I was gonna ask if people wanted to sit next someone specific and then I'll make place names for them. The others can sit where they like. I think it's 8 per table but I'll check when I get home. About to have dinner with Lindsey :D

I would like to sit next to this one crazy lady her name is C-E-L-I.....

Can I request a rolling chair so that I can just roll over to every single table bc I want to see everrrryone! :P

So exciting! :whee:

 that is a good idea!!

If the tables are only for 8 people, it's waaaay to small because the list of the peoples I really want to sit close to is way more than just 8 people haha

I think it should be a free for all where we sit. Some of us are travelling a long distance to meet with people we've talked to online for years. It would be nice to sit next to them.

I agree with Alex on the reserving places thing. Having some people with name tags on tables just confuses the whole thing. If people want to sit next to each other badly enough then they should make arrangements before going into the room, but that's just my opinion.

And though it will be nice to go over to another table and say hi, there will already have been time to interact and mingle at the registration meeting, as well as after. We can't have a bunch of people wandering around the room while the staff are trying to serve food.

Well, it's a buffet and we have the room for 2 hours, so we can sit and eat and then walk around and mingle :D

I would like to have at least 4 or 5 table in one section with place names for those people that are shy and really want to be with their friends.

Agreed. People are coming with their friends/family and want to sit together, I'm sure. Imagine them coming in late and not being able to find two seats together... we'll need to be sure that everyone is comfortable. :)

That is a good idea as many are coming in groups

That's kinda a tricky issue.

In one hand I like the idea of tags on the tables so everyone or most of us have fixed places. This way it would be better organized, esp. that we'll be sooo many, lol! :P

But... I wouldn't like the things to turn out bad in the way that there would be permanent groups for all 2 hours so we would be limited to interacting almost solely with those who are at the same table with us.

I, for instance, have so many people that I would like to meet in person, chat a bit, take a pic together (I know there'll be that big group pic but I mean pics together with only one or 2 more people on it, except me).

There are quite some people I want to re-see after some years (for example JP, Tam, Ro, Tam, Tracy, Stijn, Vic...) and some new (as for real life) that I would be more than happy to finally be able to chat to chat (for example Alex, Bellamy, Chuck, Jane, Kimbo, Linds...) and my list is indeed quite long, lol! :P At least Jimena and Tracey I'll be meeting the day before already but that's only a very small part of my list, lol! :P

So it would be nice if we would be able to swap seats from time to time so everyone would have a chance to take to everyone she/he wants to talk to or maybe even to literarly everyone - I mean, I don't know all of the people who are coming but there's still nothing wrong with saying "hi" and meeting the "unknown" ones, right? :)

I know there will be the meeting at 11am but I'm not sure what is this exactely about (besides of handing out the name tags etc.) so I don't know whether this will be already a good time and place to interact with the others or not...

We also have another meeting room booked before the lunch for ice-breakers and registration pack and flash mob practice.

We have it from 11am to 1pm at the Imperial Palace.

That is the place to hang and get to know people.

 So the registration is no longer taking place at Caesars? I'm sure you tried everything to get a room at Caesars and I know it's easy for me to moan; but damn, that's a bit of a pain, especially for those not staying at the IP to begin with. Do you know how long it will take to walk from the room at the Imperial Palace to Planet Hollywood? :hmm: I guess it won't take too long, but sometimes seemingly short distances in Vegas can take much longer than you'd expect.

What a pity Caesars couldn't accommodate a large group of Celine Dion fans at the premiere of her show. Now that she has arrived at Vegas, and the momentum there is building, could ye give it one last try?

Please keep in mind the price difference between this size room at Caesars Palace and the same room at the Imperial Palace. Let's be honest - there is practically no difference here, as the IP is directly across the street from Caesars Palace.

There is indeed a difference. I suppose we'll get more bang for our buck. I just worry about IP's not-so-good reputation.

Anything I can do to help, let me know.

Don't worry too much about that. I attended a function in an Imperial Palace ballroom/meeting space once, and while it wasn't necessarily fancy or modern, it definitely served its purpose! We just need a big room to meet that's in close proximity to Caesars - and Jane found us a great one. :)

We were hoping to get sponsors to help pay for these things, but have not found any.

I suggested to the other organisers that we charge a small fee for the registration packs and room rental. About $15.

They thought that you would all be angry if we asked you to pay, so we are all putting our own money together to pay for it.

I have already paid for the room with my own money, which I seriously cannot afford right now and might not even make it to Las Vegas because of that.

THAT is why we cannot go to Caesars, because a room the same size is almost $2000 !!!

You are in denial if you think that Caesars will give us a discount just because we are Celine's fans.

Planet Hollywood is just across the street.

Well, that's very kind of you, but it's unfair. It's not necessary to cause you such a problem. Couldn't we simply meet and register at Planet Hollywood that we already paid for? Or maybe meet outside the Caesar's?

Posted

Wlhile I am sure everyone going agrees that it is very generous of you guys to pay for the room, I do think that it would have been an option to inform people in advance that there was an issue and that a nominal fee may need to be paid to help cover costs so that we could keep all the events at Caesars. Maybe the response would have been positive. Most people here are aware that this is not a profit making organisation and that costs have to be covered by someone. It is not neccessary for anyone to put their own trip to Vegas in jeopardy to cover costs incurred by us as a group. No one expects, or wants someone to do that.

The registration room has been advertised as being in Caesars Palace from day 1 on the ICDFM website, so I was just surprised yesterday to learn otherwise. I had assumed that a deal had been struck with the people at Caesars and that a room had been set aside for us, since there was, to my knowledge, no mention of any problems securing it untill now. I don't believe that means I am in denial, and I don't think that comment was called for, but I understand that in these last few weeks the stress on you guys must be immense, so no hard feelings :flowers:

You can't be surprised when people start asking the very same questions that you must have been asking when you were first made aware of the situation. Just remember, I'm not asking these questions to be awkward, I just want to see the fan meeting be a success, almost as much as you guys do.

I'm glad to hear that you don't believe it is going to be a big trek on the day, it is something that I wouldn't know for sure myself, but from past experience I have found that walking across the street in Vegas is not always a 5 minute excercise. For over a hundred people to get from one casino to the other could take a bit of time, so I was just wondering as to the logistics, thats all.

Ooooh. This is not fair for you to have to pay for everything, Jane.

We need to charge a cover fee or just meet at Planet Hollywood. No one needs to go broke over a fan meeting. We can't let that happen.

What about if we rent the room for PH for another hour? How much will that run us? We might as well get that taken care of. Perhaps we can arrange a seating chart online? Have a blank page and we fill out who we want to sit next to (or one person from our "little groups" take the liberty of doing so)?

I know I'll help as much as I can.

Best,

Alex

I should think so. If there are contributions needed then money has to be raised, simple as. I don't think that it should be a donation thing though. You pay your share or just don't attend the registration part. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way it has to be at this stage. Fair is fair. But yeah an extra hour in PH would seem to be better. (Except for the rehearsals for those doing the flash mob.)

I like a seating chart online. But but if everyone can do it, it will become a mess. Maybe request your seats to the organizer?

I think maybe make a poll. If most people has no problem with pay for the registration we can book a room at CP maybe. Or just an extra hour in PH.

I certainly wouldnt mind paying a charge. We cant expect everything for free and its not fair if just because certain people are organising it that they should have to manage the costs themselves when they are organising this event for others benefit as well as their own.

I really really appreciate all the work the organizers are doing!. Maybe you could ask for donations, who knows what could turn up there :)

About Imperial Palace. I really don't see what's the problem with having a meeting there. And it takes maybe 3-5 min to walk over to Caesars Palace, some fresh air will do us good before some lunch :) (btw, Céline wont turn up at the meeting at Caesars Palace anyway... so it wont matter if it's held at IP)
