Davey84 Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:48 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:48 PM « Toutes les Femmes en Moi »Sortie : 1 décembre, 2008Un disque qui reprend les magnifiques chansons de grandes chanteuses (entre autres Edith Piaf, France Gall, Céline Dion, Catherine Lara, Maurane...) qui ont influencé Lara Fabian comme artiste depuis toute sa vie, mais réinventées dans des arrangements entièrement re-imaginés. thanks to Michael of the French forum! Funny cos actually today I was asking what that women was up to! hahaha if I get it right, she's releasing an album full of covers, but in her own way? Interesting!! I think it's pretty cool she included Céline!! And I will bet you it's going to be PQTME on that album! ZoraSourit Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:50 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:50 PM Lara will record an album with songs that were sang by other women, including Céline, but with a different musical arrangement. Nando Férri Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:53 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:53 PM Lara is a GREAT singer... Really enjoy her habilities... Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ejungtQy1r9swpco6_250.gif
GoldenLeaf Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:55 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:55 PM I knew Lara is a HUGE Celine's fan she even said she had bought all her albums so I'm not surprised that she considers Celine as one of the women who have influenced her. Quote
Céline's Blues Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:55 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 05:55 PM She will offer her recording of PQTME which was not that bad. It has grown on me since I first heard it. I no longer think it was dreadful. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
firebird Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:12 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:12 PM The live version of "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" she did on her Intimité tour was really good.Celine should rethink that song as well. I wonder why she never gets tired of singing it the same way ever since, even the 'audience sing it for me' part is the same since 1996 Quote
JP Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:37 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:37 PM I hope it won't be Pour que tu m'aimes encore again!I like her but saw her in concert in her last tour and didn't like it, was boring and soooo expensive Quote http://static-illicoweb.videotron.com/illicoweb/static/webtv/images/content/player/TVA_Celine_Dion_Sans_Attendre_Vf_WT_Poster.jpg
Edwin Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:51 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 06:51 PM What else could she cover by Celine but PQTME? Her version, god bless her, has not grown on me. Quote
CelineFanInSoCal Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:02 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:02 PM Laura's version of PQTME is pretty interesting. It's a nice take on someone else's material, and it's not an "expected" rendition of the song's production. Celine should def rethink some of her arrangements. Laura's version is a little "bluesier" or maybe even slightly sultry, I'm not sure how to describe it, but her phrasing gives the song a lot of romance. It's grown on me since I first heard it. Kudos to her for doing a good job adapting a hugely famous song previously recorded by the world's biggest selling female artist, and pulling it off. Quote
Céline's Blues Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:04 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:04 PM I hope it won't be Pour que tu m'aimes encore again!I like her but saw her in concert in her last tour and didn't like it, was boring and soooo expensive It was expensive cuzz she has sang Céline's PQTME. She had to buy the rights to record it on her new CD. Now she had to cash it all in back by outrageous ticket prices thinking when she's singing a Céline Dion song ppl won't notice any difference and will come to her concerts in herds. Sadly it wasn't the case. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Davey84 Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:07 PM Author Posted October 7, 2008 at 07:07 PM hahaha oh boy seba always a treat! well maybe JJ isn't that expensive! he can't have much money... he still wears the same old jeans from 20 years ago! I think Lara's version is quite interesting. I love how she reinvents her songs time after time! Céline really could take an example from her! And Lara didn't pretend to be Céline with her version, but she gave her own interpretation to the song. And for all you haters out there.... When Lara sang that song, there wasn't a soul in the audience who didn't know the lyrics! btw if anyone has an mp3 of the live version please send me a pm, I've been looking for it for ages! And the fact that the audience knew the words is a testament to the power of Celine, not Lara or the deranged, erm arrangement that she sang it in. And no, I'm not a Lara hater, I'm just very protective over how someone sings PQTME. chante plus fort... Quote

Xpresso Posted October 7, 2008 at 09:43 PM Posted October 7, 2008 at 09:43 PM I can't stand this woman!! I like her voice, but not the woman. She always copycats Céline (hair, style, etc.). She knows that she will get lots of free promotion by recording Céline's song... just as we have done on this site by including the release date and all. Did you notice the concept of her album : all women!!! Sounds like D'Elles, doesn'it? I swear this woman has no creativity... Quote

Did you notice the concept of her album : all women!!! Sounds like D'Elles, doesn'it? I swear this woman has no creativity... I agree with you 100% Xpresso. Plus to my knowledge NO woman has ever recorded any of Céline's song...ever! Everyone sings those Céline songs and love and admire her very much but no other woman singer would even think to touch a Céline song(recording it I mean). Céline is only 40 year old and still very active in her carreer. Only few man recently did it for the first time.... Corneille(with D'amour ou d'amitié) with a very différent rendition and it's a song from 25 years ago, Il Divo and Eric Lapointe with his rock and raspy voice doing L'amour existe encore also very differently, I don't know of anyone who has done this. It's not a good idea I don't find. To me it's like Mariah Carey would do a Céline song or the other way around...it seems impossible and a very bad idea to me. Anyway, whatever Céline songs she chooses to do it won't go well with people in Québec I can tell you in advance, I pretty sure of that. Lara has lost a lot of popularity over the years here because she copycats Céline in so many ways like Xpresso said and for so many years, people didn't like that at all. Pour que tu m'aimes encore is Céline biggest french single and a signature song, no one should touch it IMO. Every great woman singer in Québec could have done Céline's song for years but it's like understood that it's not something to do....Not to be touched...not right now at least..it's still too soon to do that. I guess it's a difficult time for everyone in showbizz, that's why she would do that kind of project. Lara who always said(like Mariah) that (she Lara) wrote her songs should continue to put out what differentiate her from other woman singers. I wish Lara good luck with everything she wants to pursue but I don't find it a good news at all that she's recording a Céline songs...any one of them. That's my opinion. Quote
Lou555 Posted October 8, 2008 at 12:12 AM Posted October 8, 2008 at 12:12 AM Just to be more precise and not misunderstood here, I didn't want to compare Lara to Mariah exactly on my post. Just wanted to give an example of any other woman singer(who could have been anyone else) of the SAME era or generation of Céline covering one of her biggest hits. Like Mariah recording this year MHWGO or Céline recording her song Hero :giggle: Quote
firebird Posted October 8, 2008 at 12:19 AM Posted October 8, 2008 at 12:19 AM You're overreacting. It's a good sign when someone else wants to cover your songs. Yes and everyone knows that Lara just copies Céline blablabla, old news. Quote

Everyone sings those Céline songs and love and admire her very much but no other woman singer would even think to touch a Céline song(recording it I mean). that's not really true... without thinking to much i can tell u that polish singer Edyta Gorniak just made a cover of ''i surrender'' in one of her last albums (in polish im not sure)... another one... the greek singer Helena Paparizou made a greek cover of ''pour que tu m'aimes encore'' called ''an esi m'agapas''. also Leona Lewis recorded ''the first time ever i saw your face''... even if it wasnt a Celine's original... im sure there must be many others... Maybe in english(The first time...is not really a Céline song for me, eventhough I think her cover is one of the best and you know Roberta Flack's original wasn't still being successful and playing on the radio like PQTME and many Céline's songs still are..) It's possible maybe in other countries than francophone parts of the world, but I pretty positive NO francophone woman singer has ever recorded a Céline song in french I don't think. And as you may know Céline is been singing in French Canada and France for more than 25 years now. I'm pretty sure of that. If anyone here knows of any woman who ever RECORDED a Céline song in french, I'd like very much to know about it. Especially her signature songs... Anyway it's how I feel about that and I respect others who don't feel the same, that's for sure. Quote

Davey84 Posted October 8, 2008 at 07:23 AM Author Posted October 8, 2008 at 07:23 AM jeez some people are really overreacting!! no one can touch céline's signature songs??!! common??!! What if Céline didn't do that herself? then we wouldn't have most of the Des mots qui sonnent album, no ABM, TPOL, IACBTMN etc! not even River Deep, Mountain High or Quand on n'a que l'amour! I think Céline thinks of it as a compliment! She won't be furious because someone recorded 'her' song too... anyway it isn't 'her' song either it's Jean-Jacques Goldman's! And he's free to do with it, what he wants. Which brings me to the following; Lara might be copying Céline but at least she writes most of her songs, plus she reinvents her songs each tour! If that's not creativity then what is? Céline should copy that from her! Cos the same version of TPOL for 14 years is getting pretty boring! And why do you attack her for making an album she wants, if Céline would to record an album with songs that inspired her, you'd be the first to buy it!
