Céline's Blues Posted September 30, 2007 at 05:19 PM Author Posted September 30, 2007 at 05:19 PM I liked this song when I heard it the first time, but have to say I don't hear an ounce of Unison influence. It's hardly an up tempo song, and Unison is one of Celine's more up tempo songs. What's the comparison based on? It doesn't even sound date to me.no, no, no, Shon - Unison referring to her runs and vocal acrobatics which sound at times SO Céline. Referring to the vocal era - Unison/Celine Dion. leenylover Posted October 20, 2007 at 09:23 AM Posted October 20, 2007 at 09:23 AM I really love this song, it feels like it has a lot of power, with the vocals and the strong, slow beat. The strings give it that extra kick. I was keen to watch the music video, but although, visually, it looks quite dramatic, I don't think it quite works, I also think they needed to do a little more to tie Leona into the story line... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnfGgy13stE Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!
disadiva Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:26 AM Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:26 AM I think Leona is great but she is to much a copycat of Mariah she will never beat the original but she´s a nice girl and i hope her album will be something diffirent from a Mariah 90´s stuff. She did a wonderful job on Celine´s All By Myself she did her own version of the song. neilg Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:12 PM Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:12 PM I really don't know what to think of her. I thought the X Factor today was rubbish, and obviously Leona was going to shine compared to the other performances. I think she's a bit clumsy, what with her swaying, quivering lips, and poor microphone control - and I don't think she has a powerful voice, or a unique, special voice. I just think she appeared to be good tonight because everyone else was so bad. Bring on next week, and let's see Ms Dion mop the floor with Leona. Quote

Bring on next week, and let's see Ms Dion mop the floor with Leona. She's been singing professionally for less than one year, so I think she's doing okay in terms of her performance. She'll get better, I'm sure. But I really disagree about her voice, I think it's definitely special. And if someone appears good because the others were bad, doesn't that mean they are more talented? You seem to saying the fact they're bad is making her seem more talented than she really is when infact the reason all this years contestants seem so bad in comparison is because she is lightyears ahead of them in terms of vocal quality and ability. Shaun Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:34 PM Posted October 20, 2007 at 11:34 PM I suppose it's inevitable that Leona would be compared to this years contestants but the gulf in class really was very very wide. This years contestants really need to pull it together and quickly otherwise they will fade into obscurity. Some of tonights performances were woeful. firebird Posted October 21, 2007 at 06:21 AM Posted October 21, 2007 at 06:21 AM Thanks for the video, Thomas. Just too bad that on shows like this they always sing to music coming from a backing track instead of using live musicians. Quote

Shaun Posted October 24, 2007 at 09:15 PM Posted October 24, 2007 at 09:15 PM Leona mania is taking over the country. So high is the demand for copies of her new single Bleeding Love that some branches of HMV have actually sold out of copies. But don’t panic Leona fans, more CDs are being dispatched. Phew! In fact, according our pals at HMV, Leona is on course to sell an amazing 250,000 singles, making Bleeding Love the fastest selling single of the year. Wow. http://www.heatworld.com/Article.asp...2%80%9d+at+HMV Apparently she is outselling nearest rivals Take That by 4 to 1. A guaranteed number 1 on Sunday. salsacolin Posted October 25, 2007 at 10:48 PM Posted October 25, 2007 at 10:48 PM (edited) OMG that shows what an appearance on X Factor can do. I would say Take That are by far more popular than Leona. If they had been on X Factor..... - I hope it does wonders for Celine - although her airplay is soooo low here. I do like Leona but I cant be a fan of her because as much as her voice is amazing there is no interesting sounds in it for me. I like a voice to be different, instantly recognisable. Leona while very very good is just like a normal soul voice to me. Although very very good. But I prefer Toni Braxton thats a unique voice. Also she needs to learn stage presence she is pretty but has no sex appeal - she has very little interesting to say in interviews as yet. it really is only her voice that is carrying her. leenylover Posted October 28, 2007 at 07:12 PM Posted October 28, 2007 at 07:12 PM Leona Lewis (not surprisingly) is at number one! X Factor winner Leona Lewis has topped the singles chart with the biggest week one sales this year. Her song, Bleeding Love, was the first from her debut album and it outsold the rest of the top five put together, with 218,000 copies. She beat Take That's Rule The World into second place and last week's number one, Sugababes' About You Now into fourth. McFly's The Heart Never Lies was third while Mark Ronson's Valerie was fifth. 'Absolutely thrilled' Ronson's single, a version of the Zutons track, features Amy Winehouse on vocals. X Factor judge Simon Cowell said of Lewis's achievement: "The sales are incredible. I'm absolutely thrilled for Leona, she thoroughly deserves it." Britney Spears's Gimme More fell three places to number six, while Oasis's Lord Don't Slow Me Down was at number 10. Van Morrison reached his highest position in the album chart at number two with Still on Top - The Greatest Hits. The Trick to Life, by the Hoosiers, went straight in at number one, with Mark Ronson's Version at three, the Sugababes' Change at four and Back to Black, by Amy Winehouse, at five. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7066448.stm Well Done Leona! Although I know Celine doesn't have a strong single-buying fan base, I hope that her release can have some success in the chart too! Love Lisaxxx Quote My List of Celine Dion stuff, PM me to trade!

dj4celine Posted October 28, 2007 at 10:22 PM Posted October 28, 2007 at 10:22 PM Davey, A Moment Like This isn't a Whitney cover, rather a Kelly Clarkson cover. And Yikes, her debut album's gonna have sooooooo many covers And the media critics used to call Celine a cover-queen... now let's see what they have to tell about Leona Quote
Elaine Posted October 28, 2007 at 11:07 PM Posted October 28, 2007 at 11:07 PM I'm listening to it now... Leona's got such a beautiful voice!!! Céline's version is unbeatable.
