ladylindsey Posted December 20, 2009 at 06:31 PM Posted December 20, 2009 at 06:31 PM I went to 5 Target stores today (I hate how they don't have the entire collection at each store....) to try on the Rodarte pieces that came out today. sooooo I kinda bought 5 dresses. Got the blue one, the black halter, another same fit halter with a print (loveee), a leopard print dress with bows on the back! And the beige/black silky one. Love love love. The dresses with the bows on the shoulder BIG NONO. I figured as much. I want to put them on someone other than me because they are adorable. I have small framed shoulders so when you put something on my shoulders, it looks like it is actually sitting heavily on my shoulders and I disappear haha. BUT I bet the Balmain exaggerated shoulders would look amazing on me. Too bad I will never have a Balmain jacket or dress! I will post some pics! Quote

I was just browsing through this thread and realised that people have different opinions on what looks nice...which is how the whole industry works. I appreciate that others have different styles, I enjoy coming on here and seeing what you all have bought. And the money thing, taking into account fabrics, costs, threads etc... my grandmother used to make all of my fathers clothes, and my aunties and uncles. All of her dresses were made by her, using luxury fabrics that were affordable at the time for her gowns.... which if done properly would probably be cheaper then buying a designer one... You buy a sewing machine and use it more than once... All I am trying to say, is that money obviously is needed for some of the nicer clothes... but it doesn't mean that having less money equals bad clothes. On another note, has anyone been in the highstreet shop Topshop recently? Some really wonderful clothes in there. My mom has been sewing her entire life and was taught by her aunt, she rarely buys stuff but sews hers and others clothes (including mine when I was younger, and still do if there's something I'd like. I have an off white summer wool waiting to become a coat LOL). She's the one that taught me to sew and it's thanks to her that I know about and appreciate quality. Never said anything of the sort, sorry if you've misunderstood me Got a couple of tailored pants there a couple of years ago, but other than that I rarely find something I like.. ladylindsey Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:19 AM Posted December 21, 2009 at 06:19 AM Okie here we go! My dog contributed her tennis ball to the photoshoot haha Black and beige silky fabric, cinched at waist. It's very blousy up top. Leopard print dress with 3 bows on the back over the zipper I didn't expect to like this one, but it fits me like a glove and I love prints like this! The pretty blue Cinderella dress I love how feminine it is, especially with the see through fabric around the neck! This is a halter floral print dress. I love how it fits and flares, it has some tulle underneath to elevate the skirt. Love the contrast of the black bow and lighter print. reminded me of the Chanel dress Céline wore on Oprah (in black) and in South Africa (in peachy blush). And finally the black halter. It is a textured lace fabric. Love the fit, it might be my favorite! It will be a great L.B.D! I'm going to have fun accessorizing! Sooooo now I need 5 parties to go to so I can wear my 5 awesome new dresses! Quote
Frida Posted December 21, 2009 at 07:30 AM Author Posted December 21, 2009 at 07:30 AM Too cuuuute! The black halter is definitely my favourite! Prince Whiskers Posted December 21, 2009 at 05:41 PM Posted December 21, 2009 at 05:41 PM I just got a Hugo Boss polo (indigo-ish with thin red stripes) from an uncle. I like it of course but I'm actually the type who prefers quantity to high-endedness. 1 Hugo Boss = 10 mid-end local stuff. What I'm eyeing right now is this pirate watch from an Italian brand called Vabene w/c is supposed to be the "in" thing among the cool peeps in Milan. Surprisingly cheap at less than $300 considering that you could fool people into thinking that it's a Rolex bec. of the Swarovski ornamentation and transparent bracelet. To dj: Have you heard of Bradford shoes? I thought of that weekend article from a local paper when I read your height-related posts. MTJ Posted December 28, 2009 at 06:10 AM Posted December 28, 2009 at 06:10 AM (edited) I just went shopping!(sorry, this is going to be a long post) I bought these shoes from Diesel: very similar to these shoes, which I've had for a couple years: In both pairs I love the unorthodox mix of colors (black and brown, black and blue) I also bought (impulse buy) these jeans from Post'age:the jeans are a dark, dark brown with a sheen finish on the denim (their color and sheen is more clear in the picture of my shoes). They almost look like leather. ALSOthese are my xmas presents: a fine merino wool turtleneck (charcoal) 15% cashmere 85% silk blend V neck in "snowcap" and my sister sent me this beautiful camel skin bracelet from Dakar, Senegal (Africa), where she's living for the year:(with the watch I bought a few months ago) PS Frida, I thought of you while I was in Neiman Marcus Edited December 28, 2009 at 07:05 AM by imgoingtobiteyoure_face Quote
