I really enjoy listenging to the album. However, I feel it is very different from what hardcore Shania fans might have expected. I feel that, with the exception of 'Soldier', 'Poor Me' and 'Home Now', the bonus tracks are the albums strongest catchiest songs, i.e. 'Let's kiss and make up' and 'All in All'

Is it worth buying then?? I weren't sure whether or not I'd get it, but I'm a bit tempted now- especially as I have all her others.

It is :wub: But be prepared for a very different Shania.... in terms of voice, but also songs.

 

Really like the album, though I also have to get used to it. It's a rollercoaster of different musical styles, not just country/pop/rock.

Favs at the moment are "Soldier", "We Got Something They Don't", "Let's Kiss And Make Up" and "All in All".. and really like "Home Now" (against my expectations) and "Who's Gonna Be Your Girl". A lot of the other songs are growers.

 

Chart update: it looks like Shania will beat Miley Cyrus and Demi Lavato (with a big advantage) and debut at #1. She's currently #2 in the UK midweeks, with only 1000 copies behind the #1 (yesterday).

still enjoying her like i did back 20 years ago :w00t:

 

the songs are easy listening, HOME is my fav one :wub: :wub: :wub:

 

the voice, are there :wub: she has no 20's anymore

i got the album like 1 day before it's official release here in australia which is like about 2 days if u live in some other countries...

anyway i love the album alot! i have been listen to it many times and i really like this album

about her voice, well it's very very different, deeper now

 

when watching her mini TV series "Why Not" i though she lost her voice cause of all those stuff happened to her, like her marriage and her childhood and so on

but that's not it, she got Lyme disease while touring and it actually damaged her vocal cord nerve .... and it's permanent ...

and about auto tune well yes there r some in the album but i have to say her voice kinda sound like auto tuned even live so i guess it's actually how she sounds now!

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it's not really surprising that she debuted #1 when there's no big competition around. It's like when Barbra Streisand released her album ''Love Is The Answer'' 8 years ago on September 29, 2009. Her album debuted at #1 in both US and UK simply because there wasn't competition.

The album is much better than what I expected from the first two singles.

 

I love "Soldier" and "I'm Alright".

Actually there was less than 800 sales between numbers 1&2 in the UK

There wasn't competition? Miley Cyrus and Demi Levato released their albums on the same day, as well as Michael Jackson and David Bowie posthumous albums and records by David Gilmour, Chris Rea and Benny Andersson (ABBA).

 

But in the US, Shania beat Miley & Demi by a mile (everyone's surprised Miley's album is doing so bad) and in the UK, the competition with Wolf Alice was neck-to-neck, Shania won the first spot with 724 combined albums (she was 1000 albums behind in the midweeks).

 

And grabbing #1 in Australia without any promo (well, 1 or 2 interviews) was quite surprising as well.

 

So there was definately competition, but Queen Shania slayed.

Shania just posted that NOW is #1 in the US!

 

Also, besides Swingin’ and Life’s About To Get Good, Soldier has to be my favorite song on the album.

They're not Adele, Eminem (?!) or Taylor Swift, but they're still big... and they (Miley and Demi) could've held Shania off the first place, but their promo was weak and Shania has been everywhere. 2013 and 2017 aren't the same, as evident with Miley, who smashed it with her last album.

 

All in all (pun intended) Shania went straight to #1, which after 15 years is a fantastic accomplishment and much deserved. :wub:

 

(and maybe Céline should release her new album in Sept too next time, instead of Nov)

Just got time to listen to the album today and I've got to say I absolutely love every song. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I am very pleased. Shania has given us a wonderful album.

I'm happy for Shania and her fans. I'm not her fan, I've never been. I only play 'That Don't Impress Me Much' when I'm drunk. But she's a Diva of that era where Celine comes from. And the era which is so so so different from what we are living now. And she still can get this #1 album thing. Which is good, and this is it, not about competition big or small or anything.

I actually LOVE this album...its such a grower - i spent most of last week welded to it. All in all is one of the best songs and its a bonus track??! Her song writing has come on and is quite impressive on it i think.

 

My faves of the new ones that wernt already released are

more fun

It's definately autotuned, but her voice is also very different... basically she's a new singer. I still have to get used to it, and of course it's a shame, but it is what it is and I'm happy she's still singing :)

as i said before even though it is autotuned but her voice has changed and it sound like already autotuned lol can notice it on her live performances !!
