Esty Posted October 8, 2008 at 09:38 AM Posted October 8, 2008 at 09:38 AM Maybe an older hit will be covered not necessarily PQTME. In any case I'll be glad to hear any song! I love both Celine and Lara, so I'll eagerly wait for this release! Quote
Lou555 Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:14 PM Posted October 8, 2008 at 01:14 PM jeez some people are really overreacting!! no one can touch céline's signature songs??!! common??!! What if Céline didn't do that herself? then we wouldn't have most of the Des mots qui sonnent album, no ABM, TPOL, IACBTMN etc! not even River Deep, Mountain High or Quand on n'a que l'amour! I think Céline thinks of it as a compliment! She won't be furious because someone recorded 'her' song too... anyway it isn't 'her' song either it's Jean-Jacques Goldman's! And he's free to do with it, what he wants. Which brings me to the following; Lara might be copying Céline but at least she writes most of her songs, plus she reinvents her songs each tour! If that's not creativity then what is? Céline should copy that from her! Cos the same version of TPOL for 14 years is getting pretty boring! You abviously didn't understand my point of view exactly. I don't like when a singer "of the same generation or era records a signature song" of someone else. For Céline and with others...You can go back to past post of mine to recall what I want to say. The key words here for me are signature song+singer of the same generation. You can disagree but your example of songs of Jacques Brel, Tina Turner and especially Plamondon's songs written from rock opera has nothing to do with my point of view really. As for overreacting....I was only telling an opinion and how I feel about it. Again you surely can disagree with me but I have a problem with the fact you take this opportunity to piqued on Céline the way you did. Especially using this upcoming cd which Lara is not writing. Anyway in conclusion it's just an opinion and again I'm disssapointed to read that you took this opportunity to criticize Céline. The only thing I would agree on is that I will always buy cds Céline will put out. She's my favorite singer, of course I will...I don't see why this fact would justify Lara's recording of Céline's song a part from the fact that you're a die hard Lara's fan which I'm not. That's why I come here, I'm a Céline fan. Not much of a surprise about that. If you feel the need to critizize Céline to defend Lara's choices maybe you should also join a Lara's forum as well or maybe you already have. Good luck to Lara, I wish her the best really. Quote
luciusbright Posted October 9, 2008 at 05:56 AM Posted October 9, 2008 at 05:56 AM (edited) I agree with lou555no matter how successful Celine is in the English world, she is a native French singer with much more years of career. It's totally two different worlds, In US,Celine maybe just a big star, but in her native world, she may means more than that......Lara is a great singer, I like her songs too, I, personally would like to hear her cover, and her live of P is beautiful Edited October 9, 2008 at 05:57 AM by luciusbright Quote S'il suffisait d'aimer...
Frozen_Phoenix Posted October 9, 2008 at 07:15 AM Posted October 9, 2008 at 07:15 AM I really don't think that Lara Fabian is a copycat.I think she's simply great and very creative. She has a very unique personality although somehow she seems kind of distand but neverthelessshe seems different from any other singer I know. She is just special in a way. danger Posted October 9, 2008 at 08:52 AM Posted October 9, 2008 at 08:52 AM She is nothing special in my area, still the radio stations are playing two or three of her songs and that's it. Quote
Frozen_Phoenix Posted October 9, 2008 at 09:59 AM Posted October 9, 2008 at 09:59 AM Well she definitly is nothing special in Germany but doesn't mean that she is nothing special to me.I really love her, her voice, music and lyrics are really great. Of course she doesn't top Celine but still she is fantastic especially the Intimite concert. anna Posted October 9, 2008 at 03:59 PM Posted October 9, 2008 at 03:59 PM even though Lara is all fluff and no buff to me, i think this albumn conception is very smart on Lara's partall of the artists she's covering are appealing to me and it makes me want to buy it when it's released. Quote

Davey84 Posted October 9, 2008 at 09:11 PM Author Posted October 9, 2008 at 09:11 PM To Lou555, I still don't agree with you, I get your point... but what is the time difference for someone to cover a song? TPOL was only 5 years later, and I think Céline only differs 10 years with Jennifer Rush As long as a song is treated with respect, then it is fine by me! Plus the creativity remark was for Expresso... who said Lara lacked creativity... which I personally don't agree with. I am not a die hard Lara fan, but I do like her a lot. She's no Céline, but she can sing Plus I am a die hard Céline fan, but that doesn't mean I have to love everything she does, like every decision she (or her team) make(s) I can't wait!! I WISH Lara and Anastacia had the following here in the States they have everywhere else in the world... We have to import everything those two release anymore! well Lara is probably a big name in France, Belgium and Quebec, but outside those countries (and other french languages countries) I don't think a lot of people know her! I only learnt about her, when I saw Adagio on tv (the first and only time) and I thought it was Céline! LOL unfortunatly her English album didn't take off... but who signs with Sony huh? Where do you have the info from, anyway? dumpling Posted October 9, 2008 at 11:21 PM Posted October 9, 2008 at 11:21 PM Anyway, whatever Céline songs she chooses to do it won't go well with people in Québec I can tell you in advance, I pretty sure of that. Lara has lost a lot of popularity over the years here because she copycats Céline in so many ways like Xpresso said and for so many years, people didn't like that at all. Pour que tu m'aimes encore is Céline biggest french single and a signature song, no one should touch it IMO. Every great woman singer in Québec could have done Céline's song for years but it's like understood that it's not something to do....Not to be touched...not right now at least..it's still too soon to do that. didn't celine recorded other singers' songs frim time to time..............?why should we say such things like "other people shouldn't touch a celine song"?it sounds a little stupid to mei can see how insulting words u people would say when lara's album come outthe funny thing is, you all like to say how great celine interpreting others' songs...........but scolding others for doing celines Quote

I also mean with her look and album/show concepts!! When Celine started having long and light brown/blond, well so did Lara. When Celine got a perm, Lara did too. After Celine wore that white pant suit for the Falling Into You tour, well Lara did the same on her second last or last tour... can't remember exactly. And now it's the album concept and a similar album title (All The Women in Me) as Celine was supposed to use... Anyway, not a big deal but you have to realize that there are many "coincidences"... And there are MANY others... If you had followed the Quebec showbiz you would know what I mean. People got really annoyed and that's probably why Lara moved back to Belgium after all these years living in Quebec, doing some type of FBI work (let's call it QBCI - Quebec Bureau of Celine Investigation) to discover how to steal Celine's career secrets!!! That's probably what Celine was refering to in her Taking Chances video about the identity theft!!! Edited October 10, 2008 at 01:02 AM by Xpresso Quote

That's probably what Celine was refering to in her Taking Chances video about the identity theft!!! well I agree and disagree... let's face it, the only reason Lara got a contract with Sony, is because Sony wanted to fill the gapp Céline made, when she went on a break, they probably thought they could fill that with Lara. I think if Lara went after an international English carreer, she should have done that arround 1993, 1999 was too late. Of course some things will be the same, but look at Céline, people say that the TC tour, the Kyli Tour and the Madonna tour are similar, but that's beause they all worked for the same person. But I would unbelievablely happy if Céline copied Lara for once and reinvents her old songs on tour (like IA) or make a show like En Toute Intimité as for the stolen identity http://www.powerofthemusic.com/images/singles/reason1.jpg Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Black Kitten Posted October 10, 2008 at 09:44 AM Posted October 10, 2008 at 09:44 AM i have such great respect for this woman. she's very celine, but her voice is undeniably just as good. i only have 1 cd of hers (self titled), and i love it. i first heard of her via the song Broken Vow (which was the soundtrack of F4's Meteor Garden ). and then the song I Will Love Again came out shortly, and i was totally blown away. this woman has some voice and i ended up buying her cd (it was on sale that day when i bought it ) and i was astounded by what i heard. amazing! Annalicious Posted October 10, 2008 at 11:57 PM Posted October 10, 2008 at 11:57 PM Actually Lara's an idiot. 1999 was not too late. Sony released her CD with 100% money back guarantee - they don't do that for anybody not even Celine. They put up huge billboards of her, got her on all the good shows, but she went off to France to do some stuff there and didn't commit to the US promo. Without the artist there's little a record company can do. She was set to do a tour and had dates at Carnegie Hall (she told me personally when I met her so this is a fact) but ended up canceling them in favor of doing more concerts in France. A little later she got a starring role in a prestigious industry charity musical and woulda had fabulous Broadway opportunities but dropped out at the last minute. She wasn't ready to do what needed to be done. That is why she failed. Quote

And another reason Lara failed in the US: she gave an interview to Billboard and in one of her answers she said "I don't want to be an opening act!!"... Right after, her song started dropping off the charts... Céline was an opening act at one point and look at her now! Could it be the reason Lara didn't do Carnegie Hall? Maybe she was to open for someone else and she just couldn't take it? Bell Posted October 11, 2008 at 11:53 AM Posted October 11, 2008 at 11:53 AM I can't stand this woman!! I like her voice, but not the woman. She always copycats Céline (hair, style, etc.). She knows that she will get lots of free promotion by recording Céline's song... just as we have done on this site by including the release date and all. Did you notice the concept of her album : all women!!! Sounds like D'Elles, doesn'it? I swear this woman has no creativity... I agree with you 100% Xpresso. Plus to my knowledge NO woman has ever recorded any of Céline's song...ever! Everyone sings those Céline songs and love and admire her very much but no other woman singer would even think to touch a Céline song(recording it I mean). Céline is only 40 year old and still very active in her carreer. Only few man recently did it for the first time.... Corneille(with D'amour ou d'amitié) with a very différent rendition and it's a song from 25 years ago, Il Divo and Eric Lapointe with his rock and raspy voice doing L'amour existe encore also very differently, I don't know of anyone who has done this. It's not a good idea I don't find. To me it's like Mariah Carey would do a Céline song or the other way around...it seems impossible and a very bad idea to me. Anyway, whatever Céline songs she chooses to do it won't go well with people in Québec I can tell you in advance, I pretty sure of that. Lara has lost a lot of popularity over the years here because she copycats Céline in so many ways like Xpresso said and for so many years, people didn't like that at all. I guess it's a difficult time for everyone in showbizz, that's why she would do that kind of project. Lara who always said(like Mariah) that (she Lara) wrote her songs should continue to put out what differentiate her from other woman singers. I wish Lara good luck with everything she wants to pursue but I don't find it a good news at all that she's recording a Céline songs...any one of them. That's my opinion. YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Davey84 Posted October 25, 2008 at 09:15 AM Author Posted October 25, 2008 at 09:15 AM and the winner is...... Lara Fabian writes on her own website: TLFM “Toutes les femmes en moi” (every woman in me) is the name of the new album. TLFM is my story... With all these women who allowed me to find my way, I tell you about my changes. With them, I have learnt to grow up, to dare and to become who I really am. Isn't it that the most difficult, becoming who we are? At the end of TLFM, there YOU are... You are the gift of this great path... These women are somehow the scout of my evolution. All these years, these very women came into my life in my eternal quest in my unchanging doubts hunt. UNCHANGING. For months, in order to have the CD released by Christmas, I did my utmost to pay tribute to them, with people sharing the same vision as I had. It wasn't that easy. It was more like questioning myself on questioning myself. Taking risks on these different musical styles was disturbing... But it was the right time to do this album at this stage of my life, the way I did it, DARING... Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Klezmer, Tango, Neo Classic, White Soul come close without disturbing each other... Songs like « Gottingen » (Barbara), « L'amour existe encore » (Céline Dion) or « Il venait d'avoir 18 ans » (Dalida)embrace each other in TLFM... The legitimacy of this mixture is the reality of this very mixture, which explains my career... I offered myself a deep introspection... Now, I am offering it to you... When skimming through these pages, you will find letters. I won't tell you more... There are somehow words I finally dared to tell...THEM. TLFM is not an album of covers, it is a travel. The itinerary of a child of snow and fire, blessed by these exceptional women... Thank you for being there I can't wait to here her version!!! Somehow I think it will be better then Aun existe Amor Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
