That's Just The Woman In Me:

Although the song appears on the Taking Chances album, Celine has admitted that she had wanted to record it for years but never got around to doing so.

I love the All By Myself story. Whitney Houston? Hearing that she could do something Celine can't? Yeah right. No such animal...rest in peace though Whitney...but still. that would SO put a fire in me...You go, Celine!!!!!

I always found it so sweet that they all knew she could do it and Rene did that for her. David, too. They have such a great relationship!

Magic Johnson was the inspiration behind this Luc Plamondon's song: this song is about AIDS.

Several singers refused to sing this song because of the subject. Fabienne Thibeault, Martine St-Clair and Ginette Reno refused to sing a so touchy subject. So Luc put this song in the drawers for several years... When Celine and him work on the album (Dion chante Plamondon) he proposed this song, but Celine wanted an up-tempo song instead. Along with rené, Luc ask her to "try" the song. She did it, the few person around her was speechless and in tears: the rest is history. This song become a instant classic. Many french singers said that this song is one of the most beautiful french song ever written.

On Dion Chante Plamondon, Celine was supposed to cover "J'ai douze ans" by Diane Dufresne, but Marie-Denise Pelletier put that song on her album, just before the Dion Chante Plamondon recording: that's why they put "J'ai besoin d'un chum" on the album instead. My big sister work in showbusiness and I had the honor to talk to Luc 2-3 times during that time.

Wouldnt it be great to see a video of Celine that time she recorded "All by Myself" and was in a really bad mood!! :giggle:

I've just read my LTAL booklet, and it says it was recorded in 1993! wow!

"To Love You More" became one of Celine Dion biggest hits in Indonesia, it peaked at #1 on the Indonesian Radio Charts for 3 weeks. When David Foster held a concert tour in Indonesia, he said that the song is inspired by the Indonesian traditional music called "keroncong".

In Indonesia "To Love You More" was released in 1996 on the album Falling into You (Asian Edition).

The song is very popular in Asian regions. Coco Lee, Charice, K and Sarah Geronimo covered the song.

Japanese singer Yonemitsu Miho covered the song in Japanese Language as well.

Joy Tobing (the first Indonesian Idol) performed the song during Indonesian Idol.

Also, has anyone ever heard that the song Colour Of My Love was wanted to be recorded by Streisand, Houston, and others? I think I remember seeing a video where Rene stated this and stated that David chose to give it to Celine. But then again...I could have dreamed this.

Did anyone else see where Franklin says to Celine at the end of the vocal battle, "you've showed us now yoal, hmm mm", i think she had enough LOL I just loved how Celine stuck up for all the divas that night, Shania's face is like "yeah, im loving it, you go girl" even looks like she mimes "ouch!" at one point as its all going on lol

There's a video of Carole King on YouTube and she explains what happened with that "vocal battle". She says that Celine's high note wasn't planned at all ( actually, all the rendition sounds a cacophony. I'm wondering if they had rehearsed it before). Just like that Whitney Houston's story behind ABM, it seems that Celine was a bit mad at Aretha because she went on singing on Celine's part. According to Carole, it was Celine's "answer" to Aretha. She oversang 5 women !

My little contribution to this topic :

Nature Boy: Céline received a phone call from Eddy Marnay asking if she knew that song. She said "yes, of course" and gave her the idea to cover it for her next english album. As "The prayer" (solo version no 1), it was recorded in 1 take.

The story I'd like to know is the one behind "Nadie lo entiende".

Who had that idea? And especially, how was recorded the song? Was there a demo Celine followed? Was there any intructions to do this and that? Or they just told her "ok do what you want"? I'm sure there are somewhere other (amazing) vocals that didn't make the final version.

Oh I didn't know Eddy suggested NB to Céline :wub2: that makes it more special!

About Nadie lo entiende, I remember that Humberto Gatica was producing the song for Café Quijano,

but when it was 'finished' they thought that the song lacked something.... He suggested that a female back ground vocals might be a good idea.

Because he was Céline's audio engineer for so long, he gave her a call if she wanted to do the backings for this song!

After a AND performance, Céline went into the studio and improvised (with some direction I'm sure) the add lips! :-D

I just watched this recently. She said that it was too "edgy" for her at the time that they sent it to her so she had to wait. She was glad that no one had recorded it yet so she did it for TC!

Nice topic, but I have always wanted to know why does The Power Of Love wasn't included in AND...LILV?????? Does anybody know???? I just think they wanted to release the first dvd edition of the show with a "different" tracklist from the live album to increase people's interest

Same here!! While it's nice hearing it at the concert, we've heard it in bootlegs a bajillion times.

It's not that she doesn't like the song, it's just that she didn't want to recorded it when the producer/songwriter (I don't remember who he was) introduced the song to her, because she thought it was a bad song just because that man didn't sing well...

She only sang it once, for the movie version and demo, and since then she hasn't stopped performing it because it is an audience favorite ... and a classic...

He said the inspiration behind it was his own personal trouble following the end of a relationship and his finding peace with drugs. The MAN refers to his drug dealer. This song can have so many interpretations, with the MAN being God for most people.

Wow, I never saw the song like that before. The story reminds me a lot of "Angel" from Sarah McLachlan, which was also based on similar situations.
