TCWT/CTTEOTW Complaining & Venting Thread

I have always defended Celine against her critics on Youtube that say she lipped the tour etc., but with the new leaks of the Taking Chances World Tour Live CD, Im just angry and upset that I have been fooling myself.

 

All By Myself: I always thought the entire song was live and that Celine lipped TPOL, IDAN, TLYM, in order to preserve her voice for that song. Unfortunately, it appears I was fooled and the live note is "lipped." What angers me even more is that the version they recorded in the studio sounds terrible. But that is not the worst part, the worst part is that they used that same recording in the movie for the night that she "lost her voice." How can the vocals be exactly the same as the concert in Boston where her voice was obviously in ok shape?

 

The Power of Love: I love the new track, but why could she not lip to this track during the entire tour? It is so obvious as many have stated that this was dubbed, especially since her lips move at the end to the original track and not the new one.

 

TLYM: Again, really love the new live version, but why not lip this version in the tour?

 

MHWGO: We all know she can still sing this perfectly, why not sing it live during the tour?

 

All her new songs were live on the tour and sung amazingly, why not do the same with the old ones? or leave out TPOL, ABM, and TLYM.

 

I feel cheated both by going to see her "live", defending her for singing "live", and buying her Montreal & Boston DVD/CD (apparently they are both the same with the exception of the french songs).

 

I don't think its Celine's fault. Blame her management. I just hope the new Vegas show is "live." If she doesn't want to sing live anymore I say she should just take a break and enjoy life. We have expected way too much of her and she delivered: especially in the 90s. I wish I could have gone and seen her during her epic years: The Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love World Tours.

 

Rene, better watch out, because this has a potential to get nasty if the media ever discovers that Celine lipped "live" concerts and that the DVD is not a "live" DVD but a dubbed one. Anyone remember the backlash after the UK "Celine Special?"

I've listened almost the CD now in its entirety, and though many songs are OK (whatever they have done to them, prerecorded them or live from the Boston concerts), the worst ones to me are All By Myself and Alone How could she sing so nasal?

 

I haven't listened LCMM yet because I'm so bored of that song even to listen a new version

 

Now to the classics: IACBTMN sounds ok to me (the band does great work there), but BYLM is a disaster Sounds as bad as in the Vegas CD. And TLYM is moreless ok too, but Céline has a weird voice at the beggining (when she sings "Take me..."). I don't know what happens to her for doing these changes in her voice

 

So this is my first impression. But you know impressions change with the next listenings

 

BTW, I'm delighted with the work of the band for this concert. They have made the songs sound in a new shape for this CD (contrary to what happened in the Vegas CD) It seems they have improved the instrumentation of the songs, and I applaud them :in_love:

 

AND also a big BRAVO to Mego's piece, "New Mego's Flamenco" :w00t: I'm totally amazed with this track, its so powerful, and I hope he delivers more songs like this for Céline's concerts in the future! :clap:

got the dvd/cd today!!! YAY!!! oke since it's not the complaining thread, I won't say anything about the cover or the boring layout overall got IDAN on now, which to me sounds good! only thing though... she only says IS THAT ALL RIGHT BOSTON in the intro.... but she doesn't sang I DROVE ALL NIIIIGHT so I dunno if it's cut or she didn't sing it?

 

 

oke I checked the dvd, and she didn't sing it! LOL

 

 

btw the whole dvd is 1 hour, 42 minutes long

Yeah Davey, it's on the list of complaints. She definitely sang it both nights in Boston, I've seen the vids. Apparently it's in the TTEOTW movie though so we can get it from that and do some "technical magic"...although you just saw the movie so didn't you see that?

now I have seen the movie - no that is not true. All By Myself is twice in the movie. The first time including that raw note, and later when she has having voiceproblems, we hear another version with another (better!) endnote, not the raw one!

The only "complaint" I have about the concert CD/DVD is the I Drove All Night intro on the DVD is not loud enough and they should have kept the visuals rather than edit it and show her in the different countries.

I always pump up the volume (because I love that intro) and then have to quickly turn it down when the guitar build-up comes in.

I really did like the movie but no "show must go on (studio version)" and I wanted this version so much!!! What do you want me to think?

Let me tell ya this: I don't believe there ever was a studio version of TSMGO per se. It was probably the audio track from the concert. They have edited out the audience too much so the audio of some songs sounds like studio versions.

Yea but like I explained I think it is the same version. Could be wrong though, it just got to me that I haven't heard the version you talk about!
