Because what made the song popular could be due to how good the singer sang it, or the message of the song or the catchiness of the melody. That's just my point of view though. Quote

Duchess Posted May 16, 2011 at 09:56 AM Posted May 16, 2011 at 09:56 AM she has got to be the MOST overrated singer EVER. and it's because people have placed her on this pedestal that it has got to her head in a massive horrible way. i don't think that she has been a huge influence on mariah carey, whitney houston, celine dion. i think there have been other singers out there that have played a part in their careers. it's just when aretha appears on stage and there is an interview going on that mariah, whitney etc says how wonderful she is. i can't stand her she is so pompous and arrogant and when there is another singer on stage with her, she is sure as hell out to upstage that singer.
