Céline Dion sera la grande vedette du gala de Star Académie du dimanche ler mars prochain. Ce sera sa dernière apparition publique avant de très très longues vacances fort bien méritées. On parle d'au moins un an et demi. Elle donnera alors priorité à sa famille et à ce deuxième bébé qu'elle désire tant. Céline Dion fera un très beau cadeau à ses fans du Québec, avant de s'accorder ces mois de ressourcement.

According to this journalist Céline will take a break of "at least" a year and a half!

No, she won't sing in english for sure. People in Quebec always think Celine is becoming an American so when she do television here, she don't sing in english.. The last time she sang in english here was in 2002

But i would like a real medley, with french and english songs

well i am sad that she is going to take her year and a have Hiatus, but when she does come back she usually comes back with a bang! She performs better than she did the time before the hiatus. After she had the respiratory infection and the time off after that worked wonders on her voice. Even though she is perfect already.

I don't agree with you on this JP. It's only because she's been performing in Vegas for the past years. At one point, years ago, it may have been sensitive but not these days. She can do whatever she wants to do. She didn't sing in english here because she came to perform mostly for ADISQ which celebrate french music in Québec or on TV shows like "L'École des fans" where children sing songs by francophone singers or to launch a french cd or special etc... When it was to present an english cd she sang in english always, for example on Julie's talk shows or on Céline specials and people wen't crazy about it actually. They wanted singers to sing in french mostly years ago, now singers can sing and do sing in any language they want. Time has gone by JP, these years things have changed. As for becoming an American, I've only heard that from people who don't like Céline's music that much and like to critisize her on anything she does or from maybe some people who love her french songs and miss seing her performing here. She's been gone for a long time in LV and she was so present for so many years. Apparently people missed her a lot, the attendance to her home shows are a great testament to this I think.

In conclusion, I really think Céline could sing in French or English or both that night. She could do a medly or two in both languages too. She could also do duets with students of the Academy or they could pay tribute to her songs themselves. She can do whatever she wants. We'll have to wait and see. If she chooses to sing only in French it will only happen because that's what she'll feel like doing.

IMO she sings mostly in French when she comes home because she misses singing in French(I heard her say it many times in the past years). Also they know people here love her french recordings just as much as her english ones if not more for many people. That's how people around me and I see this anyway and it's the only reason these days why she would sing only in French(if she chooses to do that this time) because she enjoys it very much and I will even say she needs it at one point.

A medley would be nice I agree with you...or anything Céline I must admit :wub: . :wub: I doubt it but hearing Céline singing "À cause" would be a dream come true for me!!!!!

okay so you guys might think im crazy, but the second i read that translation my eyes filled up..with mixed emotions! im sooooo happpyyy for Celine! shes finally taking a break and trying to have another baby! god i appreciate how much she does for her fans and is so hardworking and generous! im so glad shell be taking a break! but im just afraid ill miss her to much! :cry: ...not that im being selfish, but i dont know how to put it! yayy Celine!!!...but on the other hand :down:

and i can careless what she sings...any song that comes out of her mouth is going to be amazing!...ill miss you celine!!! o god this is so hard for me!

Crazy? Certainly not! I think I understand how you feel. :yes: Even though we're happy for her and we know she needs and deserves this break I feel it's going to be very hard not to miss her. :down: So let's enjoy every moment with her left(this TV show being one of them). :wub:

I hope she sings Je ne vous oublie pas, that would be a great song to leave with before her break!

I'm so glad she's taking a proper break, cos after 6 years of non-stop concerts and several albums she really does need a rest! And she's going to have another child, so go Celine!

A year and a half isn't a long time at all. She deserves it- and Rene will be cooking up something exciting during that time for her Big Return Part Deux. Please let her just go on the break quietly and not announce on every chat show on America that she is going to have a long break and meet life again.

Hmm...I kind of feel the same way you guys do, right now. I know I said I'm ok with it, like a million times, because this is what she wants. I know she needs a break, for the sake of her health, happiness, and relationships. I know she needs to try to have this baby, or she's always gonna resent her career for stopping her from doing that. But ahhhh....it's gonna be weird.

For those of you who have been fans for a long time, I have a question; last time she took a break, how often did you hear from her, or rather, anything about her?

Even if it's just a paparazzi pic or a small news article...I mean, will we get updates somehow, or are we gonna go for months and have no clue where she is or what she's doing?

she definitely deserves the break. happy that there will be the dvd released during her break. i hope that she takes the time to rest and when she comes back, she releases an album (one of the previously discussed albums: JP Ferland, Jazz, ....) that is well promoted.

9 her comeback plans!

And through the last years, I haven't her thát much in the magazines etc, so I don't think that would be different! hahaha! the only bad thing is, that we won't get new material for a while! But I still have a lot of catching up to do (the d'elles specials, the TC special, the TCWT videos :doh: ) plus we'll get the TCWT dvd, so it won't be that bad! :flowers: :thumbsup2:

im sad too guys but think of it this way?

how many months before 'Taking chances' came out di we know about it? 6 - 7 months? well when celine comes back she will need a new album. well she wll record this album on ther break that is for sure (at the near end of it) so we will have updates on that so it may only just under a year that we wont get anything from her!

Plus

. we will get the taking chances world tour dvd +++++ lots of features!! :clap: :clap:

. maybe the the gold collection part 2

. plus i bet sony will milk more out of celine now she nolonger has a major album out with those re-relices (collectors additions)

trust me there is going to be lots of new stuff for the fans over the next year or so, so dont worry!!

everyone of us on this forum will update anything we know that is for sure.

And to be honest look, the whole TC tour is almost finished, and it's been a year... and we all know that time flies so fast as I easily remember that it was just to begin...

I'll miss Celine but I think everybody needs a break:P and if she comes back with such a great album like ANDHC I'll be even happier.

i'm curious just if she will leave sony or not...

at this time i am just happy for her! we have enough time to save money to see her again and celine will be happy and relaxed when she hits the stage again!

and i am so thrilled because of the dvd!

of course we will miss her but celine knows her fans and she knows that we will wait for her, no matter how long she will have a break! so now i will start waiting for her! :clap: :wub:

I'm really looking forward to seeing this, although at the same time it will be sad....

But.... she really deserves the break, its well over due, and I hope she has a great 18 months off!!

On the other hand I think its also great for the huge fans like us on the board to get a break also, and do things we have put on hold, or just do something we've always wanted to do, spend more time with family/friends, or start a new chapter in our own lives and make the most of these 18 months also....

I for one am looking forward to this little break, but also look forward to Celine's return in late 2010 and what she has in store for us all!!!

I love you, goodbye OK, I am letting her go, anyway! I will miss her, but time flies, an year and a half is not so long, right? Until then I will have to watch all the old things that I've missed. Sometimes her eyes look a little tired, so I hope she"ll spend a great "vacation" and will come back more passionate than ever, as she always do

Star Academy!!! Cool! She will make us happy again. It doesn't really matter what she'll be singing, the important thing is that she will be there.
