I don't think "Gimmie More" is her best song to date - far from it. However, it is catchy and good enough for radio. I do think it's better than her cover to Bobbie Brown's "My Preogative." But, nothing will ever beat "...Baby One More Time," "Born To Make You Happy," "Stronger," "Lucky," "Everytime," and "Oops!...I Did It Again."

Britney Spears performance kicks off the MTV Video Music Awards

 

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing.

 

An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards - but for all the wrong reasons. Kicking off the show Sunday night with her new single, "Gimme More,'' Spears looked bleary and unprepared - much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles.

 

She lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching; and, perhaps most unforgivable given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.

 

Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless. Some comeback.

 

While Spears' performance was a showcase, others were delivered in snippets: Akon crooned a bit of his "Smack That'' before an award was announced, while the cameras zoomed in on performances from Fall Out Boy and the Foo Fighters mid-performance in their suites, giving viewers the sense that they had happened upon an intimate concert.-AP

First of all, she acted like a whore the whole time. It's just gross. It's not even sexy, it's disgusting. She is indeed out of shaped, danced awfully bad, she can't even lip. Jesus, she looks like she's on crack. And the people there were looking at ther as if she was an alien. That was AWFUL

i figured it was too early for her to try to "comeback". the song is catchy...but they should have held off till next year. deep down, i didn't want this to be a success - because I thought it would take away from Celine, with their albums coming out the same day...but I feel kinda bad for her.

That performance was put together at the last minute because the original version (conceptualized by Criss Angel) had been cancelled by the Hotel because of security reasons. Also, Sarah Silverman (a real attention whore) insulted Britney's kids in her speech. Britney heard her rehearse and was really pissed off. But hey, I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind a 'comedian' insulting Rene-Charles in Celine's face and I'm sure you guys would call Celine names if ever she dares to be 'angry'.

 

I'm not even going to comment on the "whore" thing because that is so childish and retarded.

They always make fun of Celine and well that's what celebs have to go thru, and about Britney's kids , yeah they are result of irresponsible adults that get together after doing drugs and comics will talk about them, that's how they make money, nothing Britney can do to stop that.

I thought that Silverman was funny, kind of stupid and cheap talk but hey its MTV what can you expect?

 

When you are a real professional artist , it doesn't matter if they change your act 5 mins before show time, you should be trained and ready to make it your best , to please the audience and to show them who you really are as a performer, Britney is irresponsible with her life ,with her career and this past weekend she showed the world that she doesn't care a bit about no one or herself, going out partying and drinking every night before your comeback on worldwide TV doesn't make sense to me and to the rest of the world. I feel bad for Britney fans , if she still has any.

Before last night abysmal performance, I was worried that Celine & Britney's albums come out on the same day. I didn't want Britney to out-sell Celine. But now, WHEW! Britney might as well have come on stage and farted into the mic! Absolutely terrible! I felt sorry for her... for a milisecond. whoa...ok...first impression...i almost fell asleep during her performance. the song COULD be catchy..but with a "dance" like this...and with this "look". Gosh, i'd be ashamed if i were one of her kids.

 

these are some of the many moments when i realize why i love Celine so much.

 

i really don't care of she's sad or something...but as an artist you just don't go out there if you're not ready...besides sad...she seemed...bored.. it was like she wanted to end the performance faster. soooo despressing.

She`s such a sad individual. I actually used to really like Britney. Her last album was really good (In The Zone) and she could really dance. I really think she needs to go far away for a while and pull herself together. She needs to care again.
