duri Posted September 5, 2011 at 12:55 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 12:55 PM So once again the same info, what we heard many times. Of course new english album with all new songs would be the best choice (maybe in 2013, who knows ...) but if they will realized new french album in short time after english one then it´s more logical that english album will contain only a few new songs. But we still don´t have answer if new english album will be this year (probably 21.11.2011) as one rumor said, and french in early 2012 or both next year ... mirage Posted September 5, 2011 at 12:56 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 12:56 PM What I wonder is, will it be a live album, or studiorecorded tracks?! ;-) And those 3 new songs, very new, or old songs from the vault ;-) Anyway I don't care for the English album, I'm happy with whatever she does. Right now she doesnt have the time to promote it very well, so if it's an live album it's fine by me!! But since we now know what kind of album it will be: WHEN will it be released?!I still think that the November date we heard somewhere could be very true :-) Quote

"Overjoyed" (Virtual duet with Stevie Wonder) "At Seventeen" "Ne me quitte pas" "Ben" "Man In The Mirror" plus three songs I don't see the MJ, NMQP and the James Bond songs working on a cd... I hope/think they'll change their mind... or it will be 4 songs less (-1 MJ, -2 JB + -NMQP) which makes a very short cd! Claudette Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:24 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:24 PM I just hope with all my heart that if it is a live CD they do not include TPOL, BYLM, IACBTMN, etc. again. For some reason Rene thinks those are the songs her fans wants to hear foreeeeeeeeeeever and ever. That scares me a bit. Quote http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg
joaofilho Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:27 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:27 PM I think it will be a live ablum, it's better than writing a whole album in the studio with all the songs she sings in the show. Quote
zuv Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:29 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:29 PM Well, we already have plenty of live albums. And the most recent one was live.... So i really hope she will record those songs in studio; with as many retakes as she wants, so we can get top quality voice and music. If its like that, then i don't think that would be a bad idea. Plus 3 brand new songs?... Im in. Quote
enno2007 Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:32 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:32 PM There is a short extract of the interview on the Salut Bonjour website: Extract Interview They will have (almost?) the whole interview tomorrow (and apparently they will talk about the possibility of another world tour, although I assume this will be very vague). Regarding the album, Rene just confirms that the French one was supposed to be released first, but that Luc Plamondon got involved and that they postponed the project until he has done more work. And Rene says that he will meert Luc the same day to listen to some songs (given that the interview was recorded last week this is done now). Quote

Timster Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:35 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:35 PM René confirmed that Celine is working on both the English and the French album. He confirmed, as we previously announced, that the English album will contain the songs from the show + 3 brand new songs. Plamondon is still working on his songs for the French album. I can't think of anything worse. An album full of covers from the show? We already have studio versions of Goldfinger, Ben & Man In The Mirror - is she going to re-record these for a CD? Surely if they don't have enough new English material, they should just release a live album + the 3 new songs. If they release studio versions of songs from the show, Celine is trying to OWN them. Ok, it worked for RDMH, FIY, IACBTMN etc. But to have a whole CD dedicated to other people's songs is ridiculous. Quote
Shaun Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:42 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:42 PM How utterly depressing. A 4-5 year wait for an album and this is what they are planning. Jeeez the songs that writers are sending Celine must be really bad. Kyle_Jared Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:45 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:45 PM I can honestly say I'm thrilled with the idea of doing an album with songs from the show and then three new songs! she's been singing in English now for almost 22 years!!! (1990 Unison came out). And we've gotten all new studio albums from her. Granted yes, there's been plenty of covers over the years....but she is not targetting a young crowd now. She had her huge Top 40 radio days. Celine's career is aging so gracefully (just like her). She is so classy now and I think the type of album they will make will be a classy, elegant recording that will attract MANY of her older fans. Look at Michael Buble. He is 10+ years younger than she is and ALL of his studio albums are majority of old songs (covers) with maybe 3 or 4 new songs. That's what he's built his career on and he's been very successful. For Celine to release Taking Chances part II right now just would not fit. THis is the right move for her. I'm thrilled. Quote

Although I would have prefered "Taking Chances II", I kind of see your point and tend to agree. She probably won't be interested in doing a huge promo tour, and as you said, radio is not playing her music anyway, so why not having such a classy album. I just hope they'll have a classy production that sounds great and is coherent... And I hope that once her Vegas show is over, she'll have her "Taking Chances II" to go on the road again (perhaps one last time???) Quote
Davey84 Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:05 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:05 PM She can do a 'classy' album, but everyone is doing that nowadays! what's wrong with new material!? Recording all the Celine show songs would be overkill IMO and you can't tell me they aint getting amazing songs offered! The thing that makes me sad and what I fear, is the fact that the French album prob is going to be brilliant, with loads of original new songs, but it won't be promoted nor sang live at all, due to Vegas! :dots: Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

If like this, I really feel disappointed with celine's team.Fans waiting for the new album about 4 years ago...Now it's just a live album plus some new songs.Come on, fans need the new music of celine. I think they want a new album rather than a live album...And then, her always repeated the old song like TPOL, BYLM, IACBTMN,ABM in previous live album. Most of us tired with the old song already.... A rather subdued English album that was 'bubbling under' while she was in Vegas, and a great French album with an original concept. I liked 1F4T and I really hope they put most of their efforts in the new French album. And I guess the new English one will just be a nice thing, nothing exciting, but a decent piece of music with some great songs on it. It might not be the 'best case scenario', but if they do it well, I think it can be pretty good... Edited September 5, 2011 at 02:16 PM by enno2007 Quote
Shaun Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:20 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:20 PM The difference between now and then though surely Enno is that back then Celine was commited to Vegas "full time." Now it can be described as "part time" at best. Surely the best songwriters out there will just stop sending their songs to Celine sooner or later? By the looks of things they don't get considered for albums anyway. Claudette Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:22 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:22 PM (edited) What does 'classy' have to do with original songs? She can still be classy and record an album with original songs. If we wanted to hear MITM or ''Ben'', we would have bought Michael's albums. The same for the other random covers. It is redonkulous. enno2007 Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:29 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 02:29 PM Shaun, I see what you mean. But I think it doesn't make a big difference: The extra time they have due to her 'part-time' engagement will probably be used for private purposes (to put it this way ) - which I can understand... Claudette, sure there is no contradiction and I would love to have a great album of orginal songs like My Love. What I meant with "classy" is that if they go this way with the songs from the show and 3 new ones, they should do it in style, with good arrangements that serve the songs, with a coherent track list, nice art work... RomualdlovesCeline Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:27 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:27 PM The big question is whether Celine is going to acknowledge the newly recorded songs; in the last Las Vegas live album "You and I" and "Ain't gonna look the other way" were never performed live in her shows; so what's the point of recording new songs if we're never going to hear them? Celine Fan 77 Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:46 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:46 PM I hope that the interviewer asked René if it's gonna be a live recording or a studio album. I don't really expect much about the 3 new songs since they'll probably be as promoted as You and I, Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way, Map To My Heart or The Reason I Go On, I just hope I like them, which is going to happen for sure I think this is the best decision they could make, I mean, she wouldn't have time to promote a brand new English album around the world, I though about this several times during the past few months and I think making an album like this is a great idea, like more promotion for the show. I think this upcoming English release is gonna arrive before the French project and that's great, 'cause I've got the feeling that the francophone album is going to be the main album from this new couple of projects, so the English recording will make the wait shorter. Alex_Incognito Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:47 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:47 PM (edited) My Dieu! They've not even began recording of the French album! PUTAIN!!!! Ugh, what HAVE they been doing?(and if anyone says they;ve been busy being parents I will vomit). Well, I do look forward to hearing studio versions of the Vegas tracks, but I fear it'll be poorly promoted. It sounds like this Plamondon album will be a gem in Celine's career, but I fear that the majority of you are right: it'll be ill-promoted and slip through the cracks (where weeds will grow up). SO THIS MEANS that AT THE PRESENT MOMENT they are PICKING the songs that Luc has written for Celine. NOTHING has been recorded (except perhaps demos by Luc). Javito Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:49 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:49 PM I won't repeat myself about what I think about the english album. 4 years waiting for new material all to end with an album with covers from her classic Vegas show. anewdayhascome Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:50 PM Posted September 5, 2011 at 04:50 PM (edited) WTF?! sorry but due to postponment I thought they would release a NEW english album! It can't be named a new album if it's going to have only 3 songs! Sorry but I'm very frustrated! If it's a live album with 3 songs OK, just like with AND but if they really do release album only with studio versions it will be a killer for Celine's career. Sorry but 5 years (it will be between 2007 and 2012) waiting is to result in such a thing?! Huge disappoinment. The worst thing is that it's new interview and Rene didn't correct the interviewer that it won't have 'Celine''s songs (as it was rumoured last year) so it's likely to include them! They could have recorded them back in March when they were preparing the show, release it and done, ok! but now? what for?I'v been such a huge fan and always felt such a tight bond but now it's disappointment after disappoinment. Ok, we'll have the French album, surely better (French albums are always better with the quality and work done even if the English album has new songs only but now it will be even better since it will have new material wheareas the english one not). Well, I believe it will not write as often as I used to. I'm disappointed because I thought they cared about us but they don't. I'd rather they waited 2 years more to release entirely new album but this is just recycling bleh          Edited September 5, 2011 at 04:53 PM by anewdayhascome Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019
