Twins names are Eddy and Nelson Angelil

Eddy doesn't surprise me, but I was definitely thinking it would be a middle name. Now Nelson is the shocker bc I guess I didn't realize just how much he inspired them? I mean I get that it was a big deal in South Africa and they have spoken with him quite often on the phone etc, but it just seems out of left field when her father's name wasn't used.....you know? It's not that I hate the names, I just was a bit surprised by Nelson and that they used Eddy as a first name and there was no Adhémar to be found ha :/

 

But I think they will be adorable and fill the shoes of their names quite well- how could they not with René and Céline raising them? and after all was said about the 3rd baby last night, I don't care if they really were Praha and Praho- as long as she has two healthy babies- she could have lost them all or not remained pregnant at all! But they are actually HERE! Whew. So yay for Eddy and Nelson!

Honestly, i was not expecting those names. haha. i think i kind of had high expectations of perfect, french, boy names. haha. but i like eddy and nelson. very cute and i also like the reason they named them that. and i also like that they're not "cliche" names. so we have rene-charles, eddy, and a nelson angelil.

I have to tell you guys that last night that I was like with the Nelson thing. Me living in SA and everything, it was just very weird for me, but any way the more I think about it and if you consider what the name Nelson actually means, I think it is a very good choice. But I'm sure that Celine and Rene didn't just choose the name, there probably went a lot of consideration into it. And I'm pretty sure that Mandela would be very touched by it. He loves Celine.

 

As for the Adhémar thing, I think the thing was, which twin do they give that name to? That is a bit of a difficult situation.

Nelson is the name of the baby that came out first, Eddy is the second, Rene said.

 

I think they're great names because they both mean a lot to Celine and Rene. What better inspiration than these two men they were named after?! It's brilliant! One's children names should always be meaningful and not taken out of a names book. I'm proud of Celine and Rene, it took them a while, but they got it right!

Beautiful names!! I told hubbie what Celine's twins names were last night and he said "Good for them and very meaningful for them as well. Unlike other celebrities who give their children crazy names!!"

Well, I've had a day for these names to sink in, and they are slowly growing on me... but I still have moments of...

 

I think it's amazing how she surprised all of us... no one saw those names coming. I thought for sure a middle name would be Adhemar like so many others! But thinking about it, maybe someone in the family is already named after him?

 

I'm assuming Céline won and got her choices, but I wonder if René will ever reveal what name(s) he wanted?

I think "Nelson" is actually pretty cool considering the meaning behind it. But I'm afraid that the young generation

will associate the name with "The Simpsons" and not with "Mandela" (great personality!!)

 

But I don't like "Eddy"!! That's not a real name for me.

Ehh I'm not exactly thrilled over these names but if there's some personal meaning behind it for them then I guess it's okay. I was expecting something more dynamic. Eddy Marnay obviously meant everything to Celine when she was growing up so I understand that. But Nelson Mandela...I guess he really touched their lives when they met him. I'm sure this will make Oprah very happy haha.
