cdfan32 Posted March 5, 2015 at 12:25 AM Posted March 5, 2015 at 12:25 AM I purchased the show yesterday and the CD was only available in the CD/DVD combo. The DVD and Bluray were also available for purchase on their own. Thank you! Do the DVD and Bluray have the same behind the scenes content? I'll grab the CD/DVD combo first then and hope for a Bluray release. Quote

anewdayhascome Posted March 5, 2015 at 10:08 AM Posted March 5, 2015 at 10:08 AM but why does she already say that it's her final tour? It's her first since ages and hasn't even revealed the release date of her new album... she doesn't want to sing anymore? What's the reason? I don't get it. Also, I'm disappointed. I've read somewhere that this tour will have 50 concerts because she is celebrating 50th birthday in August and now it seems that this tour will be only USA/Canada. That's a shame! Most of her fans at least from the US could easily go to Vegas... But at the same time I've read that she will do some international gigs too (but it's contradictory to the number of shows...)... You may want to re-familiarize yourself with a map of the United States of America. I don't know where this notion came from within the "international fandom" that it is "so easy" for fans in the U.S. to just hop on a plane and go to Las Vegas. The U.S. isn't the size of Ireland. It is a much bigger animal. Plane fare to and from Las Vegas from places like Miami, New York City, Raleigh, Nashville, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, etc. isn't cheap. </end rant> Quote

Not to mention the fact that with a 2 year residency, you have the time to save and the flexibility to choose a date that suits you. With a tour, you have just 1 or 2 days in each city which have to be convenient, usually just a couple of months after tickets go on sale. 1 Quote

That isn't entirely true. I would be careful about making generalizing statements such as this. Each person has their own financial circumstances. There are those who live in Beijing who may have gobs of money. So, a trip to Las Vegas wouldn't set them back that badly. However, there could be somebody just one or two states over from Nevada that barely has any money. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it gets frustrating and annoying when people from out of the U.S. act like the fans in the U.S. have it so easy. That is not the case for everybody in America. If it were "so easy," Caesars Palace would be filled with wall-to-wall people from all over America, every slot machine would be taken, and the company wouldn't be going bankrupt. Quote
cdfan32 Posted March 7, 2015 at 06:45 PM Posted March 7, 2015 at 06:45 PM (edited) I'm sorry, but this is entirely untrue. Not to make further sweeping generalizations, but Europeans and most non-Americans have FAR more lenient vacation time than Americans do. I'm not a fan of destination concerts in general, but I'd much rather spend time traveling to somewhere new I haven't been before than go to Las Vegas with my few vacation days time after time. I've already been fortunate enough to go several times for Celine, but I don't do it for anyone else, and even Celine I didn't manage to see as much as if she had been traveling elsewhere. Vegas residencies just aren't practical as a concert option with a very few exceptions. I never went to Vegas for Shania because I only go when Celine is performing, and of course they aren't both performing there at the same time. The choice is obvious, no matter how much I might still enjoy seeing Shania. I also really like her as she was one of my first concerts after Celine's, but I know who I'd choose to spend more of my money on any day. Edited March 7, 2015 at 06:46 PM by cdfan32 Quote
celine4evauk Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:14 PM Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:14 PM What's everyone's verdict on shania's dvd then? I've only watched the first few songs but her name at the back of the stage looks great. And that has got to be one of the best stage entrances ever! Quote
Angel2006 Posted March 7, 2015 at 10:14 PM Posted March 7, 2015 at 10:14 PM I was very impressed with the stage entrance. I'm not going to give anything away for the people that haven't seen the show, but the entrance is bad #ss! I didn't think I would love Shania's show so much, but after watching her Vegas concert on dvd I have to say it was pretty amazing. I was really impressed and enjoyed it alot. There were so many cool special effects. Her show is very different. Shania took her show beyond just being a concert. It was really an experience. I can't imagine how the people in the audience must have felt to see the concert in person, but from my television it was pretty amazing. Now I wish I traveled to Vegas to see Shania's show in person. I can't even imagine how amazing it would have been to see that show live! Darn it. I can't believe though that at know point in Celine or Shania's shows that they never went to see each others acts. I wonder why. One of them or both could have easily made the time to see each others show. To my knowledge, the only show Celine actually made time to see was Elton John's show. I wonder why. I guess with being around music all the time Celine probably doesn't want to go watch a musical act. I'm sure she enjoys it a little bit, but it must not be the number one thing on her list, that's for sure. I understand that. I think I would feel the same way if performing and being around music was my whole life. I like singing, but to sing on stage all the time, day in and day out, it would get a little boring and repetitive after awhile. I don't want to say that I would grow to hate it after awhile, but I'm sure Celine must sometimes have a love hate relationship with music. It's like when you love pizza or any food. If you eat pizza everyday, eventually it gets dull after awhile. I know that Celine still has a huge passion for music and of course she loves performing for her fans, but I'm just trying to see things from Celine's perspective. I was trying to figure out why she doesn't really go and see other people's shows. If feel like she probably doesn't want to go watch someone sing, when all she does all the time is sing. Everyone needs a break from there job. Singing is Celine's job and even if she goes to a concert and she's sitting there watching it and not singing, it probably feels like she's hanging out at work watching a co worker. I know it wouldn't always feel like that, but for the most part when she's really busy and has alot of performances, I'm sure it would probably feel that way. Right now she's relaxing and not performing at all, so I bet she would have alot of fun if she went to a concert right now while she's not surrounded with music and a busy schedule. 1 Quote
cdfan32 Posted March 7, 2015 at 10:44 PM Posted March 7, 2015 at 10:44 PM Celine has been to other people's shows though, just not necessarily in Vegas. Is she even in Las Vegas the entire time when she's not performing? And Celine and Shania make different music, so why would we assume that she is a big Shania fan just because they were both Canadian? I'm sure they have respect for each other, but each other's music just might not be to their own musical taste. I get the feeling that outside of her performances, Celine spends a lot of her time on her kids and Rene's interests, such as golfing, which leaves less time for her to just go off on her own and do other things that might interest her. That's something everyone deals with as they have families and get older, so I don't think we should read anything into it that she didn't make time to attend Shania's show. Quote
Del Posted March 8, 2015 at 05:24 PM Posted March 8, 2015 at 05:24 PM (edited) I saw Shania in Vegas. I was 10th row centre stage and I can tell you it was one on the most amazing concert experiences that I have ever had. Everything about the production amazing. I am so happy they captured this on DVDS as it's great to have it to watch. It's exactly as I remember it. To see From the Moment in person was incredible. For me that was the highlight of the show. CSCfan Posted March 8, 2015 at 10:53 PM Posted March 8, 2015 at 10:53 PM Shania went to see Céline and Elton at one point, but something rare happened: both Céline and Elton cancelled their shows, so Shania in the end wasn't able to see those shows (you can also see a bit of this in the 'Backstage Pass' documentary on the DVD). I believe Shania's husband Fred did get to see Céline's show a little while later, but Shania didn't go with him if I remember correctly. I can't believe we're having this conversation. What's your problem? you forgot to mention that there are poor people in Las Vegas itself who can't afford to see her but that NOT the point! I simply wrote that if she goes on tour for the very first time in yeaaaaaaaars and if it is meant to be her last one, she should do some international dates cause regardless of financial situation, it was easier for American fans to see her over 2 years period because the distance even from Boston is closer than any other destination in Europe/Africa/Asia or Australia. Even a few hundreds from around the world coming to Vegas don't count for me comparing to thousands from the US. Even if they did, now with this tour American fans once again are more privileged. And there is nothing bad about it. Good for all of them. It'd be just nice to see her on other continents! 2 Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019
