And no, it's not. I would say we're all "terrific" at writing our name....but if you would right it 10 times, is every letter going to look identical? NO

 

 

Just like a basketball player is terrific at certain shots....is it going to go in EVERY time? NO.

 

It's possible for a few words to be the same, but for 2 verses to be the same?? A chorus??? NO.

to me all this over analyses of what word is playback and what not is getting old. I can't give F about that anymore. I love Céline and I love the shows she give with or withOUT playback!She doesn't have to prove to me she can sing a 17 year old track or not. I know she can. and if you need to have a special password section, just make your own forum!

Yes, and you know what they told her when she lost her voice?

 

They told her "she didn't know how to sing" and needed to develop proper techniques.

 

And by proper techniques I can guarantee you they didn't mean by creating playback tracks for even simple songs like Misled and I Wish.

 

Point is, Celine didn't lose her voice because she sang live too much. She lost it because of her lack of technique. Look at the Unison Tour, her only 100% live tour, and then look at the FIY tour.....even though the FIY tour had a bunch of playback, the live songs it had were still more challenging then those in the Unison Tour.... Not too mention the tour was nearly double in terms of the dates...

 

And to get back on topic, now that we know Natural Woman was cut from the Memphis Concert, I wonder about Fly. It also says it was cut in March of 1997, same as NW....so I wonder if it was cut before/after the concert...

Yes, and I just wanted to add: I have nothing against Playback! Celine:

-But don't use the same Oooooooooooooooold pre-recorded vocal! Use now ones at each tour please!

-It's ok to lip sync EOM, Alone, TC but try to not lip synch hits such as MHWGO and the note of ABM please!

Why don't you 4 PM each other, or just have a nice chat on MSN about it everyday, instead annoying the crap of 90% members on the forum by repeating the same old thing again and again. You should understand others know when she uses playback just as much as you, or some others don't give a damn about it at all. The annoying thing is not discuss about playback civilly. The annoying thing is always the same people repeat the same thing again and again with nothing new to add, and think all others who don't agree with them are idiots who can't tell what is playback.

In my opinion the sooner we have a playback topic, the better.

 

I have very little interest in discussing playback at any great length, but I don't see why one topic cannot be created and maintained for & by those who do find it interesting. It's become a valid discussion as it is now an integral part of Celine's live career.

 

If as you say Bellamy, 90% of members are annoyed by the subject, then isn't it better to have somewhere that the 10% can discuss this to their hearts desire without having to involve others and also thereby make it easier for mods to re-direct non relevant discussion of playback, meaning less chance of discussions like this going off-topic so much.

 

It would seem that most of the interested parties are just as frustrated about not having anywhere to comfortably discuss this, as those who are bored by the subject invading other areas.

 

Am I to believe that there is a current policy on this forum that playback topics are not allowed? If it was a case that there were three or four open at once I could understand the need to merge them, but to say that not even one such topic can be allowed to continue seems a bit elitist and one-sided.

 

Of course it is one of those topics that will divide people, but we're not all immature children on this forum and I'm sure that most sensible people can handle a little bit of controversy in a topic such as this. Surely there is someone who can moderate it and maintain a sense of order and fairness to it.

 

These people are our forum friends and have a right to continue to engage in civilised discussion on the forum, without being asked to do so on pm or msn.

While i would agree that this post has now been a bit high-jacked by playback talk, so far I haven't noticed any uncivil posts being made which would lead anyone to be offended.

I know some of these members personally and have always found them to be extremley polite and courteous on the forum. But if certain members are seen to be offensive than there are policies in place to admonish or even ban them, but to say that members can continue to post on the forum as long as they do not discuss playback seems churlish.

I, for one, am tired of having to sieve through those posts to get to the real discussions.

It is a real issue and people should be able to discuss it if they want to.

Let them have a place to go and then you also have a place to move the posts from topics like this.

Look I dont want to add to the hi-jacking of this particular topic, as that is a pet peave of mine, which you may recall is one of the reasons why I believed that a playback topic is called for. But i just want to add one more thing.

 

As with any topc on this board, the discussion itself may become offensive, but the notion that playback itself as a topic could be considered offensive would seem to me to be quite ridiculous, it's not a topic about Celine: The Anti-Christ.

I don't agree that a topic like this should be banned from the forum just to apease certain individuals own personal sensitivities on the subject.

Bellamy, a playback topic would be one out of thousands of topics on the forum. There are plenty of discussions on different aspects of Celine's life, including the more outrageous subjects such as "The forbidden topic - Celine and lust" - discussing Celine's sex drive! You allow people to talk about what Celine gets up to after a concert, but not what she gets up to DURING a concert!

 

 

 

 

If you are interested in my suggestions as to codes of conduct for such a topic, then feel free to PM me as I have a few ideas that I believe should make this work for everyone concerned.
