SarahJB5 Posted October 20, 2008 at 05:50 PM Posted October 20, 2008 at 05:50 PM (edited) Earlier today, when I was skimming through this forum, I thought that I read the title of this topic as "Will Celine be announced as the President of the USA in Chicago, IL November 4, 2008?" :mdr: now that would be the best thing to happen to the states since.... like ever!! CELINE DION FOR PRESIDENT 2012 Yeah...that would be interesting, but would never happen since she's Canadian, lol...she could run for governor of a state though...yeah, that would NEVER happen though since she's so anti politics! Love, Posted October 20, 2008 at 05:54 PM Posted October 20, 2008 at 05:54 PM (edited) No, she can't run for President of the United States of America. First off, you would have to be born on US soil. It's silly to even think that Celine would even have the potential to run for politics... anywhere, let alone, the nation of America. This is going to be one crazy night considering Obama will also be in Chicago on this evening. stevethefan Posted November 1, 2008 at 03:30 PM Posted November 1, 2008 at 03:30 PM The problem is if Obama does not win on Tuesday Chicago is the LAST place I'd wanna be. Let's just say that things could get out of hand if that happens. If it's a close election, which still could be possible, then she will not have to announce anything. It will definitely be an interesting night! Quote

It's silly to even think that Celine would even have the potential to run for politics... anywhere, let alone, the nation of America. Céline has opinions like everyone else but has never wanted in the past to even talk about them really. She has absolutely NO interest AT ALL to work in politics one day. She was asked if that would be of interest to her one day by Lise Payette in an interview in the past and Céline said absolutely and definitely NO. In everything she could ever do in the future, active politics(like being a candidate) is NOT one of them for sure. That's absolutely out of the question believe me, I would bet anything that it will NEVER happen. Actually Céline would be laughing hysterically right now if she would read that it was even our thought for a second. Quote

I understand what you mean but how could she NOT? If it was Hockey Stanley cup finale night in Canada she would announce it just the same. It's not even about the result itself, she has to IMO if it is known, whatever the result is, even if she's happy or not about those result because IT IS an historical night in U.S.A. for all people in the audience....and in the world. Maybe she's canceling her appearance at the ADISQ Gala tomorrow then as well? Next concert date is scheduled for November 7th in Ottawa. Hopefully she'll be up to speed by then. Keep her in your prayers everyone. René has already confimed their presence at her ADISQ tribute. The ADISQ people have been wanting and waiting to honor Céline for 10 years now. At that event, she just has to sit there, listen, make a little speech and then go home. So I think she'll be there for sure. Unless she's hospitalize or getting worse, it's too late, she'll be there no doubt in my mind. She has too. It's not the same as travelling to Chicago, making soundcheck, singing and doing a two hour show and go back. I think that 3-4 days more is a good decision in order to help her get perfectly well to continue this tour. That could be the couple of days she needs to get all her strenght back. Sending her positive vibe and thinking of her so she gets well soon!! Quote
idroveallnight Posted November 2, 2008 at 04:25 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 04:25 AM At least she won't have to worry about being put in the awkward position of talking about the election. Quote
Jacqui Posted November 2, 2008 at 04:57 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 04:57 AM When Rene confirmed that she was still going to the Adisq thing, that was before Chicago was postponed too... But hopefully, probably, she will still go because a lot of planning went into it, and it can't be postponed.I'd be surprised if she did the red carpet or interviews though. (That probably wouldn't be good for her reputation either, if she goes and she seems 100% fine...I mean, we all know she's sick, but the press will make a scandal out of anything.) Quote
ashleylovesceline Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:32 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:32 AM I hope she feels better. I'm supposed to see her in Indianapolis on November 9th. But if she's sick, she needs to rest. I don't want her to keep pushing herself if she's not 100%. I'd rather have her postpone and enjoy herself once she has recooperated. Feel better soon, Céline! JP Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:32 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:32 AM For sure she will be at Adisq tomorrow! Lou555 Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:58 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 05:58 AM When Rene confirmed that she was still going to the Adisq thing, that was before Chicago was postponed too... But hopefully, probably, she will still go because a lot of planning went into it, and it can't be postponed.I'd be surprised if she did the red carpet or interviews though. (That probably wouldn't be good for her reputation either, if she goes and she seems 100% fine...I mean, we all know she's sick, but the press will make a scandal out of anything.) You're right it was before Chicago was postponed but you're also right to say the ADISQ tribute can't be postponed at this time, it's hours from now. As for the red carpet or interviews, I don't know about that but I know that the press here already know about Céline's health very well. Everyone knows how she is also, she's the kind of person that will honor her commitments even sick if she can, people know that about her too. Up to now people weren't surprise but grateful that she would be there. That's the woman medias(and fans) here know. If she postpones shows it's because doctors suggested strongly NOT to sing for a while to get better, not to stay in bed really. It's a respitory virus she has as you know and in order to get well she must stop singing for a little while and rest of course. So I don't expect to see her look that sick, she has been sick since October 11th and she was still giving her shows for fans. That's how she is and that's how she's known to be but that's why she had to stop because it was not getting better at all eventhough she thought she could beat this thing with time. I heard she was completly out of strength after her last show and was damaging her voice by trying so hard. That's why she has to stop singing, it's serious but not like she has to bed I don't think. Medias won't judge her here I know, Céline is well known to be such a hardworker and respectful of her fans, that's why she agreed to stop I guess, to be able to continue the tour. If there is a scandal(and there should not be) it won't come from home I can assure you. Quote
Jacqui Posted November 2, 2008 at 06:20 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 06:20 AM I agree with everything you said I didn't mean the Quebec media, I meant more the American media, perhaps even some people whose shows were cancelled, might say "why couldn't she come here and perform, if she could go there.." I already saw one article a few days ago, questioning whether or not she was really sick. It's stupid, some people look for trouble in everything. I was just saying, I hope it doesn't happen. And it probably won't anyway, so I'll shut up now. Quote
vshchen Posted November 2, 2008 at 07:54 AM Posted November 2, 2008 at 07:54 AM (edited) Celine definitely won't be able to announce the new U.S. president on that night because the result will be known at least one month later... Oh, and until then, Celine will return to Florida. Then she can announce the result in Florida. Edited November 2, 2008 at 07:57 AM by vshchen Quote

fyoung98 Posted November 2, 2008 at 12:54 PM Posted November 2, 2008 at 12:54 PM Jacqui, I see what you mean about American media. Looking at the article, after stating that she postponed the show, the article mentions the fact that she sang on Oprah last week . Evidently, they didn't know that the show was pre-recorded (like a week or so in advance, if I'm not mistaken). Perhaps, her illness was in its early stages (because she did perform other concerts after that), but they make it sound like her illness should be called into question or perhaps is not as serious as it is being made out to be. What was the point of throwing in that little "tidbit" unless they are trying to cause some scandal. Many prayers and good vibes are being sent your way Celine! Speedy and complete recovery, my dear!!!
