Gonna do some work today, just waiting for the iron to get hot. Was on the road for 4 hours yesterday to get wadding and some white linen fabric for the quilt. I also got some more interfacing for the see through and slippery fabrics, that's what I'm gonna focus on today

DEADLINE FOR DONATIONS: AUGUST 15th

 

It's about time we set a deadline and I think two weeks from now will be good. So, if you'd like to be a part of this (and please be!) then donations to CF2 must be sent no later than August 15th (see the first page for instructions). After that I need to sit down and arrange the layout of the embroidery.

 

The text on the back will of course be of our names and country, but also a smaller message, what do you think that should be? Simply a "congratulations on your baby boy" message (more for Celine & Rene), a "welcome to the world" kind of thing (more for the baby), or perhaps a quote from one of Celine's songs? Post your thoughts and ideas here (or PM me if you'd like to be anonymous and I'll post it). I think we need to have decided on something within two weeks as well

I've run into some trouble.. Some pieces are too short for the pattern I had in mind, and to add pieces together won't end up looking good, so I'll have to take some spare pieces and use my imagination if that's okay

Update:

 

Can't find my memory card for my camera, but what I've done is this (this is going to be an odd explanation)

 

1) Cut the fabrics (all except three) in 5,5 cm strips (like the pic I posted earlier)

2) Sewn the different strips together along the sides

3) Cut these pieces in 5,5 cm strips

4) Sewn the strips together so that they look like rings

5) Opened up the rings in different places so that when you lay them on top of each other they create a diagonal pattern

6) Sewn these strips together with another, less wide, strip in between (since not all fabrics have been 100% cotton they stretch differently, interfacing did not fix this problem 100% = not having strips in between will look odd since the squares won't meet in a nice and even way)

 

There will be a smaller strip (like the ones running between the square strips) going around this piece, and then a wider strip outside of that. Those two strips will look exactly the same in the back, but in the middle there will be white linen with the embroidery on it.
