UPDATE: Celine's 5th attempt with in-vitro

I still don't get it...If they announced the results were positive and then they turned out to be negative, then she...lost the baby?..

 

 

I recall hearing that Celine and Rene had no choice but to make the announcement she was pregnant. If memory serves me correctly, wasn't there an article out there that said Celine had called her mother while she was out shopping and told her she was pregnant. Someone overheard her mother's response and quickly took it to a radio station and because of this, they made it known. It sound to me that it was never their intention to let the news out she was pregnant so early. Maybe they had planned to wait just in case something like this happened but their hand was forced.

 

I'm sorry to hear the news as well but as the Montreal journal seems to suggest, though they were saddened about the miscarriage, they will try again. All they can do is move on (cautiously, considering other risk that someone else suggested) because they can't bring that lost embryo back. As others have mentioned here, let's pray mightily for them that everything turns out on their behalf. If it's going to happen, it will happen and I believe both Celine and Rene understand this. They may not be as "heart broken" as some are assuming because they understood the risk when they went in. Just my opinion.

 

Another thing, if she is undergoing treatments for another pregnancy, makes me curious about some things (not that it's my business) 1) there was more than the one frozen embryo left 2) they've determined that it is ok to use Rene's sperm since it has been a while since his last cancer treatment or 3) I'm not going to state my third one because I don't want to make any assumptions but some of you may figure out what I'm thinking

Céline Dion isn't pregnant after all – but will keep on trying for a second child.

 

"We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [iVF]. The process can be long and arduous," Dion's husband René Angélil, 67, told the Canadian paper Journal de Montreal of their failed attempts. "But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever."

 

Forty-one-year-old Dion's doctor announced that she was pregnant via in vitro fertilization very early in the process, and it is now revealed that the embryos transferred in August and October were unsuccessful.

 

"Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn't the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked," said Angélil. They quickly tried again to get pregnant, but were unsuccessful, he added, "But you know Céline. She doesn't let go."

 

The couple have one "extraordinary" son, René-Charles, born in 2001, who was also conceived with the help of Rosenwaks, director of the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center Medical Center.

 

"I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests," Angélil told the paper, revealing the couple will go to New York this weekend for a third try. "Céline and I didn't get discouraged ... we put our faith in life and in the stars."

This is really starting to sound true.

But part of me feels something's wrong with all this. Like, its not like Celine to keep things to herself, we all know that. So if she lost the baby 10 days after the announcement in August, something could have been said closer to then. I just really don't want this to be true

 

 

Maybe now that Celine is older and has a family of her own, she's realizing it is not always the best thing to be so open about EVERYTHING. I think if this all turns out to be true, which it actually might be, she and Rene needed time to heal from the hurt. We all know she's human, but this makes her even more human. Personally, I have a problem when the media is in people's faces with cameras, microphones, pad and pencil wanting an interview or statement immediately after something sad or tragic has happened to that family. They should wait and let the family contact them when they are ready to talk. With Celine, I think she would have done it in her own time if she knew this was her last and only chance to ever have a child with the man she loves. Knowing that it wasn't, why bother letting it be known if she were going to try again (I hope this question makes sense)?

MONTREAL - The husband of pop diva Celine Dion has revealed that she is no longer pregnant. In an interview with the Journal de Montreal, Rene Angelil said the latest in vitro fertilization treatment she underwent was unsuccessful. The singer had announced this latest pregnancy last August but chose to remain quiet on the fact that her situation had changed. Angelil said Dion underwent another treatment in October and that a third is planned.

 

"We're living the reality of the majority of couples who face these procreation techniques," Angelil said in a telephone interview from the couple's Florida home. "The road can be long and difficult. It doesn't always work as was the case the first time with (their 8-year-old son) Rene-Charles.

 

"Last August, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks thought the pregnancy was well underway. That wasn't the case. We found out about 10 days later. We were definitely in shock."

 

Dion and Angelil decided to keep the sad news to themselves as they hoped another treatment would quickly lead to another pregnancy.

 

"It was negative," Angelil, 67, said of the second attempt. "But you know Celine - she doesn't give up. And I admire all those women who go through this difficult process. She's undergone numerous examinations, hormone injections and blood tests. We have to go to New York often. Celine and I aren't discouraged since we already have an extraordinary son, Rene-Charles. It's not as though we don't have any children. So we have faith in life and in our lucky star."

 

The couple will travel to New York this weekend for a third try.

 

 

"The doctors are optimistic and remind us that it's normal with a procreation procedure like this to have to try more than once," Angelil explained.

 

The 41-year-old pop icon's husband and manager added that he is speaking publicly because he has felt the outside pressure regarding the pregnancy and because the results of the other attempts aren't yet conclusive.

 

"Celine and I especially want to say that we're not discouraged (and) that with our son we know we are privileged parents. And that we're again trying to have this second pregnancy with the help of Dr. Zev Rosenwaks's team," he noted.

 

"Couples who have undergone these procedures will certainly understand our silence these last weeks. But we're full of confidence today. Celine is more determined than ever."

 

Fertility specialists generally say the chances that an in vitro fertilization will succeed are one in four.

I was slept so little last night worrying about her miscarrying and now to find out that she hasn't been pregnant for months is just...I don't even know how to describe how I feel. So this wasn't a miscarriage, she just wasn't pregnant like they thought, that the IVF didn't work. I'm a bit shocked they are going to try again after this but I'm glad they are going to try again they deserve this baby more than anyone I know.

 

I'm glad that Celine and Rene aren't letting this stop them from becoming parent's again. I wish them all the luck in the world and I will be praying for them.

So, to summarize, Celine may have been preggers chemically, but not physically. which, after this news and the fact that no belly was showing in the latest pics which have come up, may prove this to be true. again, i am terribly sorry for Celine, but as others have said, they knew what they were going into. I still hope and pray that God gives them another miracle baby.

The whole "If you can't get pregnant just adopt!" thing is really irresponsible, Perez. I mean, maybe not for Celine and Rene, who are rich. But for those of us who would love to have children but are unable, and are not wealthy… did you know that the beginning costs for adoption (in my country, anyway) are at least $20 000?
