Bellamy Posted October 30, 2010 at 03:34 PM Posted October 30, 2010 at 03:34 PM With her last two albums, Celine sold more copies than Madonna did. Celine has also grossed more concert ticket revenue in the US than Madonna this decade. The reason that Madonna has sold more digital tracks than Celine is that she featured Justin on one, and 2005 was her big comeback record (Hung Up). Celine has never been huge on singlesExactly. wjd Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:25 PM Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:25 PM Now I come to think of it, Celine has outsold all of Madonna's releases this decade in the US. Chuffing eck! wjd Posted November 27, 2010 at 05:13 PM Posted November 27, 2010 at 05:13 PM Celine has sold about 18m albums in the USA this decade, and is the #2 best-selling female artist (behind Britney Spears who has sold over 24m albums) - this is by Soundscan only. She'll have sold about 18.5m in total. Mariah has sold about 14m. Worldwide, its the same story, except on a grander scale. Celine has sold not far off 50m albums this decade (2000-2010) - she's the #2 selling female artist of the decade, although Madonna could stake a claim as this to, as she's sold a very similar amount of albums. Mariah has sold about 25m albums worldwide, far less than Celine. wjd Posted November 28, 2010 at 03:36 PM Posted November 28, 2010 at 03:36 PM Madonna is the #1 selling female artist of the decade worldwide or someone else? Madonna and Celine really are very similar, but I'd give the edge to Celine. Britney Spears has outsold both of these, having sold over 55m albums this decade Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
RLAAMJR. Posted November 30, 2010 at 08:36 AM Posted November 30, 2010 at 08:36 AM Negatory. Madonna still takes the top spot. Quote

Kyle_Jared Posted January 3, 2011 at 01:19 PM Posted January 3, 2011 at 01:19 PM My question is , why the hell has this not yet been certified by the British Recorded Music Industry?? People on here were saying it was certified platnium and it wasnt....wasnt even certified silver, although it's way the hell past that in sales! Come on Rene...I'm sure all it takes is form or a phone call...... Check the database.....her last album certified is "Taking Chances". This is crazy! http://www.bpi.co.uk/certifiedawards/search.aspx Quote
wjd Posted January 3, 2011 at 02:38 PM Posted January 3, 2011 at 02:38 PM It takes more than a phone call lol. And its not Rene's responsibility - its the record company's. It would cost over $300 to get the album certified, and with cost cutting being the main aim of most labels now, album certifications sadly don't occur as much. Most of her catalogue is due an update. Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
Kyle_Jared Posted January 3, 2011 at 07:07 PM Posted January 3, 2011 at 07:07 PM Oh yes, and $300 is such an expensive fee considering the s*** ton of money she's made her record company! Please give me a break. And secondly, a phone call would be a start.......FROM her Manager TO the record company. Pathetic. Quote

wjd Posted January 3, 2011 at 10:05 PM Posted January 3, 2011 at 10:05 PM I don't speak in hard sales, unless its specifically stated, my 600-650k is a shipment figure. But I wouldn't be surprised if it had sold 600,000 hard copies. given the amount of in-store promotion the album gets. The last two weeks, its sold some 9,000 or so copies Also, $300 is the cost of a weekly wage for a Sony employee - which would you choose if you're a Sony boss, to pay a weekly wage, or certify one album? Also, if her label are members of the BPI, they don't even have to pay for the actual certification in the first place, just inform the BPI that they want an analysis carried out. In the end, it falls down to Sony being a lazy #ss label Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?
