Shaun Posted May 3, 2009 at 07:25 PM Posted May 3, 2009 at 07:25 PM Rene has been an excellent manager to Celine. She's a worldwide superstar who is respected for having a great singing voice and for a being a compasionate down to earth celebrity. NOT for taking her clothes off, NOT for making sexy risque videos, NOT for dissing other celebrities. Celine is famous for having a phenomenal voice, just as it should be as she's a singer. Rene has done his job. However there have been major mistakes along the journey. I agree with pretty much everything Gonzalillo says but I think it all started to go wrong with the release of "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" as a single. Celine left the limelight in 1999 with a fresh new sound in "That's The Way It Is" that was a success around the world and equally she returned with good upbeat pop records in 2002 with "A New Day Has Come" and "I'm Alive." Almost everything about 2002 was good until "Goodbye's The Saddest Word." That one decision killed the ANDHC album and it had so much more life in it. Since then almost every decision has been baffling. Involvement in things like "Miracle", one single albums like "D'elles", the unbelievable decision to release "Live In Las Vegas" album in the quality it was and then the latest howlers by releasing covers from "Taking Chances" when almost the whole world was dying to see what new direction Celine would take musically. Rene has been great for Celine but ever so slowly she IS being remembered for the 90's ballads and nothing else. Sad really, so much more could've happened if different decisions were made.
