! Nice post Claudette!!! Thanks!!! Quote
riobeard11 Posted June 5, 2012 at 04:07 PM Posted June 5, 2012 at 04:07 PM That was a nice post to read I do think that what you said about a lot of people aren't necessarily in Vegas for Celine like we are...and I agree that they would make a setlist that caters to that kind of crowd. Quote
fred Posted June 5, 2012 at 04:22 PM Posted June 5, 2012 at 04:22 PM Even though how much I truly like that she does anything besides the Vegas gig, this did nothing for me. Amazed at how she consequently stick with her old material. And of how she inists on lipping them and how much hidden recentment she seems to have towards her post 2003 "reportoir". Would it really hurt that much doing something that the majority of the people isn't fed up with? Jumped to LCMM. It was a performance. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
ferjaacu Posted June 5, 2012 at 11:58 PM Posted June 5, 2012 at 11:58 PM Nicely said both Claudette and Donna I agree with almost everything both of you have said, cause sometimes I myself wonder what would happen if she do this instead of that and so And of course, I have my very own likes and dislikes regarding her/their decisions, songs, career, etc. But, what I've always said is that even tho' we not always agree with them, we are not the only ones following her and not everything has to turn around us, so we need to accept those facts. We all have our own lives, and make choices. Sometimes for good, sometimes we're wrong, but we are the ones who have to make those decisions. But anyway, I was about to post a big and long post like yours, but I'm lazy... Love to both of you, everyone is a great contribution to the forum, so that's why we have to respect each other, even more when having disagreement Quote http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/5786913948_369265dbeb_m.jpg FERLO

I think when the albums are finally there she will talk about the music more and why this song is like that etc. Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

London22 Posted June 8, 2012 at 04:53 AM Posted June 8, 2012 at 04:53 AM YIKES! Am I the only one that thinks LCMM sounded like a bit of a struggle for her? Maybe it was too early in the morning or something...but you could clearly hear a few cracky/throaty moments. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see her back after such a long break from live shows, but some of this sounded concerning. I think this is the only time I've ever heard her skip out on a few of her usual improvisational high notes. I mean...it was just one live song...I'm going with the too early in the morning theory! Don't hate...love her either way! Quote
