Javito Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:35 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:35 PM (edited) ''Inspired'' can mean a lot of different things. Maybe they mean that the album will also include the orchestra and just have a very classical feel to it. I'm trying to be optimistic... Yeah!! Maybe its "inspiring" in the way that after singing so many sleepy slow songs and boring covers one after the other she ends the show with the urgently need of singing uptempo or AC/DC songs! I would love that inspiration then Maybe that's the secret to get a brand new album with brand new songs and full of life in it, ah ah?? Jeff Abbott Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:38 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:38 PM Celine's English career is becoming more and more like a joke to me. It's unbelievable that she doesn't have time (or doesn't wanna) to record some new stuff. I know there are literally hundreds of brilliant and ORIGINAL songs out there from the best writers and composers dying to collaborate with Celine. Rene is so wrong if he thinks that the album is going to sell well. If they don't change their plans, the album full of random cover songs will be a MAJOR FLOP. I doubt they will realize their mistake. Four years of waitng for one big NOTHING. Great!!! Quote
Claudette Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:54 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 07:54 PM (edited) I think the main problem is that Rene is so out of the loop it is not even funny. Yes, Rene was a great manager, and if it wasn't for him there never would have been a Celine. The key word is was though. Celine urgently needs new and fresh blood in her camp. If Rene does not want to step down then, they at least should consider asking somebody younger to help them and give them some insight on the industry. And I'm not saying she should turn into Lady Gagga, all I'm saying is they need some direction. It really breaks my heart that her talents are going to waste. She deserves a younger adience too because she is sooooo talented, and what a great role model she would be for younger kids. Shaun Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:02 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:02 PM Looking at it in the cold light of day if Rene's job is to make Celine as much money as possible you have to say that he had and is doing a marvellous job. If however his job as her music manager is to maintain her popularity and relevance as a pop singer (which is what she is) then as you say Claudette he's sadly been out of the loop for quite a while now. RomualdlovesCeline Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:10 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:10 PM (edited) Suppose the album is a recorded version of the setlist of the live show; will she re-record TPOL, IACBTMN,TR,LCMM,WDMHBN,BYLM,MHWGO, BATB, RDMH. I'm starting seriously to doubt we'll have a recorded studio CD of the live show; because Celine won't replug all the old versions of the already mentionned songs on the new CD; if so, it'll the biggest scam Team Celine would have done in decades ;so sadly, IMO, my guess it'll be a live CD. If we get a studio version of the live show it will contain only 12 covers with a French song included, if we remove that we'll get 11 songs only which is quite boring. zuv Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:47 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 08:47 PM (edited) You guys make it sounds like only René manage Celine's career. I'm sure he works with a ton people, including Sony etc. Not counting the ton of feedback he must receive from fans, friends and family. Plus Celine must say no to alot of offers as well. René makes the final decision thats all... Suppose the album is a recorded version of the setlist of the live show; will she re-record TPOL, IACBTMN,TR,LCMM,WDMHBN,BYLM,MHWGO, BATB, RDMH. I counted 12 without NMQP + 3 brand new songs + maybe Diamonds Are Forever?? Total of 16..... which is 2 more than the average of the numbers of songs in English Albums The only time she went over 15 songs was with TAST, ANDHC, TC with 16 songs each Edited September 6, 2011 at 08:59 PM by zuv Quote
celinesounds Posted September 6, 2011 at 09:35 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 09:35 PM I don't think MJ's songs works well as studio version to Celine They should select only 2 or 3 songs from the show If they want covers they have to look forward for other songs Open Arms – has been already covered by Mariah and was a hit single in UK Goldfinger – Is a Shirley signature and shouldn’t be touch in studio We need new songs, and I don’t mind if will be a brand new album with only 10 songs. Maybe 4 live tracks from the show as a bonus. Quote #FREEJAVITO
Alex_Incognito Posted September 6, 2011 at 10:07 PM Posted September 6, 2011 at 10:07 PM (edited) This will be a CONCEPT album of the show. She wouldn't redo her old hits, that doesn't make any sense. She would record the new songs for her on the show and then some other song that she can perhaps add to the show and subtract from others. Perhaps we will get a revamped version of an old classic, but I doubt it. This is like when Barbra Streisand would create albums from her TV specials: it was themed after the show. There were songs from the show and song that weren't. Edited September 6, 2011 at 10:09 PM by Alex_Incognito Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Perhaps at huge intervals, but she wont abandon her god given talent completely. Look at Barbra, still releasing albums. She rarely sings live now, but she still records. I believe Celine may do the same eventually, but with greater intervals between albums than Barbra. Quote

That's right, but you can't deny that they seem more worried about doing shows and touring than about recording albums. That only means to me that René is more concerned about the money than about the legacy she's actually leaving of Céline. Since we agree on the fact that we are fans of the singer with the best voice in the world -and René knows that-, I would be more concerned in recording as many studio albums as possible for the posterity than about doing some kind of competition to be the manager who has got the agreement for the longuest residency ever done by a singer performing in a same place, which is of course, the 723 shows of A New Day + the 250 shows they will have of "Celine"... What's the prize of this? Are they going to release the 723 shows of A New Day to compensate the lack of new material in 8 years, between 2003 and 2011?. It's not that they have not released anything during all these 8 years, but it all looks to have been done more for a commitment with the industry and fans than about the interest in leaving some great albums to be remembered for the rest of the days I only say that an album recording is forever, a "live" performance lasts only that precise moment, unless its taped and released for people to enjoy it wherever they are (and we're not plenty of Céline Dion concerts in DVD lately... I mean, we're still waiting for a concert in 1994 to be released someday, the Memphis VHS in DVD, the A New Day with "blonde" hair DVD... ) Final! anewdayhascome Posted September 7, 2011 at 08:33 AM Posted September 7, 2011 at 08:33 AM I truly hate Madonna and don't know much about her but considering she is much older than Celine and has hits after hits with a few totally new albums in last few years it's clear that if you have right management and promotion you can still have big success. Celine has time for recording all timeless classics when she is 60 for example, but sorry she isn't even 45 years old! What's more, I've just seen in TV a commercial of George Michael's concert in Poland and its theme is orchestra too, Sting has done it recently as well, so again Celine will be doing what others do without any originality. manu23 Posted September 7, 2011 at 01:07 PM Posted September 7, 2011 at 01:07 PM There is nothing wrong with saying this is a mistake. I am the first Celine supporter, I am her fan and I will always be, but I can’t agree with how she is managing her career lately. I understand, like everybody else here, that we can’t demand from her to be working as she was doing from 1993 to 2000, that moment passed, now is turn for Rihanna, Katy, Adele, etc. to do it. Of course Celine is going to record fewer albums from now on, but if you have to do an album every five years, do a good one and promote it right. And I am not saying it has to be album full of uptempo or electropop songs because it is true they won’t fit in the currents show, but what is the problem of recording brand new songs, even if they are ballads or jazz or classy o whatever. It takes the same from her to record a new song or a cover, so it is not a matter of time, or maybe she is not getting any good song from songwriters… I don’t get this, I always thought delays with the English album were because they we were picking the songs (new songs). It is such a waste recording covers with her voice in such a good form Quote
RomualdlovesCeline Posted September 7, 2011 at 01:52 PM Posted September 7, 2011 at 01:52 PM Look at Barbra, still releasing albums. She rarely sings live now, but she still records. I believe Celine may do the same eventually, but with greater intervals between albums than Barbra. The difference between Barbra and Celine is like the moon and the earth; Barbra is driven and always been driven, Celine faked the fact that she was driven in the 90s just to sell records but came out as a let down performer since 2002. Barbra preserved her voice because she knew she had something special to work for years and look at her now her voice is intact and as good as before; Celine on the other hand didn't give a damn about her voice, performed 700 shows a year and ruined her voice; till now you could see that her voice isn't as good as before because once you over use your voice you are not able to go backwards to what once it was. Barbra has the passion to share music with her fans, and basically know what her fans want to hear from her; Celine didn't have a clue about what everybody wanted to hear from her and ventured into a let-down album [Taking Chances]. So yeah, many differences and this is so sad for Celine's case. Quote
Davey84 Posted September 7, 2011 at 02:20 PM Posted September 7, 2011 at 02:20 PM (edited) Barbra also 'preserved' her voice cos she's afraid to perform and doesn't do it much. Céline loves to perform and was never faking anything in her career! I am very sorry if you think that way, but it makes me wonder what you're doing here! REALLY! This forum is more full of haters instead of fans nowadays!! If you don't like Céline, then please just stay away! The negativity I can handle has a limit! Alex_Incognito Posted September 7, 2011 at 03:15 PM Posted September 7, 2011 at 03:15 PM Barbra did NOT preserve her voice. Barbra is living proof that if you don't take care of your talent you'll lose it.She's had to do work to make her voice as good as it is at 69. She definitely lost some of her range and that is because she doesn't do any vocal exercises. Her last album, WHAT MATTERS MOST, shows a Barbra who has worked on her voice. She has range back that she didn't have from 2006-2009. She shows she has some range back, unlike LOVE IS THE ANSWER. She didn't have to worry about her voice because she seldom performed live. Fast forward to modern times: Barbra has just discovered that she likes to sing and that's where the money is for her foundations. She gets hoarse because she's not used to performing and she doesn't do vocal exercises. She sees this, the fans see it. Often her first act is a warm up and the 2nd act is pure gold. Celine, on the other hand, IS trained with her voice and exercises it. She'll keep her range much longer than Barbra will, just because she had the discipline. Celine IS a live artist---(despite her lipping) I've been a Barbra fan since I was 2. That's my stance lol Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
