I haven't been on board for about 2 weeks so I've missed on that big discussion here, lol.

I know, I know, you've said the topic is closed but still...

 

Personally I'm sooo looking forward to everything about this meeting: to meet the other fans in the first place but also to get that name tag and optionally other souvenir(s) which will be a nice reminders of that meeting.

I can imagine how much money all that stuff costs - not only the organizing but also the materials such as paper for printing out stuff, those plastic thingies for the badges etc. etc.

 

I was literally shocked over Jane's e-mail telling that she paid a solid amount of money for that conference room booking and as a result she may not be able to make it to Vegas!!! O_o That's really shocking and in my little, humble opnion - very unfair.

 

Sure, it was said that the meeting would be "for free" but why is that? It sounds extremely unfair that most of us will arrive as guests and enjoy all the benefits while a very few people who are in the organizers team have paid for all that fun?! I mean, if we'd have a sponsor(s) that donate for this than I would probably be fine with that but as it turned the other way and there are no sponsors - why on Earth do we allow such a shameless unfairness??!! Sure, the organizers offered it out of their huge generousity but for me it's still unacceptable.

 

 

We all (or at least most of us) want to get as much off this meeting as possible - not only meeting with the others but also get some keepsakers, spend some cosy time together in that conference room (instead of scattering around outside at possibly not-so-nice weather) and so on, and so on. So why couldn't we scratch those 15$ oer person out of our purses which still would be only a simbolic input into that huge event and many of the things involved in the meeting would still remain "free" for us that way anyway but maybe we would be able to at least give a little support to the organizers.

 

Personally I would be for sharing all costs, that is not only those of the badges/welgifts but also those of the conference room fee etc. but I guess I'm too late with this opinion. Unfortunately it doesn't change anything anymore on the fact that I will feel quite uncomfortable to get all that stuff for free and being served knowing that some few members and attendants of the meeting put the whole fortune into it...

 

Don't get me wrong, of course I'm not a millionaire, I'm spending a loooot of money on this trip already considering all the flights, hotel, tickets (Céline and other shows), food, transportations and so on, and so on! But I would say it's not an excuse at all - how it could be??! I bet that most of us, despite of the money we've already spent on our trip, will buy at least the show programme and probably some stuff at the Céline Dion Store (and that regardless of the insane prices there, lol).

 

OK, I stop bubbling around now but I just can't hide it how it strucks me how people want to get everything for free even though they know the stuff in question isn't free at all and someone(s) invested a lot to make it happen.

We have had a few other donations which will cover the cost of a few things.

 

So we are booked in the Pearl Room at the Imperial Palace at 11am.

I'm updating icdfm.org every other day so keep checking it.

 

My husband had the brainy idea of looking for cheaper flights at other nearby airports and we found one that was $300 cheaper than going from Dallas so we are coming That was a huge relief. We are lucky that we have 4 airports all within a 3 hour drive.
